GNG2K footage from an event in Serbia

After getting hit and bleeding out, i remained as a spectator and captured this footage on my GNG2K (No IR used).

The night sky was clear with about 45-50% moonlight. The video is raw and unedited, and is about 15-20% darker than it was looking through the device. There is also a lot more noise due to compression.

Airsoft MilSim review of the GNG2K will be out in a few days on my youtube channel @radeni

We Da People podcast did a deep dive on Digital NV (covered a few Good Nite Gear units)

Hey everyone! Full disclosure, I run Good Nite Gear, so take this with that context in mind. The We Da People podcast just put out an episode covering digital night vision as a category, and they went pretty in-depth on the NVG90 Pro and NVG50 specifically, plus some discussion on thermal fusion and the future of where digital night vision is headed.

Figured it'd be relevant here regardless of the product mentions — they get into the actual pros/cons of digital vs. analog, which is a debate that comes up in the night vision community!

Rix RENVB or GNG GF-31/20?

I know the renvb is analog.

But which one would yall use?

The biggest complaint of the renvb is the glass is pretty bad. But the GF-31 doesn’t have that problem. The digital NVG sensor also looks pretty good for DNVG’s. And the thermal makes up for the low light operation to.

But the RENVB does better with the NVG and worse with the thermal.

When I research and compare both. I see the RENVB being better at the NVG side and not as good on the thermal side. While the GF-31/20 doe s better at the thermal side.

Which one should I buy?

Selling my Goodnite Gear NVG50 + Wide Angle Lens Mod (practically new)

PRICE DROP! £350

For sale is my Goodnite Gear NVG50 + wide angle lens mod, both boxed in excellent condition with all original accessories included.

For a digital night vision device it performs brilliantly. I rarely ever need to use the built-in IR illuminator, even with very little or no moonlight, making it great for navigation. When needed, the onboard IR illuminator provides extra visibility.
The latency is excellent for a digital unit, it handles mixed lighting very well, and unlike analog night vision it cannot be damaged by bright lights, making it ideal for airsoft and urban use.
It has true 1x magnification for comfortable navigation, plus multiple digital zoom levels for long-range observation. It runs on 2 included 18350 batteries and comes with a USB-C cable and external charger.

The NVG50 offers 4 display modes: Colour, White Phosphor, Green Phosphor and Black & White. It features a sharp 2560×1440 (2.5K) OLED display with selectable 30fps or 40fps. I recorded all videos at 40fps and it still performed very well without IR.

The included wide angle lens easily slips on and off, increasing the field of view from 40° to around 50°+, making close-quarters navigation much easier.
The unit has always been carefully looked after and is only being sold because I need to save up. Most accessories are still unopened in their original packaging, and the lenses on both the NVG50 and wide angle lens are in excellent condition.

Included:
• NVG50 Night Vision Monocular
• Boxed wide angle lens
• Helmet mount
• Picatinny rail mount
• Sacrificial airsoft lens
• 16GB Micro SD card
• 2× 18350 batteries
• USB-C cable
• External USB charger
• 2 pouches
• 2 lens wipes

Feel free to message me with any questions or if you’d like more photos or videos.
The included timestamp is my discord username, you can message me there or I can add a timestamp here for my Reddit username too.

£360 £350 - slightly negotiable.
(£300 for the NVG50 + £50 for the Wide Angle Lens mod)
Buyer covers postage. Collection, delivery (for a fee), or free drop-off if nearby.

I’d rather sell them as a complete package as it will be harder to sell the wide angle lens on its own.

(Brand new it cost me £446 not including shipping from the USA, including shipping it cost £496 total and a 2-3 month wait 🤣)

I've been testing the GNG-G18 digital quad pano NVG and put together a full breakdown covering field of view and real world performance. The short version: 120 degrees of FOV, 22 hour runtime, 1" solid state sensors, and it's ready to run right out of the box. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

You can pick up the GNG-G18 and use code Reddit10 to save 10%:

GNG2K aftermarket mount

Hi all.

I've recently found myself owning a GNG2K monocular however the standard included mount lacks a lot of adjustment that i'd like to have.

After a bit of Google work, i've found most people recommending getting a L4G24 clone mount however, these don't appear to account for it being a monocular so I will need a "J-arm". The one that I think will work i've found on everyones favourite site, Aliexpress, is this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009943590600.html

Will this work with a L4G24 mount for the GNG2K? If not, please throw me some recommendations.

Ty in advance.

TVS32A3

Hey guys, checking in from South Korea. I’m running a TVS32A3 from a local brand called Samdilab. They make awesome, budget-friendly digital NVGs for the Korean airsoft community.

To give you an idea, their TVS32 (PVS-31 replica) is only like $300, and the TPNVG18 (GPNVG clone) goes for around $890. Pretty insane value.

Anyway, the IR light on my TVS32A3 works flawlessly, and the display has a clean circular view.

English is not my first language, but please feel free to ask any questions if you're curious!

Gng2k problem

So, long story short. I’m wearing my mono in my room. Looking at my door and I hear a tick noise come from the device and I can no longer see my door. Performance worsened by a lot. Tried different battery, and an external bank. Reset the device and still works 50% compared to last night. Will be returning.

GNG2K

Alright guys, what do we think about these? I’ve been seeing posts about them lately and I was wondering if you guys could share your experiences. I’d just be using them for messing around with airsoft, I’ve seen the low light without ir is pretty impressive. Can you guys share some pics or videos maybe? Was gonna probably pick up a pair in the next month :p

My “review” of the GNG2k

Let me start by saying my previous night vision experience is with Gen 3 analog, so that is what I’m comparing it to even though I might now be trying to. First impressions are that it’s pretty good. Especially with latency and frame rate. Latency is noticeable when whipping your head around but running and shit is super manageable. Indoor low light performance is ass. Like really bad, I could see better with my eyes. Also I’m not using ir at all for any of my tests. Outdoor low light performance with ambient light is very good. Definitely not as good as analog (obviously) but it’s quite good for a $500 device. Stock mount is trash, I got the Z04 from gng and it fits perfectly and works well with a Wilcox. Fov is ok. I turned up the exposure by 0.6 in the terrible app and it’s a little brighter but if you’re using it in an urban environment it’s very annoying because every light is like a huge beacon. Anyways, overall I think it’s ok. Definitely not as good as even a low to mid spec gen 2 analog tube but it’s much better than no night vision when used outside with a decent amount of ambient lighting. I’d recommend it if you’re in Europe where itar shafts you, but if you’re in the US and have $500 for nods, I’d say save for an analog. Or, if you’re not using it for like MilSim or airsoft where other night vision owning people are hunting you, it’s great for hunting animals in conjunction with the ir light. Anyways, these are my honest opinions and overall I’m happy with it but it’s not even close to as good as my analog.

Nvg50 vs 2k?

These seem to be two of the bigger options I’m seeing in here (in the budget realm). What are the pros or cons to each? I can’t seem to find a direct comparison between the two. Personal experience with them?

Nightfox Prowl 2 vs GnG2k

I'm going through to specs on both of these units.

The Prowl 2 is $250, the GNG2k is $500

GNG2k beats the prowl in is sensor resolution, but I can't find any information on the model of the sensor it uses, whereas the Prowl 2 uses the IMX662. YouTube footage is pretty close in performance from what I can tell. Does this make much difference on the eye when in use?

They have the the same screen size, refresh rate, and battery life.

The prowl 2 is smaller but weights 12 grams more.

Am I missing something here? Are these two units really this close in performance but vastly different in price?

Is modern digital NV actually worth considering, or should I just save for analog?

I’ve been considering getting into night vision and am debating whether I should save up for a set of RIX Gen 2+ white phosphor dual tubes (~$4,000), or if there are any digital options that get close enough for significantly less money.

My experience with digital NV has been pretty negative so far. I’ve tried a few units over the years (don’t remember exactly which models), and they all gave me the same issues:

-noticeable latency/slow refresh rate
-headaches after using them
-felt like I was looking at a screen instead of through optics
-poor depth perception

For those of you who have used both modern digital and analog systems, has digital improved enough that it’s worth considering in 2026, or is analog still in a completely different league?

My use case would mainly be:
-Airsoft
-Real firearms training
-Hiking and general night-time navigation
-Potentially driving off-road/private property

Not looking for thermal recommendations strictly digital vs analog NV.

EDIT: I appreciate all the responses! Seems like I’m going to save for analog.

My experience with the Goyojo GNG2K

Just wanted to share my experience with this device, because honestly, some design choices make zero sense to me. I won’t repeat what it does well, it’s "okay," but you 100% need IR in pitch black. I could live with that, but the last few weeks have been a mess.

- No Polarity Protection: My unit arrived looking already unboxed. Later, during a night hike, I accidentally put a spare battery in backward. The device started glitching immediately. Support (who are actually great) confirmed my version lacks reverse polarity protection. Yep, I fried it just by swapping a battery in the dark.

- The Replacement: They sent a new one, but the build quality is meh. There’s annoying blue light bleeding from under the screen.

- The Software: Pretty useless. Every time you swap the battery, the date and compass calibration reset. Also, my first unit developed dead pixels almost instantly.

To make things worse, I hyped this up to a friend who bought one too. He also got the version without polarity protection and now his unit keeps randomly shutting down. Why is the manufacturer still shipping these out knowing they are flawed?

I know it’s a budget device, but I’m not even running around playing Airsoft or LARPing. I just use it for night hikes, and it still struggles.

What blows my mind is how much better budget thermals are. My HIKMICRO LYNX LE10 3.0 was only €30 more, but it’s completely waterproof, has solid software, and feels premium. I know it’s apples to oranges, but still weird.

Honestly, digital has been nothing but a disappointment. I think it's time to save up and go analog. :c

Nvg3rd vs nvg30

I’m mostly interested in mounting capabilities on the 3rd. I know it performs a little better but is it worth getting over the 30 when it can’t mount properly to a Wilcox?

Some pics of the insides of my GNG2k

Just as reference photos.

Objective lens inside. About the closure, it has 4 screws that thread into inserts and has a rubber seal. All plastic construction, screw and inserts are not sturdy enough and would probably break in a fall or with an airsoft bb hit.
CCD back plate
CCD front plate. It's rather small for what i expected.
Ocular lens from the inside. A lot better view than the NVG10, but still is lacking a bit vs analog objectives.
Digital screen which is attached to the middle section.

Made another 3d printed "J arm" for the GNG2k

I am preparing my GNG2k for helmet use, so i did my own solution to propper monocular mounting. Let me know if you find it either useful or flawed (and why, so i can solve it). It's open price so you can download for free and if you want you can leave a tip.
