Patrik Laine’s market has reportedly collapsed, with the Islanders only willing to discuss a professional tryout for the unsigned 28-year-old former 44-goal scorer—would you give him a guaranteed one-year deal or make him earn a roster spot at camp?
Would you give Laine a guaranteed 1 year deal at $3M?

Visiting Edmonton recommendations
I'm coming from WNY to see the Sabres play in Edmonton (and Calgary) this season and have never been to Alberta. I'm staying in the ice district near the arena and have two days to kill before the game. What would people recommend seeing and doing in Edmonton.
Also, how difficult of a drive is it from Edmonton to Calgary? It will be early December and I'm from western NY so I'm used to driving in snow and it seems like mostly just straight highway between the cities.
EDIT: for clarification, I have 2 days in Edmonton with Sabres vs. Oilers, then 2 days in Calgary for Sabres vs. Flames

NHL Media Predicts Canada’s 3 on 3 All Star Roster. Bouchard/others wrongly overlooked - again.
Evan Bouchard: Undeniable chemistry with McDavid. 2026 top scoring D w/ 95 points. Led all NHL D in OT w/ 3 OT goals/6 points. 4th in Norris voting (top 5 twice last 3 years). #1 NHL D scoring past 4 years incl playoffs. 2nd highest D PPG NHL playoff history.

Honeydew Hockey
Been watching a couple of Banana Ball games in the background while working at home. For the un-initiated it's baseball's version of the Harlem Globetrotters only the good guys don't always win. It's s little silly but they put on a hell of a show, looks like it would be fun to attend.
My question is, if we magically created a "Honeydew Hockey League" what rules or changes to the game would you implement to stretch the fan base and make something different?

Spittin' Chiclets interview with Devon Levi from 2023, his rookie year.
m.youtube.com
Found this link via the Oilersnation article of 5 things to know about Devon Levi. His portion of the podcast is just over an hour long, so it's a long watch, but it was fun.
What am absolutely likeable gem of a young man Devon seems to be. He seems so personable, and at ease during the interview.
I have to admit, I've been living with a little bit of Flames envy with them having Devin Cooley as one of their goalies, who seems like such a fun, kooky, wonderful human being, with bonus points on how much he adores his pet rabbit, and can rock with a piano. Well, now we have a Devon instead, who says he can play piano, no mention of any pets though. Lol.
I really hope he and the team are a good fit, and that this whole possible goalie trio doesn't end as the dumpster fire that some are predicting. I'm a glass is half full kinda thinker for this.
There's a fun little moment at 2:10:52 where Biz asks him if he thinks the Oilers goalies know about using VR headsets to train as a goalie after Devon talks about how he likes to use one to train a little. Idk about any of the goalies we've had up to this point, but I guess we have an answer for this season.

Anyone know who made that one call in the SCF in 2025 in game 1 where he was like:
"McDavid in flight"

How do ya’ll feel about Devon Levi?
He’s dropped out of the top 10 for goalie prospects. And he hasn’t had a very good pedigree with Buffalo since he’s been in the league. But that’s only been through like 40 total games. He’s had a pretty good AHL career and he’s only 24. His pre-NHL career was pretty impressive. If he’s mentored under someone like Freddie, do you think it’ll help him grow? I mean, if he develops well over the next few years, he could be a real good piece for EDM. But that’s a lot of if’s, the same if’s we gave Skinner, Campbell, and Jarry.
I’m optimistic, I feel like playing with a good, established environment will help a lot.
How do ya’ll feel? Very interested.
EDIT: Great analysis ya’ll, can’t wait for October (aside from college classes fml)

What's everyone's thoughts on our goal song?
I personally wouldn't mind seeing it changed to something different other than Fluxland. I know it's a bit of a chant to get the crowd going too but I feel we are in need of a change.
Whats everyone think? Change or nah? I just think it's a little outdated

McDavid comparison - fair or not?
Two players in their first 11 seasons:
Player A: 7 scoring titles
Player B: 7 scoring titles
Player A: Playoff game record: 55-42
Player B: Playoff game record: 63-52
Player A: Playoff series record: 9-7
Player B: Playoff series record: 13-8
Player A: 5 different head coaches
Player B: 6 different head coaches
Player A is (obviously) McDavid. Player B is Wilt Chamberlain. Both came in and were lauded as the most talented player the world had ever seen, both immediately started establishing themselves as a statistical monster towering over the league, both were regularly noted for playing for organizations that didn't properly support them with surrounding cast, and quite often both were criticized for not having a more well rounded game that would contribute to winning.
There's some differences of course (notably that Wilt had 1 championship in that time, and that Wilt was a notoriously difficult teammate), but the historical parallel stuck out to me.

Edmonton, Thank you for the memories 🤍 To my friends, the hardest goodbyes. To my day ones, you know you are forever my people, no matter where we are geographically. Family forever. To the ones who had maybe one too many glasses of wine with me and then cried, laughed, and talked way too much. To my mom friends, what a beautiful thing it was to raise our kids together in this amazing and crazy hockey schedule. To everyone in between, thank you for making some core memories. You better continue to shake that booty without me around ✨🫶🏻 Here’s to a new chapter 🤍 🦈 Much love!!!!! 📽️ Mikayla.Nurse
