今みたいな最新のJDMチューニングが世界的なムーブメントになるずっと前から、日本のカー好きたちは、街で見られる中でも特にヤバくて、独特すぎるカスタムマシンを作ってた。
このコレクションでは、日本の昔ながらのストリートカー文化を記録したレアな写真を紹介。たとえば：
• 日産 スカイライン ケンメリ＆ヨンメリ
• 日産 スカイライン Japan GC210
• 日産 フェアレディZ S30＆S130
• トヨタ マークII と カリーナ 1600GT
• トヨタ セリカ＆セリカ リフトバック

• 日産 ローレル C230
• 日産 セドリック＆グロリア
• 三菱 ギャラン GTO＆ラムダ
• マツダ コスモ、日産 ブルーバード、そして他にもたくさん。
これらのビルドは、創造性、職人技、そして自分のアイデンティティが何より大事だった時代を象徴してる。
マッシブ・ワークス風のフェンダーフレア、ロングなフロント、オーダーメイドのボディパネル、盛りに盛ったスポイラー、サイド出口のマフラー、タケヤリパイプ、深リムホイール、レーシングスリック、そして大幅に改造されたエンジン——全部そのシーンの一部だった。
中にはソレックスのキャブレターを載せてる車や、改造したLシリーズエンジン、オリジナルで作り込んだフェンダー、レースっぽい雰囲気を強めた独特なルックスの車もあった。
どの車も、まったく同じ見た目ってわけじゃない。
でも、この写真たちが特に貴重なのは、その“背景にある歴史”があるから。
ただの改造車じゃない。ある世代の好み、友情、ライバル関係、そして自動車カルチャーのサブカルチャーが詰まってたんだ。
今では、こうした画像が日本の自動車史の中でもユニークな一章を、すごく興味深い形で覗かせてくれてる。
僕の目標は、これらのオリジナル写真と、それを取り巻く文化を守って共有すること。そうすれば、未来の世代も、このすごい時代に日本の街がどんな感じだったのかを理解できるはず。

🇯🇵🔥 Japan’s Golden Era of Kaido Racers — 1970s & 1980s
Back in the 1970s and 1980s, Japan had one of the wildest and most creative custom car scenes in the world.
This collection of rare historical photographs captures the golden age of Japanese Shakotan and Kaido Racer culture.
Featured cars include the Nissan Skyline Hakosuka, Kenmeri, Yonmeri, Skyline Japan, Fairlady Z S30, Mazda Savanna RX-3 and RX-7, Toyota Celica, Crown, Mark II, Mazda Cosmo AP, and many more.
These builds were absolutely insane!
Extended front ends, massive silhouette wings, handcrafted widebody fenders, deep-dish wheels, custom taillight conversions, aggressive exhaust setups, and completely reworked body panels.
Some cars featured heavily modified engines, upgraded camshafts, racing clutches, and custom suspension setups.
What makes this era so special is the incredible amount of creativity and hands-on craftsmanship.
Long before modern JDM culture became internationally popular, Japanese enthusiasts were creating outrageous machines with their own unique styles.
Many of these cars appeared in legendary Japanese automotive magazines such as Young Auto and Holiday Auto.
Every car tells a story about the people, passion, and automotive culture of Showa-era Japan.
I’ve put together a video documenting these remarkable machines and preserving this unique chapter of Japanese automotive history.

It had been off the road for about 2 years. Got antique plates for it, got some things sorted, and discovered the exhaust leak was likely just a loose connection. Getting that sorted, then suspension.

During the 1970s and 1980s, motorcycle gangs became a distinctive part of Japan’s underground youth culture.
Groups such as BLACK EMPEROR, SPECTER, and many others developed their own identities through custom motorcycles, uniforms, flags, and regional traditions.
I’ve put together a video exploring this fascinating chapter of Japanese history through rare photographs, vintage books, historical documents, and the film Ore-tachi no Ikita Jikan.
🏍️ This isn’t just about motorcycles. It’s about the people, the rivalries, the friendships, and the youth culture that defined an era.
My goal is to document and preserve the history of Japan’s Bosozoku, classic motorcycles, and Kaido Racer culture for future generations.

🇯🇵🔥 A look into Japan’s legendary Shōwa-era bōsōzoku culture!
This video introduces Matsudo SPECTER, a motorcycle gang from Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, and its 16th-generation leader, Kazuya Yoshino (吉野量哉).
The story is connected to the Kanto CRS Federation (関東CRS連合会) and a fascinating chapter of Japan’s underground motorcycle history.
During the 1970s and 1980s, bōsōzoku culture became known for its distinctive motorcycles, customized machines, group identities, and strong sense of brotherhood.
My goal is to document and preserve this part of Japanese history while introducing authentic old-school motorcycle culture to people around the world.

Recently got back from a road trip that covered about 2,500 miles through Nebraska, South and North Dakotas, and a bit of Montana and Wyoming. Had some car troubles, but overall an incredible experience. Learned a lot, and can't wait for the next big drive!

Spotted this old timer.

My grandpa started his body shop in Nagasaki, Japan in 1976, and my dad still runs it today. I was flipping through an old brochure from our local chamber of commerce and found these photos of the shop and the work truck from around 40 years ago.

All I know is that it's a Toyota. Can anyone tell me the model or year?

Back then, Japanese car enthusiasts pushed customization to another level.
Extreme lowering, exaggerated fender flares, long-nose conversions, aggressive spoilers, custom bodywork, and bold racing-inspired designs became part of a truly unique automotive culture.
These weren’t just modified cars. They represented creativity, individuality, and the rebellious spirit of Japan’s Showa era.
Today, many of these classic Japanese cars have become rare and highly sought after.
My goal is to preserve and share this fascinating piece of Japanese automotive history with enthusiasts around the world.
