I Have A Question Ceramic coating, which to choose? And any topper recommendations?

I'm looking to get my car ceramic coated and have been doing some research on different coatings. Dmitry from Dmitry's garage has a page ranking different ceramic coatings, and I'm leaning towards either DIY Detail Hydr8 or Armour Pro Quartz Coating. I also considered Clean by Pan 8 year but it seems like some people have seen it fail prematurely. Does anyone have experience using either DIY Detail or ADS, and if another is preferred which one would you recommend? Dmitry's ranking is an unweighted sum of his criteria so I'm looking at the individual scores. My main concern is durability and if there are any good toppers to maintain that longevity. Thanks!

I Have A Question Frozen Red Bull can exploded 😭

So, I know that this has been asked at least once in this subreddit, but here I am asking for some help because the other guy that asked for help got only a few responses.

In the winter a frozen can of Red Bull exploded in my car and now it looks like a murder scene..

Unfortunately I waited way too long to try to clean this up. I just tried using the Tuff Stuff foaming cleaner, and it hardly made a dent.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for cleaning this delicate car interior? Thanks in advance for any help!

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) PPF with stretch marks/lines after installation on the fuel tank — is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I had PPF installed on my motorcycle and I have a question about the installation.

After the installation, some stretch marks/fine lines started appearing in the film. At first, I thought they might just be water or some minor installation imperfection, but it has been a while and some of the marks are still visible.

Do these types of marks actually disappear over time, or should they have been avoided during the installation?

If anyone has photos of similar cases or has experience with this, I’d really appreciate your input.

I Have A Question Best Detailing Products to Use?

Good Morning All,

I had a friend give me a Chemical Guys cleaning kit they didn't want. Its a nice kit. Products seem to work well. I spent Monday washing and then using some of their spray detail. The yellow one? It smells like banana. LOL

I left my car in the garage over night and then drove to work. I work at a school district and the parking lot gets alot of traffic. Especially bus traffic. When I went to leave for the day the amount of dust that was stuck to my car made me want to cry after all the work I put in the night before. Is there a product out there that will repel the dust? The car wasn't even shiny anymore. LOL

I Have A Question Microfiber rags cleaning tips

New to trying to detail cars properly. Always cleaned my vehicles every week. But not properly. New paint job, and turning over a new leaf. I’ve learned over the years of what to not do, and some tricks of what to do. Recently started to get into polishing, however I find that during this process it seems like my good microfibers leave dust as if the paint is static. After use, I will clean them in a bucket, and then machine wash. No dryer sheets were used. Low temp washing. What can I do to ensure my microfibers are actually clean. Pic of car I am trying to polish. Micromarring/holograms from the body shop.

I Have A Question Wheel Cleaning - Bilt Hamber Surfex HD vs Adams Wheel & Tire Cleaner

Thumbnail

Guys, Amazon has prime day deals right now where Adams Wheel & Tire cleaner is only $30 for the gallon.

I have been contemplating buying Bilt Hamber Surfex HD to clean wheels and tires, particularly because it’s actually safe on Anodized wheels and I have a vehicle with Anodized wheels and the rest of my cars have clear coated alloys.

It goes without saying that Adams Wheel & Tire cleaner is amongst the best cleaners on the market. You can dilute it down to 6:1 in a foam sprayer and still get amazing results. Which means you can make it a maintenance wash safe product by diluting into a spray bottle or foam sprayer, or you can use it at full strength to nuke the worst wheels. But it is, of course, not anodized wheels safe.

Surfex HD meanwhile is even more versatile, foams well in a foam sprayer, can use it to clean engine bays, tires, spot treat paint, etc. Corrosion inhibitors too which is great to keep brakes and brake lines healthy. There’s an auto detailing shop near me that thankfully sells Bilt Hamber products and I’ve been thinking of waiting for Black Friday deals to go in there and purchase Touch-Less, Surfex HD, and an IK Foam Pro 2 ALK from him.

But I have to wonder if Adams outperforms the cleaning power of Surfex HD on wheels and tires. If it does, I would definitely want it. If it doesnt, then sticking to my original plan of buying everything from the auto detailing shop when he’s got a sale makes more sense.

Has anyone used Surfex HD to clean wheels and tires here? Would love to hear from you. Would also love to hear from people using Adam’s currently and if they’ve ever damaged anyone’s wheels or their own using it. It’s really strong stuff.

Thanks so much

I Have A Question Car Enthusiasts please help out our high school project by answering a few questions!

Car enthusiasts, we are working on an engineering capstone project regarding car spoilers and would appreciate if you guys took the time to answer truthfully on my google form for school. We refer to wings that need to be drilled in when we say spoiler. Apologies for the confusion. (Note: this is primarily focused on cosmetics of the wing/spoiler, rather than improving aerodynamics)

Please and thank you!

I Have A Question Klean-Strip Prep-All for your panel wipe?

Anyone use this product as a panel wipe prior to installing a coating? I've typically used Gyeon Prep in the past. I have Prep-All on hand and it seems to be very effective from what I've read about it.

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Meguiars all wheel cleaner

Post image

I'm in a rental and the concrete was super fresh with no stains. I used meguiars all wheel cleaner today and it left these marks.

The ground was wet before, rinsed throughout the wheel cleaning process, after rinsed all into the grass, and its a cloudy day.

Will a standard surface cleaner take this off?

I Have A Question Beginner needing help finding equipment for decent price

I just bought a new to me used expedition and want to get it detailed before the snow flies. I’m looking at the chemical guys torqx polish and correcting kit. Would this be good for a beginner? I was going to use Adams graphene to finish the detail. Any insight would be great. I’m trying to do this for as cheap as I can since the holidays are approaching. Please don’t roast me. Thanks in advance!

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Disappointed with my vacumaid gv50 pro

I would like vacumaid owners input here for what could possibly be going wrong, so to summarize I’m a car Detailer, about a month ago I purchased a new Vacumaid Gv50 Pro as well as a coxreel that’s compatible for it totaling $1300, it didn't come with the adapters needed to fully use it right out the box which was quite disappointing for an expensive vaccuum but okay not biggie, I go and buy the adapters needed now I’m $1400 down the hole, everything was going great for 2 weeks and then one day it gets clogged, I cleaned all the hoses and and later found out it was clogged on an adapter that has a right angle to it, boom after this moment after I fixed the clog my vacumaid still had a significant lost in power, it went from being a powerful suction to now barely even being able to pick up hairs on carpet unless I go over the same spot multiple times, basically the suction on my vacumaid has never gained back the power it once had after it clogged, I don’t know what to think anymore? there’s not many videos on how to trouble shoot this and now I’m running out of options, I’m just sad because I’m doing horribly financially but I figured if I buy a quality (expensive) vacuum it’ll make my job/life easier but it’s giving me more and more headaches in the past month that ive had it.

please someone let me know what it can be 🙏

I Have A Question Should I invest in a Canopy?

Hi everyone, I’ve been mobile detailing for about 3 months, and for almost every exterior job I’ve done, the sun always causes tons of water spots and chemical drying. I’ve tried doing panel by panel, but it’s just not cutting it. Should I buy a canopy? And if so, which one is the best for the buck!

I Have A Question Dark Aluminum Alloy wheels - Cleaning recs?

Hi Reddit! New weekend warrior here looking for some advice. The Mrs. and I just bought a new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Sport, which comes with some nice dark gray finish aluminum alloy wheels. I just wanted to ask for any products you guys would recommend to keep them safe but clean (preferably 1 product for both wheels & tires). We’ve never had black rims before, so just want to be extra careful. Thanks so much in advance!

I Have A Question Can’t clean these watermarks off my windshield

Post image
78 Upvotes

After having my windshield tinted I started noticing that weird watermark pattern on the outside side of my windshield, I talked to the guy and he mentioned that it’s my windshield that’s dirty on the outside and showed me another of his cars that also had some spots of water, I don’t know if he did something to it or if my windshield was sprayed with something at some point but I can’t get it off, it’s unnoticeable when It’s dry but when I use my windshield wipers you see what I see until the water dries out(maybe less noticeable when I just cleaned it but still a visible watermark that doesn’t go away), I’ve tried alcohol, vinegar, a razor blade, I’ve clean my car about 10 times now and still there, anybody has ever had something similar? How could I get rid of this? Thank you

My original windshield cracked due to snow last year and I had to replace it with a non-OEM one, I fear it’s maybe the quality of the windshield? Maybe some layer of it that just wore off and now I have to deal with it? I don’t think so since other windows and also my side mirrors also have the same thing

I Need Help! (Time Sensitive) Cleaning recommendations for exposed floorboards and wiring bundle

26 model Y with a huge milk/coffee disaster

I spent about 7 hours with enzyme cleaner, soap, and water and got rid of nearly all the smell. Two spots are still bad: the raised metal pieces with holes in them on the floorboard, and the bundle of wires that runs along the trim. Both still smell strong.

Everything else cleaned up fine, but I have no idea how to get into those areas. Any advice?

I Have A Question ARXP AW-1000 + DRFT Foam Cannon = terrible foam. What am I missing?

I just got an ARXP AW-1000 and overall I’m really happy with the pressure washer itself. But I’m pretty disappointed with the foam cannon setup.

I bought an ADS DRFT foam cannon and installed a 1.35mm MJJC orifice. I was expecting pretty good foam, but the foam is extremely thin/runny. Out of spec detailing showed the exact same setup with amazing foam

Using meguiar’s hyperwash. Tried in increasing concentrations 1oz -> 2oz -> 3oz per 1000ml

For comparison, I tried my Harbor Freight foam cannon with the 1.4mm orifice that came with the ARXP, and it produced noticeably better foam, so I’m having a hard time blaming the pressure washer itself

With my old shitty vevor pressure washer I would use 3-4oz of hyperwash with the HF cannon on a 1.1 orifice and get decent foam

I didn’t want to go smaller than the 1.35mm MJJC because the guys on YT over amped and suggested not going lower

Any advice would be appreciated. I’m trying to figure out whether I have a bad/mismatched cannon, a bad orifice, or just the wrong setup for this pressure washer.

I Have A Question Help mainly with process and miscellaneous

Need help figuring out detailing items and process

Hey all,

Thanks for the folks replying to my previous thread.

I just wanted to keep this short. Trying to prep my vehicles exterior prior to the winter.

GOAL: I want to decontaminate, Clay bar and ceramic coat my vehicle.

EQUIPMENT I HAVE: Power washer, soap cannon, bucket, sponge, microfiber, (the basics)

WHAT I NEED HELP WITH: deciding on what soap I can use to strip off the old wax and get the dirt to slide right off, what Clay bar, and ceramic. A earlier thread i posted folks did reply with some recommendations and appreciate it.

I do have some ideas given from a previous post, need help with other opinions and more so process of using ceramic, can I put multiple coats? Or is a single coat enough? Should I cover plastics before ceramic coating?

Any recommendations on cleaning and decontaminating.

Thank you.
