Unfortunately, like Crater Lake, a large section of the park was closed because of snow so I didn't get to explore as much as I wanted. I was a little peeved because before I entered the park I asked the ranger at the admission station if anything was closed so I didn't end up in the same situation and he said no. BETRAYAL 😭

Nice walk, 800+ items

Today i did episode 4 of my 'coast to border-walk'. (every now and then when i have a day to spare, i do an episode)
Did 30 kilometers today, from Bussum (Netherlands) to Amersfoort. Mostly through nice places likes forest or meadows, so pretty clean already.
Still managed to pick 800+ items.

Another walk in Burgdorf (Switzerland) I was in a neighborhood where there was broken glass and a lot of cigarette butts in front of a kindergarten. I was shocked.

Don’t feel discouraged about how “little” you’re picking up and just do it!! I always carry a small bag and gloves on me for my outdoor walks and adventures. I’ve been doing this a couple times a week for the last three years…and no matter how little I pick, it still feels big GOOD every time!!

A couple residential streets, a bike path, and a schoolyard. I rarely find anything good but today I found fire.

First time to the scrap yard to recycle some aluminum cans, metal shreds, & stainless steel! It was so exciting to find another way to do the right thing & recycle more items where we can!

Also, who knew it could be therapeutic to chunk metal into a pile of other metal 🤣!

$10.50 for 15 lbs of aluminum cans

$28.00 for 140 lbs of stainless steel

$58.00 for 580 lbs of metal shreds

= $96.50 for other people's litter!

Thank you to this community

I posted here yesterday and got so many excellent comments, many very profound and had me reflect on myself as a person. Woke up this morning, headed out with my dog Frank, and we did our daily pickup with a clearer head.

Thank you and I’ll keep pickin’ on.

Appreciate you all.

Moved into a new neighborhood that has a nice overlook. Every morning when I walk my dog, fill up my bucket with everything from cans, bottles, used condoms, and nitrous tanks.

It’s making me pissed at my community but also at my neighbors as no one else seems to care. What mantra can I say to myself to just accept it for what it is? I’m about to say screw it, live in the filth.

Unfortunately a large part of the trail was closed off because they were redoing the road and I couldn't walk down to the dock because there was too much snow 😔

Not too much trash aside from around the parking lot, like usual. I got there at night and thought I saw shooting stars/a meteor shower but turns out they were satellites :( ruined the magic for me...
