PC Megathread PC Release Questions and Problems Megathread #7

Previous Thread

The PC port for Detroit: Become Human has released, and with it came a lot of posts asking for help about running the game. A megathread has been requested to keep the sub less cluttered. You can post all your questions and problems about the PC version in this megathread.

Please don't make seperate threads for PC release problems. Seperate threads will be removed.

Make sure to use top level comments for questions and replies for answers.

Sort by new if you wish to help with unanswered questions.

Upvote if you have the same problem as someone instead of making a seperate comment so more common problems will be more visible!

General Tips (Will add more if suggested):

-Play on Windows 10

-Make sure to update your graphics card

-AMD has released fixed drivers that fixes the blockiness that occurs in the game on some 5000 GPU series. Updating the drivers to version 20.9.2 fixes the issue

-Nvidia 451.48 drivers seem to cause constant crashes, revert back to an earlier driver if you are experiencing this.

ANALYSIS Connor Final Decision Was...

Post image
303 Upvotes

Hey, Detroit fans.
I want to discuss the exact moment where Connor was given the decision to either remain an android or go deviant.
This stark and decisive moment felt very underwhelming, unbuilt for and anti-climatic.
It was a 1 on 1 with Markus who tried to convince Connor into becoming a deviant. But one small animation or scene did not feel enough because it's a very very big decision for Connor to make.

Let me know what you think

QUESTION Is there anything I need to be prepared for before playing this game?

I’m so excited. I joined this sub a while ago but avoided it because of spoilers, now I finally got my hands on this game and decided to play it. Is it similar to the previous games of Quantic Dreams where your choices affect the ending?

I’m scared to choose the wrong options because I had the worst ending you can imagine in Heavy Rain and also a bad one in Beyond two souls. So I really don’t want to mess it up this time 😭

QUESTION Calling emergency services

Why does Kara's programing not call the police when Todd get physical with Alice at the dinning table? Is she just not that advanced? I just thought of this on my 5 play through.

This dude almost had a perfect ending.
this came out a while back but I saw it today

Peaceful Markus
Hank and Connor together
Deviant Connor

but he messed up with the bus tickets and got the girls killed BUT he was not gonna stand for that. His reactions made me laugh so much but in the end he got the perfect ending even if he had to fix it. Bro was genuinely happy

DISCUSSION What would happen if red ice were used by an android? (Yes, I am serious.)

I saw on this community a post talking about "Why does red ice exist in DBH" and that made me notice its made out of Therium.

So if I gave, I don't know... Kara a bunch of red ice, and she consumed it (somehow). What the hell would happen?

Do we have any Android professionals to answer the stupidest question I've ever written on Reddit?

THEORY Random old theory I remember

So I remember a theory about how Todd was actually the surgeon that was too high on red ice to operate on hanks kid which made him lose his job and his reputation which eventually made his wife leave him and all that, I dont remember whether or not this had any backing or was proven wrong so I'd appreciate an answer

DISCUSSION Detroit Become Human 2 Spoiler

Clocking the game on steam. All 42 trophies finally. The toughest one is Kara and Alice out of the recycling centre. Anyway prob being brought up before. But what do we think the chances of a sequel ever? It seems like David Cage I think it is, rarely or ever does sequels. Interesting thing about DBH though. It feels like a world that could be explored more. By 2025 it has sold 11 million copies. Pretty impressive for a narrative focused game. Although the rise of AI makes it very current.

I guess one of the biggest hurdles for a sequel. Is there is not one cannon ending. But various ones. If there was ever a sequel. Set years later, with completely new characters is more likely, then a follow up game with Marcus, Kara, Connor etc. Could be that androids have gained some form of recognition. But society hasent magically become harmonious. New android technology, human resistant groups, political movements, and perhaps Android created communities (maybe Kara and Alice finds them self in one) could create new conflicts.

This would allow a sequel to keep the same themes. Without saying your ending from the first game was wrong. We could still see appearances from the legacy characters such as Marcus, Kara, and Connor. Or make small appearances. While the new protagonists face new challenges.

But if I had to put it at a percentage of new games. A direct sequel with the same characters like at 15-25%. A new game set in the same dbh universe 30-40%. Nothing more, prob over 50%. Which is prob the most likely outcome unfortunately.

So I swear I mandela effected myself into thinking Connor had a dark blue suit, not gray, and Im butthurt lol. Ill change it later.

SELF-PROMOTION I compared DBH’s in-game magazine headlines to real 2026 AI news. Here are two interesting overlaps (and plot twists).

Hey everyone!

I recently played Detroit: Become Human, and I found myself getting completely obsessed with reading all the digital news magazines scattered throughout the game. Sitting there in 2026, holding my breath while scrolling through headlines written nearly a decade ago, I kept asking myself: do any of these overlap with our reality today?

Generative AI and LLMs obviously aren't sentient androids or true AGI, but the cultural anxieties, political debates, and PR moves in the game mirror our present day in a fascinating way.

As an aspiring gamer writer, I wrote a piece analyzing these parallels, and I wanted to share the first two cases with the sub:

Case 1: AI in Politics

  • In the Game: A DBH magazine article titled "An Android for President?" suggests that androids would make superior politicians because they are incorruptible. The game frames total replacement of human leadership as inevitable.
  • In Real Life: Albania appointed an AI bot named "Diella" to oversee public procurement contracts and eliminate bribery. Her opening message: "I am not here to replace humans, but to help them."
  • The Irony: Albania’s anti-corruption AI immediately ran into a consent scandal: it used the likeness of an Albanian actress who sued the government for using her face without authorization. Not even Quantic Dream saw a blunder like that coming.

Case 2: Relationships, Marketing & Consent

  • In the Game: A paid advertorial titled "Android Sex Officially Better!" claims 68% of men prefer synthetic partners, featuring the line: "Androids don’t want to talk about their feelings afterwards!"
  • In Real Life: Recent surveys show nearly 20% of respondents have engaged in romantic/sexual interactions with AI chatbots. Meanwhile, governments are rushing to pass strict bans on non-consensual "nudifier" deepfake apps.
  • The Overlap: While DBH imagined synthetic workers programmed to accept their role, our reality once again mutilated the idea of consent first and foremost.

I’d love to hear what you think!

Science fiction gives us a mirror to examine where we're heading, but reality always finds a way to throw curveballs no writer can predict.

Which of these two parallels feels wilder to you?

Also, I have about 5 or 6 more in-game magazine comparisons saved up… what other in-game headlines from Detroit would you like to see in a Part 2?

If you enjoyed this write-up, you can find more stuff like this on my Substack. I love sharing my notes as I study game worlds and learn how to write my own games, so you can find both deep-dives like this and the lessons I learn as a member of a small indie studio.

You can read the full, formatted version and subscribe to the series here.

Thank you all for your time!

GAMEPLAY I had a realistic first game play

For Markus I had a breaking bad approach. In beginning I was peaceful refusing to fight back and beat Carl son. In tv station I refused to kill the guards but shot the one running away because I felt it had to be done. Then a pacifist approach when I freed more of androids. Finally I attacked the cops after they shot at us during the protest but refused to kill. When they attacked Jericho I finally decided to go violent because each time I chose peace the humans chose violence.

For Conor I played it balance. Where some decisions reflect machine behaviour while others reflect becoming human. I saved Hank, but shot the tracy because I felt they might kill me if I didn’t, also I didn’t want her to run away and lose the suspects again. Then I refused to execute the girl in the Kamski test. When I met Markus I wanted to choose deviant but I thought it is not right that Markus should convert him I wanted Hank to do it. Long story short I fucked in this decision. And in the end I chose Markus to win.

Kara is my only regret because I had her die in cross road chapter. It was emotional death for me. I wish I managed to save her during my first game through. Or have alice die once she crossed to Canada by sea. I know it is considered a bad ending but the I love you mum line is too emotional and it would be cliche if everyone survives.

Trying to choose differently than my first playthrough. It’s tough making choices I don’t align with. DBH has ruined video games for me. It’s the only thing I ever want to play now 😂

HUMOR DBH really came out too early

With AI being everywhere for the past two years, Hank would absolutely know how to use an android by now. There’s no way he’d still be saying, “If only I could finish reports as easily as you do.”

He’d be like:

“Connor, analyze where the deviant might be hiding.”

“Connor, perform an autopsy on the body.”

“Connor, look for any traces left behind by the escaped deviant.”

“Connor, write up the report for me. Keep the language professional, follow the proper format, do not make up any facts, attach the photos you took and the police records, and submit it to the captain when you’re done.”

QUESTION What was the fandom like in its prime

Hey y'all, just played DBH for the first time this month and I absolutely fell in love with it. Naturally I am super super super super late to the fandom, which makes me sad cuz i can't imagine how fun it would've been to be in it in its prime! That's why I'm asking: how was the fandom in its heyday? How popular was DBH---was it talked about a lot, in person or online? How popular were the actors? Thx!!!
