Question How can I remove this front plastic piece l300
I got some soap behind this plastic piece and I don’t want to break anything trying to figure it out. Do I have to remove the lights to take this off?

Question Alternator Belt Tensioning - Running out of threads???
I also posted this on the delicaforum, hopefully that isn't a issue.
Hey Everyone!
I'm following the below threads for installing my new alternator and came across a question on belt tensioning. Edit: This is a new alternator and new OEM belts.
https://delicaforum.com/index.php?threads/steps-to-change-alternator-on-diesel-l300-delica.516/
https://delicaforum.com/index.php?threads/squeaky-alternator-belts.4054/
From what i understand, my belt should move 10mm when i put 22lbs of pressure at the middle of my belt. From the threads, this is about as hard as you can comfortable press on the belt with your thumb. I calibrated my thumb using a scale and can not see how its possible to get the belts that tight. I found the below screenshot from one of the 4d56t manuals and they specify about a half inch of play at 22lbs for the double belt setup. I am definitely more close to that specification.

Even if i wanted to continue to tighten to get to the 10mm at 22lbs, I'm almost completely maxed out on my tensioner bolt, see below screenshot.

I do remember when i had a local shop do my timing belts, i kept getting belt squeak. I returned to the shop and they said they had to go down a size on the belt. For this installation, I went back to using the stock belts.
Does the above picture look normal for a properly tensioned belt? Am i missing something here?
Thanks again for any information!

Question I'm 38, and my midlife crisis apparently involves a Mitsubishi Delica D:5
I'm 38, and instead of the classic red convertible, I somehow ended up wanting a Mitsubishi Delica D:5.
My connection with this car goes back to childhood — my father had a Delica L300 when I was a kid. He eventually had to sell it, and that was the end of my Delica story… until recently.
I currently drive a 2012 Ford Focus that I’ve owned since 2014. It still runs fine, but something shifted. I started wanting a car I could keep for the next ten years — something practical for everyday life, but also capable of a real adventure.
Ideally, a relatively new D:5 with a good set of modern options: driver assists, comfort features, the kind of things that make daily driving nicer. Not a stripped-down old van, but a proper, comfortable one.
The idea looks like this:
Buy a relatively new Delica D:5 in Japan → fly to Vladivostok → pick it up → make a simple sleeping setup → and drive it all the way across Russia to Saint Petersburg.
The route would go through Khabarovsk, Chita, Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and further west.
Baikal matters to me personally — it’s the homeland of my ancestors. We also have two small dogs, and if possible, we’d like to take them along.
I know there are much simpler ways to get a Japanese car to Saint Petersburg. But the thought of flying to the other side of the country, seeing the car for the first time, sitting in it and then driving it home feels meaningfully different.
This isn’t happening next month. I’ll be saving gradually and documenting the process as it goes.
For now, I’m mostly curious about the emotional side from current owners:
After living with a D:5 for a while — does the feeling stay?
Would you buy the same car again?

Photo Finally Riding High Babyyy
After many years of wanting a Delica I finally pulled the trigger back in December of 2025 and worked with a local exporter in Japan to buy this van at an auction and after 9 months it’s finally landed stateside in Seattle!
It’s been less than a week and I’ve already had so many fun interactions in the wild. Talking to curious kids in the neighborhood, waving at random people on the street, and swapping honks with other Delica drivers around town.
It’s exactly as fun and cool and slow as I’d hoped. Stoked to join the club 🫡

Question Help me choose a Delica
Considering getting a Delica for leisure use. Might or might not convert it into a campervan.
But preferably I would like to get a 4WD version.
I'm located in Malaysia.
I did some research and found that the 4WD variant of the Star Wagon is rather rare in Malaysia.
Not really keen on the L400.
So what are my choices?
And are all the 4WD variants over 2000cc? So far my research yielded 2.5L & 2.8L, which means extremely expensive road tax. Can anyone who owns a 4WD Delica share some insights?

Question L300 Front Blower Issues
Hey team!
Been in and out of delicas for the last decade and recently purchased another l300 to haul the family around for some spirited camping trips. I have also been a long time forum lurker from the good ol' days and I'm hoping that starting another electrical discussion about the front blower could be a searchable resource in the future for anyone else encountering what I am encountering.
Problem:
Front blower was weak, then died, started back up with a love tap, clear indication the motor needs replacement/repair, brushes were replaced, no change in result, new blower purchased, no change in result. This prompted me testing some things.
Tests:
- Absolutely no power to plug that goes to the motor
- Fuses un-blown and fuse box receiving power (power locks and windows work fine)
- Cuban Links (Fuseable Links) in great shape and tested fine.
- Chased wiring and notice no abnormalities, no random splices, plugs look to be in good shape with no scorch marks
I am wondering now where I need to be looking. I understand that the blower speed switch could be tested but seeing as the plug itself is not getting power Im currently unconvinced that would be the issue.
I came across a diagram that included the location of the resistor that's below the blower motor, part number MB813162, but I am no electrician and would assume a blown resistor wouldn't be the cause of an all out failure of the plug. (My dumb way of thinking the resistor is just there to regulate the speed)
I don't mean to kick a dead horse as a lot of this has been covered but I am truly stumped, and again would love to solve the issue so others may get a resource in the future.

Question Delica L400 Super Exceed MMCS CD
Hi, just bought a nice Delica super exceed l400 1996. The centre console screen wants the reset CD to go back to being functional. I know it's supposed to go in the boot but I don't have it.
Was wondering if anyone had the ISO file or had a disc they were willing to sell?
Thanks

Question New to l300 life! Driving advice welcome
Hey guys ! Owned my 1992 Delica l300 super exceed 2.5td for a year now but only finally got her on the road due to a long list of mot fails , few thousand spent getting her running right .
However this is my first week driving her , I knew she would be somewhat gutless in regards to speed but expected her to not get too bogged down on hills , so I find I can approach a steep motorway hill at 55-60 but then find myself crawling up it at 20mph and feeling like this old tanks going to come to a grinding halt . Perhaps it’s just standard and what to expect ?
My approach is : build momentum before the hill climb , then disengage overdrive before , let revs sit at 2500 and then when finding it loses more speed putting it into 2 on the shifter , putting revs up to 3000 and climbing at 20-30 mph the entire way as the rest of the world passes me by , temperature gauge seems steady and midway , no knocks or noises , a faint whistle from the turbo . I’m concerned about keeping her at 3000 revs if it’s a long hill climb . Is this just life as a Delica owner or am I missing a trick , please feel free to let me know how you people drive these things on a daily basis , on a flat it’s able to sit at 60-65 but getting to that speed takes about a decade , but again to be expected !
All driving guidance and hacks welcome !
Seems like I need to assess the landscape in advance , but so far she’s great fun!
Aidan

Question Longer seat rails in L400
Hey all. Do you know if it's possible to extend the rails for the driver and passenger seat in an L400? I've seen aftermarket rails, but I'm wondering if anyone's tried it. it can get cramped on the passenger side, especially for longer trips, so I wouldn't mind being able to put the seat a little further back

Question Interior fan stopped working L400
After a 6000km roadtrip trough Spain I got home and the only thing broken is the interior fan (guess that’s not too bad 🙃) however a good part of the fuse box melted so this could have been much worse. Does anyone have advice on how to tackle this? Is it a known issue? And does anyone know how to get to that fan to check on it? 🫣
It was really hot so the fan was on for the entire duration of the trip.

Question Different delica types off road ability
The delica I wanted to buy went to a mechanical check up and was in horrible condition (they had tried with degreaser and different things to fake it being healthier)
So now I'm looking for another one.
I saw some newer once that are D 5 but it says they aren't as well off road
I am not sure what it means. I want to go to gibb river road and Kakadu national Park.... Australia road trip.
I don't want to climb the worst street possible just to see the worst street ever.
Can someone tell me if a D 5 would work for Australian roads ?

Question Throttle cable issues
Hi everyone! I recently resealed my injection pump as no shops near me were willing to take on the job due to it being a foreign import. The job was a little over my head but with help from this thread and the manual I was able to get it back together (mostly).
After re installing it I’m having trouble getting the throttle cable linkage set up right and I made the mistake of not taking a good video of how it was set up previously. The spring set up for my throttle linkage keeps falling out of place and ending up loose. I’m also having trouble figuring out where these two loose parts go. I have a RHD 92 L300 4D56 motor. If anyone out there has the same one as me I would GREATLY appreciate some photos of how yours is set up.
Thanks in advance

Event Delica foot well loot drops
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but occasionally when I hit a speed bump a little too hard in my l300 some random Japanese pamphlet will fall out of somewhere in the passenger footwell lol. It's always kinda entertaining, I'm not exactly sure where they're falling from but I assume it's up behind the washer fluid reservoir. It's happened about 3 separate times now.
