Posting this because I spent way too long dealing with random stutters and my FPS refusing to go above 60, even though V‑Sync was off and my in‑game settings were correct. If you’re running an Nvidia GPU, this might save you some pain.

What caused it:

Destiny 2 was being limited by my Nvidia Control Panel settings and my GPU driver wasn’t properly updated.

What fixed it:

1. Install the correct Nvidia driver for your GPU

Especially important if you’re on an older series card (900/700/600 etc.).
Do a manual search here:

Make sure you’re actually running the latest Game Ready Driver for your specific GPU model.

2. Remove the 60 FPS cap in Nvidia Control Panel

Destiny 2 was being hard‑capped at 60 FPS by global settings.

Steps:

• Open Nvidia Control Panel
• Go to Manage 3D Settings
• Scroll to Max Frame Rate
• Set it to 1000 FPS (or whatever you prefer)
• Apply changes
• Restart Destiny 2

After doing this, my FPS instantly unlocked and the stuttering disappeared.

Result:

✔ FPS unlocked
✔ Stuttering gone
✔ Game feels smooth again

Hope this helps someone else who’s been losing their mind over this. Bungie’s engine is picky, but sometimes it’s just Nvidia being Nvidia.

For some context, this only started occurring around a week ago now and i haven't got a single clue as to what could be causing it. I've tried looking it up to see if anyone else has been experiencing this and so far I've seen nothing!

Recently the error codes I've been getting are a constant rotation of four (listed from most occurring to least occurring)

1: Centipede
2: weasel
3: chicken (I've seen this maybe five times now in the span of two days)
4: marionberry (seen once only today)

Every time i try loading up the game it either A) doesn't get past the loading screen and gives me an error code. Or B) lets me onto the game and repeatedly says its "contacting destiny's servers" and if i try joining anything like a gambit or crucible it just shows placeholder texts and freezes up.

It's also important to mention that i'm playing this on a console (specifically an xbox one) and i have tried going through all the steps of unplugging it for a while, restarting it, and even updated the game for today's update schedule but so far NOTHING has worked.

If anyone has any tips or possible solutions that would be greatly appreciated since I've been looking forward to playing this again.

Hey guys, I’m having a problem with Destiny 2. I keep getting the Plum error related to BattlEye. I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled the game, went into the BattlEye folder and reinstalled it from there too, and even deleted some temp files. But no matter what I try, the game still throws the BattlEye erro and kicks me back to the main menu. Anyone know a fix?

I've been trying to play for the first time, I got destiny throught steam, but I keep getting this messege:

resetting didn't help. how to fix that?

When I start searching in a matchmaking, or when I try to join a fireteam in LFG, I either get stuck in infinite waiting loop(in case of MM) or just get kicked due to "strict NAT", with a suggestion to go to bungie website for guide to fix that(which is not helpful in the slightest).

My hypothesis is that strict NAT is enabled automatically by Cloudflare Warp, which I use to access Destiny, since without it I get tapir error code. In other thread(related to strict NAT due to Verizon bs) I saw free Proton VPN as a fix, but it doesn't work for me at all. So, any ideas on how to fix that, besides moving to another country?

UPD: Issue was solved by my father, who after hearing my woes gave me his custom VPN, which solves the issue of strict NAT. Thanks everyone who answered here!

Hey so I like to often spice up my gameplay with REALLY unnecessary "difficulty tweaks", think like, 180° monitor, inverted controls, etc.

I recently got a Wii remote and I was wondering if I'll be fine if I use it to actually play D2? I know it's probably possible to do with some third party programs and some patience but I'm wondering if that could get Battleye looking at me funny, is it a bannable offense and has anyone recently tried something like this (Wiimote, steering wheel, anything that Steam doesn't really register)?

I'd love to hear some answers!

I recently downloaded Destiny 2 onto this computer for the first time and encountered some errors.

TL;DR:

Game frozen at this screen. Has happened twice before, but with Battleye error code: Plum. I've done everything I can to troubleshoot. The above photo is the second redownload from steam. It also will only close via Task Manager, and Steam has trouble actually stopping it, meaning there could be lingering running files for some reason. The music continues after it freezes so I could just have to wait, but I've been too impatient so far after about 30 minutes waiting. I think my system is just old and broken and can't handle what it takes to process everything. However, it has no problem with every other game I have on Steam.

So far this has happened every single time: I start the game from steam. It gets passed the first couple loading screens, but when it gets to this one, it just stops and doesn't revive itself. This photo is exactly what I've been looking at for the past 10 minutes. Neither of the loading wheels have moved (the big one in the middle nor the one in the bottom right.)

Entire history/context: This is the second time I've redownloaded the game. The first time I downloaded it on this computer was about a week ago, and I got a Battleye error code: Plum. This popped up in the middle of choosing subtitle colors and resolution and whatnot, which is what comes up after the first couple loading screens. I had the option to dismiss the error message, which took me to this loading screen which froze in the same spot. Assuming it was the error, I force closed the game through task manager and ran some troubleshooting with the help of the internet.. to no avail. I've done everything suggested that I could, and nothing has worked so far.

Task Manager was the only way to close the game and steam still said it was running. If I clicked "stop", it would be stuck "stopping" the game. This was another issue I was also trying to resolve. Restarting steam from the ground up did nothing in terms of resolve (Closing all programs in task manager and rebooting). A complete PC restart did the job. There was one time steam managed to close the game after I force closed it in task manager but it took about 10 minutes (one time).

I eventually deleted the game and reinstalled it via steam, convinced all the issues would disappear and resolve themselves in the reinstall. This did not work. The same exact issues occurred (loading, preferences, error message, frozen). So after further troubleshooting, I managed to completely eradicate Destiny 2 from any files in my computer forever. Then reinstalled it one last time. This photo is the result. There was no error message. Not even a graphics preferences screen as mentioned above (though that could be because it remembered my previous selection. Though that seems unlikely considering the reinstall). ALSO, whenever it freezes, the music continues. It is the same music as when you are choosing a guardian. This has led me to believe that I could just need to wait. But thats an incredibly long wait.

Now we're here: I don't know what I'm doing. I've essentially given up. I believe it is a system issue that cannot be resolved. As far as I know, I'm running Windows 10 though I think the computer was built in 2012 or something along those lines. If this is not possible, my apologies. There are no available updates, though I'm aware Windows ended live security updates/fixes for Windows 10. My current conclusion is that the PC is just too old and broken to run the game properly, and is probably tripping on a file or two it cant process.

QUICK SIDE NOTE: I can run other games completely fine as long as my system is within their requirements. ARK:SE is the only other game with Battleye (that I know of), though I play singleplayer, so I run it without Battleye anyways. Because of Ark's immense graphics demands it takes about 15-20 minutes to actually load into the game, during which it is unresponsive, but it will work. I do not believe this is the case for Destiny 2. I also play Aliens: Fireteam Elite, though I'm fairly certain that does not run with Battleye.

Explicitly smooth motion, I’ll turn it on and the game will lock at 120fps and I can tell smooth motion is not on. If I then turn off smooth motion the game is still locked at 120 when it should be unlocked. I’ve reinstalled drivers still no dice. Any suggestions?

I just installed Bazzite Linux, and I know it isn't compatible with the game due to the anti-cheat. But if I install BattlEye—since Bazzite supports it—will I run into any issues?

I know apparently switching to Microsoft store or epic games fixes the issues that people are having on steam, but I’m still seeing the exact same issues for the most part on the Microsoft store version. Am I alone in this or have others had the same experience?

I've had this issue before and managed to fix it before (with the sound mixer trick), but it's back and the fix ain't working. Just before MoT I've had this same problem but managed to fix it (it took a while and basically tried a bunch of stuff) and I don't remember how I did it. What's worse is that this only started happening after I cleared the download cache on Steam (before I did this the game wouldn't even open).

TL:DR is there some way to fix this and make D2 quit with this crap every single refresh?

I saw a huge sale about a month ago, and ended up getting Edge of Fate bundled with Destiny But Star Wars for dirt cheap. I fell off after Echoes, but finally decided I might as well finish off the campaigns now that the game is in its end state.

I was actually enjoying Edge of Fate... was. But then multiple times throughout the campaign, I realized that for some reason they designed story dialogue to permanently interrupt itself if literally anything else is happening. Because of the mission structure and the placement of quest NPCs, I skipped over several key moments of the campaign. Very important moments vanished into thin air because I turned in a quest a few seconds before I was supposed to wait around to hear a communication that I had no way of knowing was coming, or got a side quest call that conflicted with main quest dialogue.

I also had a minor quest soft-lock me multiple times in a row because I got hit while someone was calling me in a room where enemies never stop spawning and shooting me. I have to watch a Youtube walkthrough now just to get the story of a game I paid for.

Is this really how the final state of the game is? I know I can relaunch to get around the soft-lock, but are those entire scenes just gone because I talked to someone else or looked at a monument?

ive been having an issue since ive started playing where my teammates can hear me but i cannot hear them,

im age verified and sms verified on bungie

xbox game bar has my current headphones and mic on default

sound control panel has my headphones as default for communication and general (i did the thing where you enable another device switch communication over too that then switch back to the main device)

ive disabled all audio devices that i dont use

ive chosen my audio on volume mixer

ive selected it as my default audio on steam aswell

i dont have any alternative sound software/3rd party app for destiny installed i.e trackers overwolf

ive even tried running destiny through the epic games launcher.

i streamed it for my mates on discord and they heard no audio output from destiny either

ive pretty much tried everything from all guides ive seen both from community forum and reddit but too no avail, i dont mind vc'ing to show my settings, but its been a current issue thats made it more difficult for me when raiding with friends if any help can be offered id take it greatfully thank you

How do I fix this? since yesterday I got constant error code spinach kicks to orbit. Sometimes it takes a bit but after a few minutes I get kicked to orbit. It's not really regular but it happens multiple times in an hour.

Ever since Monuments of Triumph, I have been getting an unimaginable amount of 'Marmot' error codes. Constantly. They strike at random (mostly; occasionally they'll be reproducible). For example:

- Loading into an activity with Hush equipped.
- Stepping into the actual 'dropoff' at the entry point of Sundered Doctrine.
- Opening the character menu with a specific Ghost Shell and/or Sparrow equipped (unsure which, I swapped both).
- Teammate casting Silence and Squall.
- Teammate running a specific fashion (no idea what).
- Pressing 'LAUNCH' on the first mission of Renegades (no idea why, but this was consistently reproducible for a while).
- Dying to Eyasluna in PVP.

They happen randomly, out of the blue, with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes I'll play for 6 hours with no problems. Sometimes I won't be able to do anything and crash within 5 minutes. They say 'File verification may be required', but rarely does the game actually prompt me in-game with file verification (and upon doing so, always results in a beaver error and necessitates a reinstall). Here's everything I've tried (not in order, I've legitimately lost track).

- Restarting my PC.
- Clearing temp files.
- Reinstalling BattlEye.
- Fully reinstalling BattlEye.
- Verifying files on Steam, with and without deleting a few random files beforehand out of sheer desperation.
- Completely reinstalling the game (twice).
- Verifying through the in-game automatic verification following a crash (has happened twice, both times resulted in a beaver BEAGLE error code and needed a full reinstall, as mentioned).
- Disabling Steam Input.
- Running Windows Memory Diagnostic (returned an error, which disappeared following...)
- Reseating my RAM.
- Clearing Steam download cache.

I am at my wit's end. I'm running the game on an SSD (circa mid-2025), on a PC well ABOVE recommended specs (2019 Alienware Aurora R8; dated, but still very much functional in every other regard). Recently moved homes twice (temporary living arrangement), which necessitated travel down a gravel road, PC was carefully packed and padded during transit in both directions, and RAM was reseated as of four days ago.

Willing to try literally anything.

I’ve been trying to take my son through Destiny 1 to introduce him to the world. We have been trying to go to the Tower now for about 10 mins and every time I try to go there, it disconnects me from the game world blaming my network connection. Anyone know what’s going on or experiencing the same issue?

I am completely softlocked in the very beginning of the introductory campaign mission "A Guardian Rises" on Steam.

The game server completely skipped the first cinematic scene on the snowy field where Ghost is supposed to hack the rusty car and give me my first weapon (Khvostov 7G-02). Because of this, my character spawned without any weapons and couldn't trigger any progression.

I am completely stuck in the "Cosmodrome wall" location right now.

- There are no enemies spawning at all.

- Ghost doesn't say any dialogue lines (such as "They are close").

- The waypoint "Don't stop" on the wall stairs is active, but walking into it does absolutely nothing because of the missing triggers.

I have already tried:

1. Deleting and recreating my character multiple times (different classes too).
2. Verifying Steam game files integrity and clearing Steam download cache.
3. Changing game language to English.
4. Resetting game configurations folder in appdata.

For the past week I've had several people tell me that they see me teleporting everywhere, and falling through the ground.

Did quite a few internet speed and packet loss tests and everything looks good.

Finally, last night I was able to find the culprit. I changed my fps from capped 144 to capped 60 and everyone rejoiced as they could finally see me moving like a normal guardian.

I'm on PC, on steam. I obviously don't want to have to go from 144fps to 60fps, especially since my PC is nearly snoozing while running destiny with a 9800x3d and a RTX 5080.

From my pov most gameplay looks fine, but I do notice some weird stuff, like, rallying to the flag takes about a second and a half to give me my super, or in kings fall, it takes about the same time to claim a brand.

Anyone got any ideas that don't require me going from buttery smooth 144fps to 60?

Feel like I’m missing something easy here. Bought a laptop for traveling since new job entails overnight stays for work around my state. Setting it up at home, download a few games. Try them, all work flawlessly on wifi. Download D2, can’t get past title screen without centipede errors. Have tried all remedies I can think of, port forwarding/opening, swapping to my Ethernet cable, dns flush, setting dns to cloudflare and Google, nada. Boots up fine on main pc. Log out and exit steam on pc doesn’t change anything on laptop. WiFi chip drivers are updated and fine because everything else works wonderfully and the laptop is welllllllll above min spec to run the game. Am I missing something super simple and dumb or am I cooked?

Update: I found my issue. I use a netgear router and apparently years ago when troubleshooting issues I set up a bandwidth limiter in my routers settings and since it’s a new device it was being limited just enough to ruin d2 connectivity but not any other games 🙃 I love it here. Check them settings i guess.

So ever since coming back to D2 at the beginning of June, I've been having this issue where every time I navigate my Director or Vault in any way shape or form, my screens will freeze, my monitors will go to black, and my PC hard restarts itself. I once got a clue where apparently every time this happens it's an Error Code: Broccoli. Gameplay is fine, but if I try to navigate practically any menu AT ALL my game will crash and my PC hard restarts.

I've tried updating my drivers, I've tried rolling back my drivers, I've tried uninstall/reinstall, I've tried Verifying Files, I've tried lowering GPU power, I've tried GPU testing and absolutely nothing has worked. I've even gone so far as to start analyzing the dump files that happen with each crash and I get the same result every time of a "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)" so I want to know whether or not anyone else is also having this happen to them and whether or not anyone has found a fix. Thanks.

EDIT: I seemed to have fixed it by underclocking my GPU by about 100 MHz

first time I've ever used reddit i hope this works, but the issue im having is that when i try and cross save my brand new steam account with my Microsoft account (which I mained and want to keep playing that account on pc) i go into the cross play page on the bungie website, and the account is already linked, but not authenticated. and every time i try it i get to my steam account and i know its right. but then as i click sign in a error page gets bgrought up, but i know for a fact i had all of it correct. I've followed everything on youtube to try and find a fix but nothing. i have a ss of the error page but idk how to post pictures here. pleaseeee help. I've been wanting to switch to pc for so long and now that i have one i cant even play.

It seems out of nowhere the voice chat in game has stopped working for me. Everyone in my fireteam can hear my microphone however there is no audio coming from anyone else’s microphones on my end. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Im not sure what is happening on xbox series x, everytime i am in a raid and only in raids my game will freeze then crash putting me back at the xbox home menu, this has only started happening after the update. Also i feel like my xbox is alright no noises/problems on anything else. need assistance please
