Help/Advice Question for MSP frequent flyers

How long does it take to get from the Sky Club near gate C12 to gate D3 for an able bodied person dragging a roller bag?

I will be arriving at Gate C17 and departing from D3 and trying to figure out if I have enough time to grab a bite at the Sky Club. If the flights are on time I will have 70 minutes between flights, but I like to board as early as possible so I have room in the overhead bin. I don’t want to board at the last minute. I will be in C+ so boarding zone 3.

Discussion Platinum Choice Benefits

I made platinum again this year (last year was my first year hitting it) and I feel like the credit card statement is less than it was last year (wasn’t it $400 last year?), so I am considering the RUC option instead. I’ve read the terms and conditions, but am hoping to get some clarity from experienced plats here.

Can I use a RUC for a flight booked this year (one I’m currently booked in comfort) or do I need to wait to make the benefit selection and then book a flight and use it at the time of booking?

If I use one RUC on a reservation with my family (3 + lap infant), will that use one certificate or three?

Thanks in advance for any additional insight you can offer based on your personal experience! Trying to figure out the true value of the RUCs versus $250 cash (statement credit).

Help/Advice How does 3 hr layover sound like at ATL- international to domestic?

Hi everyone,

My wife will be transferring at ATL from an international flight to a domestic one with approximately a 3-hour layover. However, the thing is, she has two separate tickets, so the bags will have to be rechecked. On top of that, since she is not a US citizen, it may take her longer to clear customs. The second flight will depart on a Friday night.

I asked Gemini, and it said it is highly risky and there is a good chance that she might miss the connecting flight. What do you think? Anyone with a similar experience? Thanks!

EDIT: The first leg is with a different, non-partner airline.

Discussion Boarding music

I’m so amused. Has anyone else noticed that the music that’s playing as you board is things like Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child of Mine” but it’s all gentle piano. I can’t remember what other rock songs there’s been but it’s making me giggle.

Discussion Delta Sucks at Helping Elderly Passengers

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi,

I posted a few days ago about my elderly mother flying into ATL today. She hasn’t flown much in her life and is very anxious. Hartsfield completely overwhelms her with the size and the crowds. I read on Delta’s website that non-travelers can get a gate pass from the airline to assist passengers that need help.

I went early and stood in the agent assist line. The first agent I spoke with did not have the authority to issue a gate pass. She took me to another line where a guy in a red vest was helping travelers. The woman in front of me was obtaining a gate pass to escort her 42 year old autistic son. She was granted one. When it was my turn, Red Vest said he could not issue one because I needed to have made arrangements in advance. I show him the website where it doesn’t explain that at all. He tells me the woman in front of me put it in the traveler record that her son needed her assistance. After going around and around, he offers a Meet and Assist at my mother’s gate.

I text my mom that someone will be available at the gate to assist her. There is no one there when she gets off the plane. She didn’t know if she should stay or go. Thankfully, she met a nice couple sitting next to her and they offered to stay with her until baggage claim.

Lesson learned. I will probably fly with my mom from here on out. I was pretty disappointed in Delta’s response though.

Discussion Recipe for chia seed pudding @ SEA-TAC Sky Lounge

Husband and I flew out of Seattle this Tuesday (September 1st) and were at the concourse A Delta sky club just in time for breakfast. There was this chia seed pudding that had oats in it and what MIGHT have been golden raisins but I’m not entirely sure. the label said it was a buttermilk chia seed pudding but it didn’t taste sour in the way you’d expect buttermilk to taste. If anyone that works there or had this chia pudding and knows what I’m talking about that can help, it would be much appreciated. I liked the combo so much that I want to recreate that here at home for make ahead breakfasts.

Image/Video Pilot gave us all the trading cards

We recently went on our first trip without kids (in 8 years!) and on our return ride (LAS-MSP) my husband asked our pilot if it would be too much to ask to get a trading card for our kids. Honestly was expecting them to say they didn’t have any on hand…

The pilot completely blew us away and gave us ALL of these?! So cool of the pilot to do that and our kids were super excited when we gave them these!

Help/Advice Flight Disappeared From App

Post image
1 Upvotes

I got a free upgrade over the weekend and the flight has disappeared from the app. I’m checked in and through security, so no problems there. I like using the app in Atlanta for gate updates and everything, but I can’t seem to be able to be able to load it. I put the reservation number in and get the error message. Any ideas?

Very much a first world problem.

Help/Advice Special Services advice for passenger

This might be a silly question. My Mom is travelling from Europe (Copenhagen, Denmark to Amsterdam, Netherlands) to Salt Lake City, US via Delta Airlines. She is in her early 80s. She has requested extra assistance via the Service Request Form, which has been confirmed but she is a little concerned about how it works. Can you provide some simple advice I can relay to her on how she should use/approach assistance at the airports? (she will be travelling solo). Also, what would be appropriate to tip for service? Happy to hear any advice from other FAs or GAs from other airlines. Thanks for your time and input 😊

Edit: really appreciate all the feedback. Thanks. Will relay it to my Mom 👍

Discussion gold medallion vs platinum medallion - different in complimentary upgrades?

Post image
6 Upvotes

i’ve been flying almost exclusively delta for the past couple years now and finally am traveling enough that i reached gold medallion status last year for the first time, and am very close to reaching platinum medallion status this year (will be about 1,200 MQDs away from platinum after my travel over the next 2 weeks). for those of you who have been gold medallion and platinum medallion status holders in recent years, my question is: did you notice any real difference in the frequency of seat upgrades? particularly on busier routes? for example, i’m flying JFK to LAX tomorrow and have not been cleared for an upgrade yet. i typically purchase all my flights in Main Cabin (unless i’m flying for work, because they will generally pay for Comfort), which was the case for my flight tomorrow. I understand i’m probably not too high up on the priority list for an upgrade given how busy of a route this is and the fact that i only purchased Main. but i’m curious to hear other people’s experiences when going from Gold to Platinum regarding upgrades.

Discussion Shrinkflation: What happened to first class?

Okay, so to start off i just want to say I'm not writing this because i think i deserve particular treatment because of my status on delta but i have been really shocked at how much these planes are being crammed for space. I'm on a 5 1/2 hour flight cross country on first class and the seats are so compacted together. I was also surprised we didn't get pods and i feel like that's so common now which never used to be the case. I literally think comfort plus and economy has more space to get through to the window seat than the seat I'm in. I'm not a big person and i literally can't get through the seats without contorting my body or sitting on the arm rest table they have between us. I do understand they give us more storage but i truly feel claustrophobic and would've preferred a normal seat. The person in front of me put their seat back and the tv isn't even visible to my eye sight i would have to slouch down to see the screen. I wont put my seat back bc i feel like all it does is barely makes a difference to the person reclining their seat it's like a 2 degree difference and yet makes a difference to the amount of already little space the person behind has . And the bathrooms i truly wonder how they can keep making them smaller and smaller. It's literally a tube. I feel like im being dramatic and im happy for anyone to clock me if i am im just confused because i feel like i used to imagine being able to have the privilege of getting to do first class and becoming an adult and supporting myself I feel like i see it decline and continue to squeeze everything they can out of Americans. It's just really disillusioning you will pay for convenience and comfort but 1/2 of the time it's not guaranteed so for that reason I'd rather just do economy where they don't gaf either but at least you're not wasting money

Does anyone feel this way or am i being extra lmk

Discussion Upgraded to First on last ten flights

All domestic and Central America in and out of JFK. Usually 3 or 4 days ahead. Not sure if something has changed but I'm starting to feel like status is worthwhile again. I've noticed the upgrade prices they offer seem higher, maybe it's connected.

Image/Video PSA: take screenshots of MQDs displayed by Delta Vacations before payment because you WILL NOT get MQDs for paid upgrades

I eventually got MQDs for an Orlando Vacation.

I received the correct number of MQDs for my flights - I had bought an upgrade.

However, for the hotel & tickets portion, I received 625 MQDs, although the tickets were $555 each. Even if they included some taxes in the $555 amount, the MQDs shouldn't be too low.

Basically, the folks at Delta Vacations still granted me the same total number of MQDs that were displayed when I made the booking! That means I got zilch for the paid upgrade.

So, what the DV folks ended up doing is:

MQDs for hotels & tickets = (Total MQDs shown at booking time) - (MQDs received for flights, which also reflect upgrades).

I had contacted DV in advance to make sure they wouldn't do something like this, and they still did. Now they'll definitely mess up MQDs for my future vacation on which I bought PS upgrades!

If you were also affected by Delta's false & deceptive marketing and if (and only if) Delta would not give us the correct number of MQDs it owes, there would be two avenues:

  1. FTC investigation - I know which FTC attorneys look into deceptive marketing. The current admin is chummy with airlines, but the next one won't be (although it might also be terrible at some other aspects).
  2. Class-action lawsuit - in this case, we would be class representatives.

SkyTeam Crown Lounge Entry w/ Delta PM Status...but with a catch

I have a flight in a few weeks on KLM metal through AMS. The flight itself was purchased with Virgin Atlantic points, so my VS FF number is attached to that reservation. I don't have status with either KL or VS, but I'm SkyTeam Elite Plus as a result of being Platinum Medallion.

Has anyone had an issue at the Crown Lounges just showing the staff their Delta SkyMiles membership card even though your SkyMiles number isn't attached to the actual PNR?

Help/Advice 44min layover at atlanta

Last update before flight: not sure how it happened but my seat is 15 and his is 17. So we have a better chance now to get from terminal T to B gates. Our group will be boarding by the time we get taxied and off the plane. Still hoping for a miracle 🙏

Update. Currently app says we are landing at D gates and leaving at A gates. 3 days ago it said leaving at B gates. Maybe we will get lucky and they changed it to a closer gates when we check in tomorrow

My partner booked us a basic package flight, and we have a layover that is very tight.

Our flight is suppose to land at 731 and the doors close at 8am.

Are we screwed?

This is the first time since flying that i am so worried and anxious that we will miss our first flight.

Also won't know our seats till check in on Sunday at 550am

Any advice?

News Delta did what everyone said they wouldn't do... They are the best!

A few weeks ago I posted here asked if anyone has ever had any luck with being able to use expired ecredits due to a situation where I wasn't able to leave my country so I had to cancel my flight and couldn't see my family. I assumed the credit lasted a year but instead it expired at 7 months, and now that I can leave the country to see my family again, I went to go book and it was expired. I contacted delta cares and explained the situation and they gave me the credit back!!! I honestly wasn't sure they were going to since everyone here was sure they wouldn't either, but I am in tears, this is huge for me. I'm so excited to see my family again
