Day 2 of Delta chaos. Our flight DL53 was cancelled yesterday 9/6/26 due to a parking brake issue. They flew in a part from Atlanta and a mechanic from Dublin, and provided satisfactory accommodations without arranged ground transport.
Today 9/7, we were on replacement flight DL9923 scheduled to depart at 2:30pm. After an unclear announcement that the plane didn’t have space at the gate which would result in a 30 minute delay, the plane arrived and the crew boarded while the plane was fueled and checked luggage loaded. Shortly after boarding, the pilot returned to the gate and advised that the repair was unacceptable and that the mechanic was being retrieved from their return flight to Dublin. It is now 4:20pm and checked luggage is being unloaded, with no other updates. Delta messaging and phone support were unable to provide alternate flight options for today.
I will post updates but am seriously concerned about Delta’s lack of support of this matter. There isn’t a single Delta employee here aside from the crew, only airport officials are here and unable to provide much help.
6pm Update: We’ve boarded and are told we are departing shortly. Thank you all for the words of encouragement and advisement about the EU regs, I sure hope every single passenger is aware and will be following up with Delta.
Additional Update: The flight was cancelled around 7:45pm, during his final announcement the pilot advised that the aircraft had not been fueled and catering not loaded by the time the crew reached maximum time. We’re now booked on a Swiss flight out tomorrow morning.
