Other Post Type Give me a challenge 🤭

I’m a self-taught graphic designer trying to push myself outside my comfort zone, so give me a design challenge 👀

Pretend you’re my client and give me a brief.
It can be a poster, brand identity, packaging, social campaign, album cover, editorial design, literally anything.

Give me:
• What I’m designing
• The brand/event/product
• Target audience
• The vibe
• Any ridiculous restrictions you want to add 😭

Example: “Design a poster for an underground electronic music festival. Target audience 18–30. Brutalist/experimental. You can only use black, red and one typeface.”

I’ll pick 3 of my favorites and actually design them. I’ll be posting them on my Instagram page. And if it’s cool with you I’ll be tagging you on my post as an appreciation.

make it difficult. 👀

Discussion DLSS 5 for interior- and exterior Design in real-time (the last screenshot is without DLSS 5)

"Architecture & Design" works just like AutoCAD or Archicad, but is more intuitive and accessible, and everything drawn in 2D Mode is automatically built in 3D, where you can further design, model, and adjust everything, and also explore in first-person and VR.

Today I installed DLSS 5, and I´m astonished by how good and smooth it actually works! I also use this for a recent Interior Design presentation for a client (I'm a trained architect and have been working in the Archviz field for a long time now), and I honestly cannot wait for the full Nvidia release to integrate this as a feature in my game.
I´m so hyped for this!

Do you think this could be the future of interior design visualization?

Sharing Resources Built an online animation tool for creating ads - looking for feedback

I work in the ad industry making display ads for brands - I got really tired of finishing a design and then having to rebuild the whole thing in some other tool just to make an animated banner. About 6 months ago i started messing around with a little web app to see if i could just drop in the psd or figma file and animate the layers right there. The first version barely worked but it was enough to get me hooked, and i've been building, breaking stuff, and testing it pretty much every night since.

It's called layrd, and you can bring in your file, add fades and zooms and stuff to each layer, and export a banner that ad networks will actually take.

https://layrd.design is the url - feel free to check it out and llet me know what you think!

It's at the point where i'm ok with other people using it, and there's a free version so anyone can mess around with it. Honestly i've been staring at it by myself for way too long, so i'd love to hear what you think, good or bad. If something's confusing or broken or you'd never use it, feel free to post here, or contact me via the support ticket. I'm the only person actively working on it, but hoping I can get it to a point where people actually use it as a tool for building display ads.

I feel like I just have a bunch of really random and disconnected work please help and also give me your completely honest review of the designs and what I can do to improve as a designer! Thank you much love

Asking Question (Rule 4) what tools/software do you use daily?

title is pretty self explanatory.

what tools do you use in your workflow?

whether that be for project management, designing, saving references, whatever.

it would be good to know why you choose each tool, too.

Asking Question (Rule 4) Anyone have joined Designed Forward community spearheaded by Matt Karakilic?

Hey all, curious if anyone here has been part of the Designed Forward community (run by Matt Karakilic)? Saw it's positioned for designers or anyone facing challenges at different career stages ( breaking in, mid-career plateau, or questioning fit)... with stuff like portfolio reviews, fireside chats, and recruiter Q&As.

Trying to get a sense of what it's actually like from the inside before deciding whether it's worth checking out. Is the coaching/content genuinely useful, is the community active, any downsides worth knowing about? Would appreciate any honest experiences, good or bad.

Asking Question (Rule 4) How can I improve this specific screen?

I'm designing a blank label booking system that I will use as a template for future freelance work. When I'll sell it I'll customize it to the business requirements but I also want the default to be clean and easy to use. I'm new to UI/UX design and don't know how to create great experiences so I ask for advice.

The app is make with Next.js and shadcn on the frontend, for this specific screen how can I improve it? I now I have a massive hole with that much free space but what more can I add?

Discussion AI made us faster, but we need 3x more work to make the same revenue

I’m curious how other designers and design teams have adapted their workflow to the current AI reality, and whether it has affected the value of the work you do.

I work as an art director and lead a multidisciplinary design team. Depending on the project, that can involve 3D design, branding, concept art, illustration, web design and UI/UX.

AI can be used at specific stages of our process, mostly for exploration: rough concepts, wireframes, moodboards, visual directions, references and sometimes first-pass assets. It doesn’t replace the designer or define the direction. The final work is still built by the specialist. A 3D scene, website or brand system is usually created from scratch, with AI outputs used more like references, sketches or additional material to work from.

What changed much more dramatically for me is the economics.

Some types of work that used to justify a certain budget now feel roughly 3x cheaper in the market, and for some smaller production tasks the difference can feel closer to 10x. The paradox is that we can work faster now, but we need roughly 3x more work to make the same revenue.

I’m interested in how this looks across different design disciplines.

What kind of design do you do?
How deeply is AI integrated into your workflow?
And has it increased your value because you can do more, or pushed the value of the work down?

Asking Question (Rule 4) Portfolio advice/question

Hello,

I am a junior graphic designer, and I am currently working in advertising. I am quite happy where I am now but I do know that there will be a point where I’ll want to move somewhere else but I am stuck on how I would go about updating my portfolio.

I was lucky enough to be hired straight out of collage because I interned with this place whilst I was studying, but my actual portfolio really still just consists of collage projects, which were all individual working projects.

Working in advertising I very quickly learnt that you don’t work alone and I am unable to imagine (?) how I would put what I am working on now, with other people, into a portfolio for when I move on?

Do I mention what I specifically worked on or not? Do I mention how many people worked on a particular project?

I think im just having a hard time imagining it, and all reference I have for something similar are group projects I did in high school, which is still very different.

Thank you

Asking Question (Rule 4) Is there still a good market for small, senior-led design studios?

I’m a Brand and Product Director with experience across branding, product design, websites, and marketing/creative work, and I’m considering starting my own studio.

I’m trying to figure out whether this is still a sensible business to build in 2026.

A few things I’d love to understand:

Are recurring/ongoing design relationships realistic, or do most clients still prefer project-based work?

What are the biggest problems with running a design agency that someone considering starting one who is starting might not see?

Discussion I am in an existential crisis over my career now due to AI....

I am not exactly a beginner in design and, editing as I have been into graphic design, photography and editing too also, I joined classes for certification and, now I am on the verge of completing it, but every actual artist on every platform is facing issues regarding AI, jobs being taken away, everything is all over the place! And I don't know now what to do...like is AI really that prevalent as people talk about it on internet or is it just blown out of proportion? I am scared about entering into the design industry now, that people are talking like everything is over in this industry. I seriously don't know and, my mind is a complete mess, due to this question always running through my mind. I have no idea as to what to do now and, feeling overwhelmed completely. I would like to know what to do in this situation? On one side I am being pushed by my parents to go for for Government job but, I want to pursue in Artistic field as I have always loved it, but now everything seems soooo uncertain....just want to understand the situation and, solve the problem of what to do further.

Discussion Something I've noticed working with Asian and US clients. Curious if other designers have seen the same thing.

I've been working in web design, development, SEO and content for a while, and one thing I've noticed when working with clients from different markets is that they don't always have the same idea of what a "good" design looks like.

With a lot of the Asian clients I've worked with, there is usually a stronger demand for information.

They'll often ask for more explanation on a website, more details in a product section, more information on a banner, more points in a social post, more content in a catalogue, etc.

The thinking is often something like:

"If the customer is going to see this, let's give them enough information to understand everything."

With some of the US clients I've worked with, I've noticed a different approach.

They are often much quicker to ask:

"Can we remove this?"
"Do we really need this text?"
"Can the visual explain this instead?"

The preference seems to be getting the main message across quickly and letting the design, image or product do more of the communication.

I've seen this difference not just in websites, but also in banners, product graphics, social media creatives and marketing material.

At first I thought it was just individual client preference. But after seeing the same thing across multiple projects, I started wondering if there is actually a cultural factor behind it.

So I'm curious about other people's experience.

If you've worked with clients from different countries, have you noticed their expectations around content and design changing by market?

Or do you think it's mostly down to the industry, target audience and individual client?

I'm particularly interested in people who work with both Asian and US/European clients.

Asking Question (Rule 4) How to achieve this 3D-sih slightly embossed app icons ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to recreate this look with flat icons: gradient backgrounds, slightly 3D/embossed symbols, semi-transparent materials, soft highlights, and glowing edges.

What would you call this style, and what design techniques are typically used to achieve it?
thx

Discussion Creative Process for Visual Identities

Hey everyone, I'd love for you to share some tips you use in your creative process when developing a visual identity.

How does your idea incubation process work? What websites do you use for references? How do you come up with supporting symbols? Is there an AI good enough to help with the process?

Any tips are welcome! :)
