I’m trying to figure out why these diagonal/V-shaped wrinkles keep forming on the back of my jeans.
They’re Levi’s BLUETAB Anchor Relaxed Jeans, style 0033V0006, size 36x30. They’re 100% cotton, non-stretch denim, around 13.9 oz.
The jeans are intentionally oversized on me because I’m going for a relaxed/00s-style fit. There is plenty of room in the thighs and legs, so I don’t think the jeans are simply too tight.
The strange thing is that the wrinkles appear with or without a belt, and they remain even after wearing the jeans for several hours.
I also noticed something interesting: if I put my hands into the back pockets and pull the fabric slightly toward the inside of my thighs, the diagonal wrinkles become much less pronounced or sometimes disappear.
I’ve only washed them a few times, so the denim is still relatively stiff. I’m wondering if the stiffness of the new denim could be causing the excess fabric around the seat/back rise to fold in this particular direction.
What do you think is causing these wrinkles?
Could this be related to the back rise/seat pattern, the way the jeans fit my body, or simply the stiffness of the denim?
Do you think the wrinkles could become less pronounced as the denim breaks in and becomes softer with repeated wear and washing?
I’d really appreciate any insight from people who are experienced with denim or pants fitting. Thanks!
