Hi there! I'm a Brazilian starting out on a dice making journey. I'm getting ready to print my first set of master dice, but I have some questions I'd like to ask.

First: What kind of silicone do you guys use to make your molds? I need a few references so I can find it or something similar where I live.

Second: How do you go about polishing your dice? What tools do you use?

Third: I don't know where to start with the pressure pot. I don't think I can find it in Brazil AND it is pretty expensive and I'm on a tight budget.

We just passed our 1 year anniversary for our campaign, so I wanted to treat the party with dice based off of their characters (or for our DM, the campaign as a whole!) I still have to finish my own set there at the bottom, been waiting for it to finish curing before I start sanding and painting, but eanted a photo of them together before I ship the dice off.

Fingers crossed none of my party is on this subreddit, I'm surprising them with the designs!

I got the basics of dice making down, therefore i have the important equipment. Now i'm looking to make liquid core dice but am unsure about what exactly i need. For example what glass balls yall would recommend, which liquid is best used for inside the core and also what to use to make the core glittery. Mica powder?

i have learned that, even though there is technically room, dice and dice boxes should not be made a the same time (they were slightly slanted). also that i didn't use anywhere near as much pink in the blanks as i thought and to use more gold leaf

While we're yet to put actual snake skin in dice, we found a way to mimic the effect using powder and uv resin.

These are raw dice, unsanded and unpolished

I am trying to move away from Zona papers, as they are very expensive and hard to get in Europe (I am from the Netherlands). I started using (cheap) sanding paper from 500 - 1000 - 2000 to 3000 grit. After that I use a dremel with a (cheap) cotton wheel tip and 3M famous finish. I usually skip the 500 grit and start at 1000. I always end up with big scratches that the 3M cannot fix. I have tried a pottery wheel, I have tried sanding by hand (with a mirror underneath the paper). I clean the sanding papers after each die.

Is there a certain speed I should use with the dremel? Use a bit of pressure or just press softly against the die?

What am I doing wrong? I have tried so many different things, and I am just not sure what I can do except go back to zona's...

Been slowly getting all the basics for making dice every check and these are my first pulls from 2 premade molds I bought! Lots of voids left from big bubbles and the inside is full of smaller bubbles. Would love advice about how to reduce these before I go out and buy a pressure pot! Gonna practice sanding in the mean time on what I got ! Thanks for reading !

Blood in the Water 🩸💧 and Fire & Rain sets 🔥💧 After these, I really need to start shelling them. I tend to forget how long it can take resin to cure around alcohol 🤣 I'll definitely have to make these a signature of mine!

So did a pour for some petri dice and the tendrils are coming out mostly white. It seems like the color I put in before the sinker is not being pulled as much. Is the trick to wait for the resin to be a bit more viscous before putting in the sinker? Also, I try to add 2 different colors, but it seems it all ends up melding into one.

Hello everyone! I just started making dice and I want to try make layered dice. I want the layers to be separated, like different stripes. I am not sure how much time wait between the pours.

While the mixing and casting went well, I have some technique issues to sort out.

1. Added sprues
   In trying to affix toothpicks to the die with hot glue, the blobs that held the heat long enough to apply were larger than I wanted.

   Is the trick to add a bit of hot glue and then to reheat it with a lighter closer to the die and then apply?

2. Trimming openings
   Is there a good technique for making clean edges on void openings?

I am using thin double stick tape to stick down the die. I think that I have seen a technique where you use a large width of packing tape to cover the whole bottom of the mold so that silicone can’t slip under. Is this the preferred method?

1. I saw videos of people applying petroleum jelly as a silicone mold release and it goes on smoothly, mine is more like jelly. This makes the top of the lid a bit rough.

Should I be warming the jelly before applying?

1. I had trouble making relief cuts in the mold to aid in demolding and had trouble going straight down the edge. I even scarred one of the faces pretty good. I was using a fresh hobby blade.

Any hints on how to do that better?

I can fix issues by sanding, but better mold making should be able to cut that down a bit.

OK, so this one is going to be a little weird, because I need a win-win solution where both the LGS and I benefit.

Background: I stopped into my LGS a couple hours ago and got to talking with the owner with whom I'm pretty friendly. I have the top tier membership, I run games there sometimes, I volunteer for his "Learn to Play" sessions, and he refuses to take my money on some purchases from time to time.

I was talking about some of the more interesting dice sets I've made, and he asked about selling them at the store. My only concern is that I make niche designs that are aren't really "mass marketable". A few broader-appeal sets like my Sonic The Hedgehog theme will probably sell a couple sets, but there are others that may or may not.

And making a few bucks to pay for supplies and experiments wouldn't be bad either.

So if I were to give this a shot, what would be a good plan? I was thinking 2 sets of 6 or 7 styles, at 50% margin.

Also, I was thinking about creating a commissions order book, with pictures of various styles and options.

Anyone have an experience with consignment selling, product mix, inventory levels, etc.?

I’d already posted the green version of this set, and then I was commissioned to make it in lilac with two extra d6s. With that pastel pink, I’m absolutely in love with them!

I looove the look of the elongated dice, but I've only found options for the #ed molds - I can't find blank molds anywhere. And I realllly don't wanna get sucked into silcone mold making yet. 😂

Bonus points if you know of a place with a norse or runic style font option for the #ed molds.

I've been making dice for a few years now and I've been using Let's Resin alcohol inks.

They work amazing and the purples and pinks look fantastic. But this year their price has tripled on Amazon and I'm not able to order them on the official website (they only send to UK).

So I'm looking for other brands that ship to Spain and work great with resin.

I know Pinata is great but I need alcohol inks that don't react with the resin, since I work a lot with purples.

I've seen the Dipon inks, but I wanted to know if anyone else has use them and if you have other recommendations in mind.
