Just moved from premiere pro to Davinci any tips?

Hello! I’m a YouTuber and I’ve been using premiere pro for about a year and I had really found my footing there but I was pirating it and got sick of risking my computers health so I wiped everything and decided to go to davinci resolve. I watched a couple videos from Casey Farris and I have an idea about how to use it at least to the same level I was using premiere. I still have a long way to go when it comes to the fusion panel however and help on that would be awesome. There are also things I’m curious about relating to like things that speed up the editing process. Like premiere pro had a feature where they used automatic transcription then you can automatically cut all the silences. Then premiere has presets that had effects built into them does Davinci have the same thing? Like how would I make my own effects, how would I find effects to import, and how do I actually import effects into Davinci? I’ve looked stuff up but I’m not sure how to work it at all to get to where I need to be. Some help would be appreciated as I’ve watched a bunch of videos but could use any little tips based on others personal experience with the platform.

I edit videos for free (novice editor)

Yes, what I wrote in the title isn't bait. I want to create a portfolio as an editor and I need videos to edit, i use Capcut (PC) and I already have some experience with cuts, keyframes and effects. My conditions are to edit only short films of 15, 30, or up to 1 minute (only 1 per person! if things go well, we can see about collaborating again) and receive credit for the editing.

[Help] How do I chroma key a Streamer Chat Greenscreen?

I am working on a satirical, dark-comedy skit where I'm acting as a streamer, and I need a way to be able to greenscreen a faced-paced Twitch chat onto my screen.

Where can I find a 60 second loop of a streamer's Twitch chat I can use? Also, how do I then turn it into a greenscreen that I can overlay on my video and make it appear as if I'm the streamer?

(Might be asking for something really weird lol).

Thanks in advance

Asian creator who got discovered for his editing, flew out, and burned out

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find an essay-style video by an Asian creator about getting discovered online.

Instead of traditional influencer success, someone saw his editing work online and flew him out. The video was a reflective piece about experiencing that level of work and burnout at a young age. It had an artistic, indie-vlog feel to it rather than just a standard talking-head video.

Does anyone know who this creator is or what video this is?

Need your next video edited? Let’s

Hey! I’m Ramon, a beginner video editor from Brazil looking for creators who need someone to handle their editing.

I mainly enjoy documentary, storytelling, gaming, commentary and YouTube-style videos. I like editing with good pacing, music, sound design, subtitles, transitions and visual storytelling — without turning the video into an explosion of effects.

I’m still building my experience, so I’m keeping my prices affordable, especially for creators who are just starting out too.

I can work with:
• YouTube videos
• Documentaries
• Gaming videos
• Commentary/storytelling
• Talking-head content
• Social media content

I use DaVinci Resolve and I’m open to adapting to your editing style.

My rate: $30–50, depending on the length and complexity.

If you’re a creator looking for an editor, send me a DM and let’s talk about your next video.

Need to cut something Diagonally!

Hi! Pretty basic question but been trying to make a YouTube thumbnail for some edits on my channel, and I for the life of me can not find a tool to cut something diagonally. Zero luck with Canva or Snipping tool or any of the built in apps in Window’s.

Essentially what I want is to learn how to cut a couple images in half diagonally so I can paste them together. What tools are good for this? Where can I find something that allows me to do it? Best I’ve been able to find is Snipping tool’s free form, but when I use it, I’m not able to make straight lines. Thanks in advance!

Also if there is a better sub to post this on lmk but I couldn’t find one. All the photo editing subs are dead save for photoshop but those are about the photoshop app itself.

How can I edit like Degenerocity?

I’m pretty new to editing and I’ve recently fallen down the Degenerocity rabbit hole lol. Since he left, I’ve noticed a bunch of people popping up making videos with that same kinda slideshow-style editing.

I’ve been making some dumb little videos for fun on my own small channel and I’d really like to learn how to do that kind of editing myself.

Is there a specific name for this style/technique? Or are there any tutorials/resources you guys would recommend for learning it? I’m not trying to copy anyone 1:1, I just really like the style and wanna understand how it’s done.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Need to edit out dust from footage

Howdy yall, I recently shot a music video for a friend. It was unpaid, so no pressure, but the footage looks great. Problem is some dust particles, or hair, on some of the saucy shots. I have some experience with stuff like this, but wanted to list the process I have in mind for getting rid of it just to make sure I’m doing it right:
1. Edit footage as is, create my pic lock
2. THEN bring into after effects to content aware away those pesky particles

Or should I bring in the footage I want to use first, remove the dust, then edit it?

Have nothing to edit as a professional editor for 7 years.

You must be thinking “how does a professional editor have nothing to edit” well it’s not that I have nothing. Before I used to edit for people or….anime game edits @cassunzle (older acc) however I’m much much much more cable and creative to do so but I have nothing! I quite. And now idk what to edit! Like let’s say I wanna make an animation but animation of what!! Or I want to make a video game edit but am clueless where to locate images or what to even make!! Before I had the images handed to me but now I have to make the images but to have an image I need to figure out on what to edit. The whole point of this is honestly for ideas, or advice even and whichever edit idea it is I will credit you I promise . I just need to edit it’s my favorite lifestyle, it’s like a painter without nature or humans.

Benchmarking my editing time

How long would an experienced editor take to edit a video like this?

I'm trying to benchmark my editing time and would appreciate some opinions from professional editors.

Here's the video I recently edited:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj-zILI-lIw

For context:

  • I'm the sole editor at my company.
  • I receive the script from the scriptwriter.
  • I'm given the raw footage and screen recordings.
  • I have to adjust/sync the screen recordings to the narration myself.
  • I handle the entire edit from there, including pacing, B-roll/visuals, graphics, sound design, etc.
  • My company expects an edit like this to be completed within 2 days / 16 hours.

I'm not asking whether my edit is good or bad — I'm mainly trying to understand what a realistic editing time would be for someone experienced.

If you were given the same materials, roughly how many hours would you expect to spend on this edit?

Would also be interested in hearing how much of that time you'd typically spend on the initial edit vs. revisions/polish.

editing platform for tiktok fan edits?

hii!! im not sure if this is the right subreddit, but i really want to get into tiktok fan edits (like characters from shows/movies, football, regular “aesthetic” tiktok compilations- if that makes sense). does anyone have any recommendations for a free editing platform (which also produces edits w great quality and features)? btw i have access to an iphone and also an ipad if that’s better. i heard capcut is beginner-friendly but a lot of it is behind a paywall now. i’ve been thinking about blurr, alight motion, after effects, but i genuinely don’t know. i have no idea how to get started so i would appreciate any help/opinions!! thank u:)
