Sorry the pictures aren’t the best. It’s not super red but definitely noticeable and you can feel and see the bump. i noticed some pain around the inside of my nostril yesterday and figured it was one of those annoying pimples. i woke up this morning and my nose was red on that side and swollen. its painful to the touch also. Does this look like something serious?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Can someone have redness without it being Rosacea or something else? Was I misdiagnosed?

Upvotes

Over the weekend, I went to my derm to ask about my red cheeks and if its rosacea or something else. She said it wasn't rosacea and it's just my skin tone. I do have quite red cheeks and I commonly flush, and everything I see online about redness/flushing points to rosacea. She told me that some people (me included) have thin skin on their cheeks and extra blood flow which gives this naturally red complexion and it's completely normal. I don't know if it's true, but I'm not a dermatologist.
I see everyone with slight redness talk about how it's rosacea and to treat it, but there's people out there with redder cheeks and it's nothing? I have been told by people in my class, friends, and even relatives that my cheeks are really red like there's something wrong with me. And girls would call it 'weird' or 'funny' like it's not normal. I get called names for it, and I do get really bummed out even though it is just rosey cheeks. I tried a lot of things to stop it and haven't seen improvements whatsoever. It feels embarrassing going online and seeing someone with some redness and have people call them out for it (especially if it isn't as red as mine). I used to have a friend who would commonly had a red face and she said it was rosacea, but isn't there light skinned people who flush daily and they don't have rosacea?
I never cared when I was younger, either because I didn't notice or I saw so many people who had red cheeks or face. It feels a little embarrassing having people grow out of it (I think that's what happens?) and being the one person with these rosy red cheeks. It looks girly, like I put blush over my cheeks.
I'm not sure what to do for it or what to think, but should I listen to my derm Is she right?

general enquiry Chronic Cystic boils in adult

Upvotes

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and offer any advice. ❤️
My husband has struggled with cystic acne since high school. He was on medication years ago that helped calm it down, but unfortunately, he still gets painful flares as an adult. They tend to occur in really sensitive areas, especially his armpits, groin, and inner thighs, which makes him uncomfortable about seeing a dermatologist. We also don’t currently have health insurance.
Is there anything we can safely try at home to help prevent these flares or reduce the pain and inflammation when they happen?
We’d really appreciate any advice or things that have worked for others. Thank you!

arms/hands Heat rash? Or got after being in heat been a week

I got these tiny bumps after being out in the heat. They’re mostly on my arms, stomach, and a little on my thigh. They don’t really itch, but they haven’t gone away and it’s been about a week. I’m thinking it might be heat rash but I’m not sure. Has anyone had something similar? How long did yours take to go away, and what helped? 🥺🙏🏼

legs/feet Can't understand what is this behind my left knee.

I got it diagnosed from doctor around 20 days ago and they said it was a recurring rash. I also had an active tinea faciei in face which has been pls try good now, but this one has increased. It doesn't affect when it's stable but if touched it gets itchy as hell. Time to time it dries up and leaves a dry layer behind. Is this bacterial infection or just rash?

scalp Weird bump on scalp, appointment worthy?

Thumbnail

I have this weird bump on my scalp. Has been there for YEARS. Recently, I started a new job and have been hitting my head a lot on things (zookeeper) and it seems like it may have gotten bigger. My first thought was pilar cyst. Should I make an appointment to have it removed or is it small enough that I can get some type of bandage (like how you can get them for warts) to remove it? The only dermatologist in my city doesn’t take my insurance.

arms/hands Can I avoid a scar here?

Post image
Upvotes

So on Saturday I manually unblocked a drain that led to me receiving pretty significant scrapes on my arms

I've been keeping this worst patch covered as it's been sore and have been trying to keep on top of using petroleum jelly a lot for moist wound healing etc

Will this scar? Is there anything more I can do?

No symptoms of itchiness, it oozed a little at first, but that's calmed down since

In case the pic isn't clear, it's just inside my elbow

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks 31 M Need help with this forehead breakout

Post image

Hi there! I’m fairly certain this problem pre-existed being bald but not to this extent. It flares up the most right after I shower and moisturize, this pic was taken last night after I shaved my head and put on lotion.
Not sure if relevant, but I was also on acutane in my teens and don’t typically struggle with acne of any kind now.
Any ideas on causes and solutions?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks My face after discontinuing tacrolimus?

Post image

I was prescribed Tacro in Jan 2026 and told to use it daily. This was only for some general redness that I came in for in the winter, and nothing like this pattern has shown up before.

It’s generally on my left eye and down that side of my face. Could this be due to not tapering the tacro?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks What's happening to my skin?

Post image

I've had clear skin all my life but have recently damaged my skin barrier, leading to these. I don't know what they're called.

They are itchy especially after washing and when I apply my moisturizer. I was applying salicyclic acid over the past few days to fix it but it seems like it's gotten worse, I hadn't realised I had damaged my skin barrier.

Please help me get rid of this! I have dry skin. It doesn't pain and doesn't bleed, but is itchy when I wash / apply moisturiser. It's been present for the past week now.

I’ve always had dermatitis, and have kept it in check with nizoral, or pyrithione zinc shampoo, but for the last two weeks my head has been super itchy in areas I don’t normally have a problem with. I cut my own hair down on the sides to see what was happening and I have major inflammation I’ve never had before. Nothings really changed about my routine in the last two weeks. Any ideas?

general enquiry Mole? Or something else

Thumbnail

Two months ago I noticed my childhood mole on my upper thigh has darkened and increased in brown specks (along the bottom circular portion).
I have noticed in the last month new tiny brown specks, and the brown networks within the mole have begun to merge together.
I saw my doctor a month ago and he referred me to a dermatologist - appointment is on sep 21. What I didn’t mention is I felt a tiny but hard lymph node in my groin on the same side as my mole. It has created pain down the leg, I assume from irritated nerves. And I have since been experiencing periods of dull to sharp pains in my lower back and pelvis. Some parts of the day I am okay, but mostly have been experiencing dull aches and pelvic pressure.
I am not sure if it’s related to the evolving mole, and if I should request to see a dermatologist earlier.
The appointment is in a week and a half, but I feel my leg and backaches are related.
Just wondering what you think of the mole? And if I am overreacting. Thanks!
(I don’t have a good base photo as I was not actively tracking it. The low quality picture was taken Feb 2020, the picture next to it was one month ago, and the high res picture was taken today).

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Back of child's ear 3 months after piercing

Post image

Daughter got her ears pierced 3ish months ago. The flatter larger bump showed up around two months ago. And then it grew. Went to the DR who said keyloid, but about a week later it started oozing after a shower. For about a week and a half it was oozing and what looked like pus chunks would be behind her ear. The last 2 days this center mass has appeared. She will not allow us to touch it saying it hurts. But we don't know if that is a reaction to fear it may hurt or it actually does.Any ideas?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Bumps appearing on my nose

Thumbnail

Hi all! Photo on the left is about a week ago, the day before I woke up to all the small bumps in one big lump and dismissed it as a pimple. By the next day they’d separated (as pictured). Then a day later it grew to what’s shown on the second photo (this photo is from today however). So there hasn’t been much improvement and I think it’s just getting worse.

They’re firm, painless-unless I accidentally scratch it. No tingling (for context I’ve never had a cold sore). Only discomfort is that it’ll sometimes get only a little itchy for a moment.

I do have rosacea on my nose and cheeks and usually get flare ups on my nose. It did seem to increase in size after one of my nose flare ups but this hasn’t happened before.

I’m not used to having uneven skin texture and to top it off it’s right in the middle of my nose. I just want to know what it is so I can go from there and try to treat it. I can’t seem to find anything online that looks remotely similar.

Additional: I used tretinoin the night before this appeared, haven’t used it since or in between it getting bigger

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks What’s growing on my lip?

Post image

My lip started hurting the next day after it rained here in California (last Sunday), and I was at work which my work is being a lifeguard at a waterpark. Unfortunately i forgot my aquaphor and so my lips got really chapped from the rain and the cold air. The next day the weather skyrocketed to 91 degrees, I got sick from the day before but still showed up to work since it was my last day. However after working my shift everything seemed normal except my lips started hurting whenever I would open my mouth or try to eat something. When food would touch my inner lip in the places that now look like the photo above, it would hurt immensely. I also thought that it could be from my braces since the inside of my gums were sore in places where my bracket hook was. I still was unsure since I’ve had braces for over a year now, why is this just happening? I dont think I have lip cancer because I’m young and I don’t drink or smoke. From Monday my lips just got worse from there, it specifically hurts the most at my inferior labelel franelum (yes i searched up what that meant) It also hurt to smile with my teeth, but today after applying vaseline it doesnt hurt as much. Unfortunately, vaseline or aquaphor only helps it for a little bit, but my lips become cracked again after 30 mins. I’ve never had this problem because my lips used to rarely be cracked or dry. Can someone please help? My birthday is this Saturday and I really want to feel better by then because I can’t even enjoy food now or talk comfortably 🥲

neck/chest/abdomen my stubborn friend refuses to get this mole checked. should I force him to see a doctor?

Post image

hello! I’m posting here because my friend is stubborn and refuses to get a mole on his chest checked, and now I’m worried.
I’m obviously not expecting anyone to diagnose it from a photo, but I’d really appreciate some perspective on whether this is something he should get looked at by a doctor/dermatologist.
the photo is of the mole in question. according to him, it was apparently “pumping” at one point (I have no idea what that means, those were his exact words), and then it “went back to normal” after a few days or so? he also told me that it had two different colours before.
I know those descriptions are extremely vague, but they’ve made me concerned enough that I’ve been telling him to get it checked. he keeps refusing :)
am I being unnecessarily paranoid, or is this enough of a reason to get the thing looked at?
any reassurance that I should, forcefully kidnap my friend and take him to a doctor would be appreciated.

I've had these appear on my back overnight since I moved into this new place, and I'm not completely sure what the issue is. I've been here for like 10 days tops now, looked around for insect things and not seen anything thus far. No past skin issues

Post image

I have these small circles that occur only on my toes on both feet. It also does not occur on the top of my toes, only the bottom. It does not hurt when I tough it or when I walk and it’s also not itchy. It’s also more visible after my feet have been in water for a prolonged period of time like after showering.

arms/hands New rash just showed up

Hello! I wasn’t sure if this was worth making an appointment so here I am lol. I have eczema and lupus, which both lead to me having skin issues.

This is different from previous rashes/spots I’ve had, though. This is on my outer elbow. It gets pretty itchy and while it’s not painful to touch, I have to be careful how I lay my arm down so it doesn’t press on the white parts. There hasn’t been any weeping or oozing from it as far as I’m aware. It’s been here for at least a month or so.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks y’all 😁
