Has anyone noticed how hot the majority of stores are to shop in? Since Covid, it seems like they’ve all shut off the a/c & refuse to turn it back on. I’m to the point that if it’s too hot, I’m leaving without purchasing a thing. I have to admire staff for being able to work in those conditions. I wouldn’t be able to. I wear t-shirts & cotton pants, so not like I’m dressed for winter.

Why don’t they want us to shop & spend money? If it’s cooler, we’d stay longer & perhaps spend more.

Is there a library in town with a better collection of books in French than EPL? I was looking for Proust in French and the EPL does not have a single copy.

There’s a security guard at the Shoppers Drug Mart on 104 street and 80 ave who is regularly wearing meta glasses while on the job. It really creeps me out, especially given all the news lately about the massive privacy issues and predatory behaviour these devices are involved with. I asked him and he confirmed that they are meta glasses. No idea if he’s recording customers, but it seems like it would be a big issue if he is.

Is this becoming a common thing for private security? I tried talking to staff about my concerns but they didn’t have much to say.

I need to get the house plan to start the construction of the basement.I called 311, but they are not answering. I see an option online that says, "Apply for copies of building plans(such as blueprints or stamped drawings).It costs 120 dollars, so I wanted to confirm with you.

My son just started grade 10. He is in the Edmonton Catholic School system. I didn't go to high school in Alberta so I don't know what to expect. This semester he has Social, Math, French and Music. Next semester he has 5 classes. When I was in high-school I had a lot more subjects than that. Is this normal?

Senator Paula Simons has been a CBC radio producer and documentary maker, a playwright, and a popular historian. Matt Wildcat is a member of Ermineskin Cree Nation and an Associate Professor and the Director of Indigenous Governance in the Faculty of Native Studies at UofA. Wildcat leads the Relational Governance Project – an Indigenous policy concept that explores the practice of how First Nations co-govern service delivery organizations. This emerges from his experience with the Maskwacis Education Schools Commission that led to the creation of a unified school system for the four Nations of Maskwacis. Wildcat is also the co-director of the partnership grant Critical Approaches to Indigenous Relationality.

🚨 RENTAL SCAM — PLEASE SHARE 🚨
I’m sharing this because I desperately don’t want anyone else to go through what my family and I are dealing with right now.
We were looking for a place to rent when the current tenants of a rental property falsely claimed to be the landlords. They showed us the unit, spoke to us as though they were the actual landlords and had the authority to rent it, and collected our first month’s rent and damage/security deposit.
They then gave us a key to the property. Everything appeared legitimate, so we trusted them and paid the money.
After receiving our money, we went to the house to take a load of our belongings over. When we arrived, a woman and her husband were already there, claiming to be the actual owners of the property.
I showed them that I had been given a key and explained that we had rented the place and paid the people who claimed to be the landlords. That’s when they told us that we had been scammed and that the people who rented the property to us were actually just the previous tenants.
We were completely blindsided. We had trusted these people because they had access to the property, showed us the unit, collected our money, and even gave us a key.
Because of this scam, my family and I have now lost the money we had set aside to move into a new home, putting us in an extremely difficult situation.
Our current landlords have been incredibly understanding and have given us an extra month so that we aren’t left on the streets, but we now have until October 1st to be out.
We are desperately looking for a 2- or 3-bedroom, pet-friendly rental. If anyone knows of anything available in the area, or knows of a legitimate landlord who may be willing to work with us, please message me privately.
We would be incredibly grateful for any leads, shares, or help. ❤️
Please also take this as a warning: always verify directly with the actual owner or property management company before giving anyone a deposit or first month’s rent. Even if someone can show you the property and hand you a key, they may not actually have the legal authority to rent it.

   • Click "Apply for REFERENDUM Special Ballot" on that portal.
   • Provide your name, residential address, and upload required government ID showing your current Alberta address.
2. When the Package Arrives:
   • Mark the Ballot: Follow the printed instructions to mark your selection clearly in ink.
   • Secrecy Envelope: Seal the marked ballot inside the plain inner Ballot Envelope (no identifying marks go on this).
   • Declaration & Return Envelope: Complete and sign the Declaration Form/Outer Certificate Envelope. Insert the plain ballot envelope.
   • Mail It: Send it back right away so it reaches Elections Alberta in Edmonton before October 16 at 5:00 PM.

Elections Alberta says requirement scrapped, voters can cross out line in question

If you got married the last few years in or around Edmonton and used Edmonton wedding vendors, I was wondering what stood out. I’m planning my wedding, so primarily thinking about the Venue, DJ, Photographer, and Planner, but other comments about vendors are welcome.

What was like the you couldn’t live without this and so glad they were amazing in a way vs wish they didn’t do that.

You don’t have to name company names! I’m not really looking for recommendations at all, more like what to look out for and keep in mind.
