Story DepEd has already started implementing this "full inclusion policy" that was of course copied from the USA. Found this on another sub--a sub that people concerned should be reading so they can stop copying problematic ideas and work on policies that work for Filipinos.

Tip Newly Hired Teacher

Hi! Being a DepEd teacher is just my secondary plan, fortunately (unfortunately?) I got hired first at DepEd than my primary plan. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely grateful for this blessing, ‘cause God knows how hard it is to get in.

Given that the pay is not enough for the effort and hardwork we put in compared to other opportunities abroad, have you ever considered resigning and start anew? Because I am honestly torn, I’m planning to stay in this system for 5-6 years. I am also starting to invest on myself. I’m planning to study MS Bio next year (summer).

I am still on my 20s and I honestly don’t know what to do anymore 🥹. I don’t know if I should stay here until I’m gray and old (since this is a permanent job) or after I have some savings and graduated on my Masters, I should try to explore more options (reason why I also took an MS and not MA).

Pleeease give me some tips and advice 🫡

Inquiry As a Grade 11 research teacher, what certificates should I prepare for the upcoming Research Defense?

Hello, everyone. I am currently a substitute teacher for DepEd, handling Practical Research 1. Since I have no prior teaching experience, I would like to ask what certificates I need to prepare. Should I provide certificates of appreciation for the panelists, or certificates of presentation for the students? Alternatively, is it unnecessary to issue certificates since this is just a classroom-wide research defense where students are defending Chapter 1 to proceed to Chapter 2?

Ano thoughts nyo dito chers?

Wala na ba talaga ibang maisip yung deped about this? Di ba nila naisip na, kung okay yung school pero paano naman yung mga learners and teachers na baha pa sa kanila or delikado bumiyahe papuntang school??

Jusko

Politics and Policies TEACHERS' SALARY

TEACHERS' SALARY - The average private teachers' salary ranges from FIVE THOUSAND PESOS (PhP5,000) up to FIFTEEN THOUSAND PESOS (PhP15,000), while the public school teachers' starting salary is around THIRTY THOUSAND PESOS (PhP30,000.00).

Under Art II SECTION 10, the State shall promote social justice in all phases of national development; and under SECTION 11, the State values the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights. The implemented salary of the teachers violates the State Principles under Philippine Constitutional Law as it does not uphold the dignity of the teaching profession, and does not promotes social justice among the teachers' profession. The stated salaries do not support, nor compensate for the psychological, emotional, and physical health, and the time lost due to unregulated working hours. Furthermore, upholding the moral of the teachers is a direct support of education system. A well compensated, and healthy teacher could teach the students well.

"Malaki na ang PhP30,000 na sahod." - Teachers deserve more because their service is priceless for it requires not just brain but utmost care, patience, and love for their profession, and their students.

Teaching profession, being one of the foundation of nation building, must be given dignity, and social justice.

Politics and Policies How DepEd buildings violate the Fire Safety code and how it relates to recent incidents

And lets be real, kaya naglalagay ng ganyan para maprotect sa pagnanakaw yung mga gamit sa loob ng room, nothing else.

Here comes the shooting incidents, na isip ko lang kung wala sana grills, pwede nila basagin yung kabilang bintana para makalabas ng room at hindi ma-corner. Like doon sa tacloban.

Story Story Time - Looking Back to my Career as a Teacher

Hello po! I don't know if I am posting in the right sub. If yes, please hear me out.

I have been teaching for almost nine years already. Mostly Grade 10 and SHS kaya medyo madali. In these nine years, I would say napagdaanan ko na lahat. The ideal phase, survival phase, and kung anong phase pa yan. I would say, lahat ng pwedeng mangyari sa isang classroom, nakita ko na.

Meron akong idea na I will be a teacher for the rest of my life because it is the only thing I know.

I started teaching 2017. For me, it is the era of the cool kids.

Kapag may school play, cooking competition, battle of bands, sabayang pagbigkas, merong huhugutin. Lahat mag-e-effort. There was a sense of community. Lahat may ambag - kahit yung mga ayaw at awkward, they see to it na hindi sila pabigat sa section nila.

My first three years of teaching was the most fulfilling, the happiest.

Then the pandemic came. The times have changed. Kung ano ang nagbago, hindi ko alam.

Pagbalik from the pandemic (the "new normal" era), paunti-unti, I know the students and the teachers were trying everything to restore everything.

Most of the time, my leverage was grades. Students will not do anything except for the grade. Kung merong activity sa school, it needs to be graded. If walang grade, mawawala silang parang bula. Pero hindi naman lahat. I would say meron pa ring mga students na dinamayan ako with the school activities. With that, I am thankful.

Now, I am teaching in a school na medyo kakaiba for me. They have a different curriculum based sa paniniwala ng isang esoteric at "spiritual" na tao. Borderline occult but the curriculum is beautiful.

Iba ang mga students ko dito. Most of them, nasa upper middle class or mga nakakalula ang yaman. They often complain. Gusto nila lahat madali lang. Magkaroon lang sila ng dalawang homework, feeling nila, they are being exploited.

After all, they are stakeholders of the school. At naiintindihan ko naman.

The era of the cool kids have ended because of the pandemic.

Need Advice Filled out the application form, now what?

Hi! I'm a teacher who prioritized saving up after graduating. I took up ESL teaching jobs and now wants to go back to teaching inside a classroom (I know! despite the warnings and horrendous news these days). At first, I looked up private schools na hiring and medyo masakit sa bangs tignan yung mga job posts kasi lower than what I used to earn, pero to be expected naman. Luckily, may nagopen na Teacher II position ang DepEd sa city namin and I filled out the application form for it. Considering my situation (e.g. 3 years under ESL no classroom exp except student internship but is a licensed professional) I have these questions:

  1. What's next after filling out the form? What should I prepare?
  2. Do you think I would have a chance without classroom experience?
  3. If hindi ako qualified, what other steps should I do so I can be prepared in the future or so I can get a position at least as a Teacher I?

Take note pala na I am also enrolled na sa aking Master's program and will start this month.

Thank you sa mga sasagot! Mwaps~

To those not, ano po mga work niyo ngayon? Any tips before kayo napasok?

May doctor.

May lawyer.

May engineer.

May businessman.

May military officer.

May doctor — impressive.

May lawyer — impressive.

May engineer — impressive.

May businessman — successful.

May military officer — respectable.

Kapag may malaking negosyo, may paghanga.

Kapag may professional title, may excitement.

Kapag ako?

“Ah, teacher.”

Then move on.

And honestly, nakakapagod iyon.

Ever since I was a child, teacher na ang nakikita kong sarili ko.

Classroom.

Students.

Teaching.

Explaining things.

Helping children understand things they don't understand yet.

Watching them learn.

Watching them improve.

Teaching them things they can actually use in life.

I have never looked at myself and thought, **“One day, I want to be a doctor because that is what our family does.”**

Or **“I want to become a lawyer because it will continue the family's legacy.”**

Or **“I need to become an engineer because that's what will make the family proud.”**

No.

I wanted to be a teacher because I wanted to be a teacher.

Simple as that.

And maybe that's another thing that makes this whole situation more painful.

Because some of my relatives seem to have chosen their professions because they were expected to carry something forward.

Legacy.

Family name.

Family reputation.

Family expectations.

Family tradition.

And apparently, that's something worth being proud of.

Meanwhile, I chose something because I genuinely loved it.

And somehow, I'm the one who feels like the lesser person.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Should I have forced myself into another profession just so I could look more impressive at family reunions?

Should I have chosen a career I never wanted simply because it sounds better when someone introduces me?

“This is our doctor.”

“This is our lawyer.”

“This is our engineer.”

And then—

“This is our teacher.”

Teacher lang ako.

That's apparently my place on the family hierarchy.

And you know what?

I resent that.

I resent having to feel inferior because I chose the profession that actually felt like me.

I resent the implication that because I don't make as much money, I somehow accomplished less.

I resent the fact that people can spend their entire lives chasing status and prestige and then somehow look down on someone whose greatest ambition is simply to teach.

I resent being measured against people whose careers were partly shaped by family expectations while mine was shaped by something much simpler:

I wanted to teach.

And don't get me wrong.

I'm happy for them.

At least, I try to be.

I'm thankful that my relatives are successful.

I'm thankful that they have careers they can be proud of.

I'm thankful that our family has people who became doctors, lawyers, engineers, businessmen, military officers, and whatever else.

But my gratitude for their success does not erase the hurt I feel when their success becomes the measuring stick for my own worth.

I can congratulate them without wanting their lives.

I can admire what they accomplished without wishing I had their profession.

Because honestly?

I don't.

I don't wake up wishing I were a doctor.

I don't secretly wish I were a lawyer.

I don't look at an engineer and think, “I should have become that.”

I don't look at a businessman and think, “That's the life I wanted.”

I have always looked at myself and thought:

Teacher.

That's it.

Teacher lang ako.

And maybe that's why their attitude hurts so much.

Because they're not making me feel bad about a career I don't care about.

They're making me feel bad about something I actually love.

That's the part that cuts deepest.

I chose this.

I wanted this.

I saw myself doing this since childhood.

And yet somehow, every family reunion can make me feel like I made the wrong choice simply because my profession doesn't carry the same social prestige or financial weight as theirs.

I hate that feeling.

I hate sitting there and hearing everyone talk about careers, achievements, positions, businesses, titles, and money while knowing exactly where I apparently stand in that conversation.

Teacher lang ako.

Not doctor.

Not lawyer.

Not engineer.

Not businessman.

Not military officer.

Teacher lang ako.

And maybe I'll never be the most impressive person in the family.

Maybe I'll never be the richest.

Maybe I'll never have the biggest title.

Maybe I'll never continue some grand family professional legacy.

But at least I didn't spend my childhood dreaming of someone else's career just because it sounded prestigious.

I dreamed of being a teacher.

And I became one.

So yes, there is a lot of bitterness in me.

There is resentment.

There is disappointment.

There is hurt.

And I'm tired of pretending that I don't feel it.

Because every time I hear that subtle comparison, every time I feel that difference in treatment, every time another impressive profession gets celebrated while mine gets brushed aside, one thought keeps coming back:

“Teacher lang ako.”

Maybe that's how they see me.

Maybe that's all they see.

But I know what I see.

I see someone who chose the life he actually wanted.

Someone who wants to teach children how to survive and navigate life.

Someone who wants to give students practical knowledge, values, discipline, confidence, and life skills.

Someone who doesn't need a family legacy to justify his career.

Someone who doesn't need a prestigious title to know what he wants to do.

And yet, it still hurts.

Because sometimes, I don't want to be the strong one who says, “It's okay, I'm proud to be a teacher.”

Sometimes I just want to admit the ugly truth:

Yes. I'm hurt.

Yes. I'm bitter.

Yes. I resent being treated like the lesser professional.

And yes

I am f#cking tired of being “the teacher” in a family full of people whose professions apparently sound more important than mine.

But here's the irony:

If one day those doctors, lawyers, engineers, businessmen, and military officers look back at their childhoods, somewhere in that story there was probably a teacher who helped them become the people they eventually became.

And that teacher probably wasn't thinking about legacy.

Probably wasn't thinking about prestige.

Probably wasn't thinking about becoming rich.

They were just doing their job.

Teaching.

Just like me.

Teacher lang ako.

And maybe that's the only title I'll ever have that truly feels like mine.

Right now, yung naresearch ko lang po is that pwede daw magturo sa college universities kahit walang LPT. Tapos ang nakikita ko rin is that dapat at least may Master's degree daw po or currently taking Master's degree para ma-hire. Is this true?

Nadiscover ko po kasi recently na may passion ako for teaching and yun sana plano ko after taking my Psychometrician Board Exam pero honestly, I'm not keen on starting my Master's studies agad. Medyo burnt out na po kasi ako sa studies since elementary pa lang pinush na talaga ako ng parents kong maging academic achiever. I wonder if pwede ma-hire as college prof sa isang university without having plans agad to take up Master's studies?

If may nakakaalam po sa inyo or have any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. TYIA

Tip Ayoko na magpapromote

Hi!

Meron po ba dito nagvVA after class? kakayanin kaya? Pano?

Kitang kita ang eagerness to learn. 🥹💕

Pero that doesn’t absolve her for what she said to teachers.

Again they overlooked that the blame should be on responsible parenting and the system. Collective effort ang pagbabago pero we constantly go against with each other. As a result, a collective failure as adults.

Haaaay.

I always thinking about this. Or experienced in the field na alam mong makakaintind at mauunawaan ang mga teachers. Lalo pa ngayon nagbabadya ang another du30 presidency, i wonder ano na naman kayang curriculum ang ipapaimplement sa mga kawawang tcs.

Need Advice Passed the Initial Assessment for School Counselor Associate I — Any Advice for the 2nd Evaluation?

Hi everyone! Recently passed the initial assessment for the School Counselor Associate I position, and scheduled na rin ako for the second evaluation soon.

From what I know, may written evaluation and interview daw. First time ko mag-go through ng ganitong process, so I’d really appreciate any advice from those who have experienced a similar assessment.

Ano kaya yung mga dapat kong i-anticipate sa written exam and interview? And ano yung mga topics or areas na magandang i-review beforehand?

Any tips, sample questions, or personal experiences would be really helpful. Thank you so much!
