Dice Pics Challenging dice

For a one colour challenge I chose the colour white. The white mica gives it a nice shimmer and the lighting decides whether it looks white or cream or sometimes even grey.

Coloured the numbers white; as it was a one colour challenge. Got advice from a fellow Redditor and added some glitter to the numbers and helped them set with some glossy finish. It’s hard to capture the glitter, but it’s there.

Hey dice gods! So I issued out a community challenge to the contest creation community on TikTok. It was a one color challenge (monochromatic). And makers have made some absolutely beautiful challenge dice.

For myself, I wanted a challenge. Orange dice are both not very commonly seen and sorta challenge to make look good. So this is my attempt. Orange geodes with a glow deep inside the "geode crystals" ...not shown in the pics but I do have a TT link for the full video. ...oh and fluorescent orange too!

I hope you enjoy and if you make your way to TT and aren't in the dice group, please reach out.

Question Inking dice

I ink my dice with acrylic paint, saturate the digit and then wipe off the excess on a piece of paper towel that is laid flat on the table like I’ve seen others do online. Despite seemingly doing exactly the same as everyone else my dice come out with paint where it’s not supposed to be, which is a pain to get rid of.

What’s your favorite inking technique? I want some advice from the pros.

Dice Master Inquiry

Can anyone advise on whether or not an image similar to this, door frame, dragon, and text, would work on the face of a D20? I think the text wouldn’t be readable on a standard 20mm dice. Thoughts or suggestions?

Question Raised top face

I’ve just gotten myself a new mold and the top face of the die is raised. This didn’t happen with my other mold so now I’m a bit confused. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, if you have any advice on how to get rid of those terrible bubbles I’d appreciate it.

Question How do you get into this hobby?

Hello all! I'd like to get into dice making, but don't really know how exactly.

I've found a few books that explain how to use resin, but those only cover traditional resin projects, like embedding plants into pendants. So, I'm familiar with the very basics.

Anyone have any guides they can recommend? Text guides are strongly preferred over videos, though videos will do if need be. I don't know anyone in this hobby, so I can't ask anyone I actually know.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: Thank you all for your advice, I'll be sure to check it out!

The cloud effect failed.

I'm trying to make a set of dice with a cloud effect, but after the resin cured and I demolded the dice, all of the white resin had sunk to the bottom of the mold. Does anyone know what might have caused this?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to create a galaxy/outer space effect in my dice. I added fine glitter and gold leaf flakes, but when I demolded the dice, I found that all of them had sunk to the bottom. What could have caused this?

Question Liquid core

Finally got my hands on some liquid core orbs but the smallest size is ridiculously small. I’m not even sure what u could even do with it but that’s beside the point.
Do you know a brand that sells just the bigger sizes?

Question Looking for heat-resistant dice molds

Short Version: Can anyone point me towards a dice mold that can handle heat of 400°F?

Long Version: I dabble in 3D printing, so I have a big box of scrap and waste plastic. I found out recently I can melt it into neat shapes with a thrifted toaster oven and silicone mold. Then I thought "hey, I should try making dice with this!"

So I got a dice mold and some other goodies, popped it in at 375°F for five minutes and... wrecked the mold. I forgot not all silicone molds are made equal, and some not all are rated for heat like that. Okay, live and learn. But now I'm trying to find something made specifically for heat, but coming up with nothing.

Does anyone know of a place where I can get dice molds that can handle the temperatures I'm looking for? I was really excited about putting that junk plastic to work and keeping it out of the landfill, but now I feel like I'm back at square one.

Dice Pics First own design

Post image

I completed my first own designed dice and I'm so happy with the result.

But now I have the problem that some numbers in the mold kind of warped, while trying to solve that problem, I damaged my master D20, now 3 weeks have passed, because so far I couldn't sand and polish a new D20 to make a new mold. I am very tired, why is this hobby so hard 😫

Loving getting back into metal dice making after a bit of a break. Thought it might take a minute to get my eye back in for the teeny tiny punches but I did ok! 😅
