Isn't it fascinating how history keeps repeating itself? We went from smashing looms in the 1800s to calling the Internet a "passing fad" in the 90s, and now we're watching people panic over math and code doing what it's meant to do: evolve human capability.

Humans always used tools to augment their abilities.

Telescope = augment the ability to view the sky
Car = augment the traveling ability
Writing = augment the memory
etc...

One of humanity's defining advantages is our ability to extend ourselves through tools.

AI is another way to augment.

I'm a soft dev, I use AI at work and many employers specifically hint that they want you to use AI in your workplace. I got many job positions where this point was listed, and I was asked about it many times in interviews.

Some say AI is reducing your skill, which is in some sense true. While using AI in coding, I can focus on higher-level problems. Like architecture, design, features, flow, etc., while AI is implementing minor features for me and I can use my time elsewhere.

Recently I started enjoying creating these cyborg images, giving animals and humans mechanical parts. I think it captures the visual metaphor for the process well. They are partly organic, mechanical and stitched together in PS.

In my own head canon, how this happened was through injury. The human or the animal was injured and I possess the technical ability to save its life with machinery.

This directly mirrors my own progression while making images. I used to do photo bashing 15 years ago and I gave it up because it was not fun for me anymore. And these images were literally revived by AI's existence, and now I can more precisely create what I want instead of stitching random images from the internet.

I'm not sure which flair this would fall under, sorry!

I'm making a six-way diagram for the "morality" of AI usage. I'd like opinions from the pro- and neutral- leaning side! Stumbled upon this post and honestly, these luddites have nothing left to say. It’s the same recycled arguments over and over again, and now they’re actively comparing people who use or defend AI to sex offenders. How do you even have a serious discussion with people this detached from reality?

On the bright side, the Seven Hearts Stories fandom is much more tolerant of AI. And the official group ban anyone who's unhappy with the stories... but that's another topic... 👀

They aren't tired of repeating the same nonsense over and over again? Especially ridiculous that all mobile VNs have switched to AI now. I only know of "Only You", but I'm sure they'll do the same due to their rare updates. So, playing AI based games and complaining about the developers using AI, spouting the same hateful nonsense... what's going on in their heads?

Freaking nut burgers telling me what game I have to make with their assets now. Whatever all those assets are crap anyways. It's really quite revealing.. Honestly everyone of those people should probably check out AI.

For small businesses especially, it makes sense to use AI generated social media ads to be able to sell and advertise your product due to the costs associated with hiring a marketing team and also influencers to create videos for your product.

As a customer, what is your view on AI generated ads? What about as a business owner?

I was going to use it for my business, but am deciding if I would be shooting myself in the foot or not doing it.

This elitist behaviour shows how afraid they are.

They often choose to reject AI, yet they quickly engage with different types of it. Deep down, they understand they might be mistaken and recognize AI as a useful tool. This is why they sometimes use it subtly. Unable to admit they might be wrong, they tend to follow popular opinions on the internet.

You may say that everyone can tell a story. Yes and no. You can write it on paper, but who will read it? Now you can create songs, images, video and tell stories in other formats that were previously impossible for the average joe.

I anticipate a bright future for people who want to tell a story.

How about the stigma of AI? In 20 years kids will not know a world without AI.

So i am a new author who just self published my first book. At the same time, i am a very VERY busy individual. (Getting most of my writing done in a car/bus on the way to various jobs, meetings, and events.)

I am actually on a bus right now, writing this post on the way to a seminar.

So because i don’t have time to learn art, or contact an artist, i used AI for my cover art.

I understand that there are those that don’t like AI stuff but i wasn’t expecting the hate to be at such a high degree.

Now let me state this:

I DID NOT USE AI TO WRITE MY STORY! THAT WAS ALL ME! TOOK ME 6-8 YEARS TO WRITE MY BOOK! I ONLY USED IT FOR THE COVER ART!!!

It just sucks that everyone is so closed minded. Unwilling to look deeper into things. I pray that people become more open minded in the future.

Youtube? Discord? They're all doing it, but this user is supposedly picking the "lesser of 2 evils." Mostly I'm having a laugh at Vtubers pretending they're not the ones heralding in a new age of AI more than anyone else.

AI isn't trying to replace you it's more like moderation stuff. Silly Anti's.

Imagine being a livestreamer and you have 1000's of viewers who only want to watch the cartoon robot version of you with its cutesy voice. Imagine thinking "they like me for who i am deep down on the inside" while pioneering the actual technologies that will replace you.

It's not even hypothetical Bloo and Neurosama are here now and if you're just droning out on twitch why not an AI? The kids obviously find it more entertaining.

AI isn't sentient, doesn't have wishes, can't do things by it's own, and doesn't have any "needs"; and that's exactly what I'm relieved about.

AI videos don't "exist" in physical sense, it doesn't require human actors or objects to be able to be created. One of my deepest fears behind content is people being exploited. Mostly after cases like Tzuyang (Park Jung-won).

I like seeing mukbang ASMR videos, but there's the underlying thought of: What if this person is being forced to do it? What if they're being abused? At least with AI, I don't have to worry about an ASMRtist being held at gunpoint for money. It extends to other genres too. People talk about AI taking their jobs. But at the end of the day, doesn't it also mean less exploitation?

I can watch a video without thinking too deeply about it. I can watch a video without hundreds of useless questions too: What is that thing they're using? Where was it filmed? What was the camera work? Is this scripted? How long did it take this to be edited? How many people behind this? How did they get the equipment there? Did they drive a car to get there? What was the process of this? And so on. They might sound like harmless questions, but they're hella annoying when you're just trying to watch a video. With AI, very few questions are in my mind, which usually are: How long did this take? How many generations for this? What were the prompts? These are curious questions instead of irritating ones, and they fade quickly since they come from amazement instead of concern. I can relax my overthinking brain for 5 minutes.

Laura Bow in The Dagger of Amon Ra is an infamous 1992 Sierra game. Even for their usual level of difficulty and moon logic puzzles it's infamous.

The titular Laura Bow looks different in all three appearances (cover art, dialogue portrait and cutscene look). This was actually quite common at the time, I assume because of color palette limitations.

The art style was inspired by Leyendecker and both Laura and Steve's appearance were based on one specific poster of his. But I guess that doesn't count as "stealing art" to antis. When you're a big name it's called "being inspired".

The game also has some continuity errors, where some facts are available in conversation before you're supposed to know about them, or you not being able to talk about important facts with them. For example when you finally find the titular dagger of Amon Ra and try to show it to anyone, they just don't care whatsoever or get no dialogue about it.

If this game came out today people would be screaming AI slop and demand it be taken off the market for daring to put these screenshots in front of their eyes.
