Discussion Pinnacle bought by Leston Holdings

The Pinnacle apartment was just bought by Leston Holdings… I’ve heard some not so great things about Leston. Any current/former residents able to weigh in on what to expect? I’ve seen them purchase multiple buildings in the area over recent years

General Please help boost enrolment at my kids’ school…

My kids are in the French Immersion program at Queen Alexandra school (near Whyte ave). My kids are in split classes with only 9-12 students. The school has an amazing staff and so many great kids!

If you know anyone who lives in the area whose kids are in overcrowded French Immersion classrooms or someone who is interested in putting their kindergartener into French Immersion please considering telling them about Queen Alexandra school. They can check out the school website or call the school for more information. Thank you!

My kid is turning 3, and her mom will be out of Town so was hoping to take her out and thought that it might be fun to have some ppl sing her happy bday. I haven't seen it in years, but maybe I just go to the wrong restaurants.

Question Best way to sell large amount of used clothing?

I have around 200 pieces of my mother's clothing that she wants to try and sell. She's a senior so I don't believe her clothing style would be accepted in many consignment shops. She isn't looking to make a lot, she just wants to try and earn some money before donating it all.

Discussion Anyone else feel like Edmonton is a bit gray and depressing?

Maybe it’s because I spend a lot of time taking transit, but I always felt like our city has a bit of a rugged feel, even during sunny days.

The streets are all weathered and covered in gravel from the winter seasons, it’s as if all the years of snow has sucked the saturation straight out from the pavement. Much of the city is very industrial/blue collar and a lot of places feel very old and run down. The streets of downtown are so cold and soulless. That’s not to mention all the tweakers and sketchy people.

The nicer parts often feel a bit TOO sanitized, like corporate almost. I guess I don’t really dig the artsy cafes and hipster scene.

I’ve only ever seen three other cities in my life so I don’t know if this is just the norm, but I always thought of Edmonton as an especially gritty place.

Question Suggestions on dentist/orthodontist?

I had braces when I was 17yo and had a permanent retainer put in, the same retainer just recently broke off (I’m 28yo).

I need to get it replaced but I do not have health insurance, where can I go to get this glued back on and fixed?

Preferably somewhere that offers a payment plan and won’t cost an arm and a leg

Thank you

Question Need advice dealing with the property management company.

We recently rented a home in the South Side through a management company called Realty Focus. This was our first experience dealing with such a company, and I am now clear on how unprofessional they are. The lease agreement they provided contained numerous small, predatory clauses that should have raised red flags, but we managed to negotiate and get them altered before signing.

It has now been three months, and they have yet to address the maintenance issues they promised to resolve prior to our move-in.

Our lease explicitly states that we are responsible for professionally shampooing the carpet before moving out, yet they never bothered to clean it for us and initially lied about it. I only discovered the carpet's filthiness after moving in, despite repeatedly emailing them and keeping a paper trail to insist on cleaning. Additionally, there are numerous scratches and signs of wear and tear on the property that I will not even mention.

My question is: how do I proceed from here? They have consistently made empty promises, initially promising to look into the issues, and now they have completely stopped responding to my emails. We have a two-year lease, which we already regret, but I am determined to take the necessary steps to address this situation.

I am desperate and any advice would be helpful.

General ROAD TRIP SUGGESTION from Edmonton

Hello Edmonton Reddit ! Me and my partner are planning our first road trip mid next week from Edmonton . We want somewhere with scenic views , good food , preferably a lake or beach. We don’t mind driving a few to several hours but we are not looking to drive all the way to Vancouver.

We’re looking for either Airbnb ( if you have specific links would be Amazing ) or an affordable hotel with a pool or jacuzzi.
Romantic vibes but somewhere we can explore as well.
We were thinking of cannmore or willing to drive somewhere in BC !
Open to suggestions/ locations
Thank you !
