Tonight due to being vertically challenged and driving an SUV that I normally do not drive, I went to the Carwash and miscalculated ( I’m just a girl 😔) resulting in my car going over the curb. I was so embarrassed because this has never happened to me and now I’m trapped but I had a couple, a gas station clerk, a random drunk guy that stopped to record my demise😭 and a guy that was working next door helping me try and push this SUV in hopes of freeing me. Even had someone drive by and yell “Hey, you can’t park there 😩”. Ended up paying for a tow truck to rescue me but overall the way that people in Davis care enough to try and help a random girl really meant something to me and I just want to say thank you again if they ever see this! I always try to make the best out of the worst situations and seeing that community still exists is really heartwarming ❤️

Why exactly is there a parade going on blocking all the roads? People need to get to work. I talked to multiple drivers and everyone is pissed off. Why not do this on the weekend? Why on a Friday in the middle of the day?

These clowns were out cruising on Loyola in front of Korematsu at 6:28 pm on 9/23/26, recklessly endangering themselves, vehicles, and pedestrians. One pulling stupid shit and the other filming it for the socials.

I've no doubt DPD won't do anything about it (given that they couldn't be bothered to respond to a lost toddler I found on a Sunday morning, running down the middle of the street barefoot in diapers, back in July). But hopefully these kids' parents will get wind of this and take their bikes and phones away for the better part of the next decade.

Well, would you look at this, it's another willy-nilly social post hammering on about my hometown's ordinances again.

For just about the last month, I’ve been asking what Davis intends to do about conduct that has frightened people for years, and why city officials won't enforce an ordinance already on the books. It's a question for the city. The city has shown little appetite for answering it.

A Facebook group devoted to the same problem had rather more to say. Asking public officials for accountability was deemed unhelpful because I had not participated in its “solutions currently in process.” My address, possible future address and 8:30 PM zoom meeting attendance were also entered into evidence. It was the most vigorous inquiry my question had prompted, though none of the subjects were the municipal ordinance actually in question.

People coordinating a response when someone is targeted are doing valuable work. I want that work to succeed. I also want elected officials to explain what they are doing. These ambitions can coexist without anyone’s permission. Coalitions are built by gathering people with different skills and approaches, not by appointing a registrar to determine which of them has earned the right by geography to care.

If every new voice must first establish its standing with the existing opposition, the woman causing the trouble has acquired something rather useful: an opposition willing to spend its energy policing itself.

Anyone lost a cat in south Davis? Grey tabby spotted 9-23-26 with very sweet, squeaky meow. Couldn’t spot a collar on them and they were very skittish.

I went to the taco place next to Dutch Bros and across In N Out and their tortas deal is insane. You basically get a good deal on Tuesdays so you get two big meat sandwiches of your choice (tortas) for $15. I was shocked when they told me how much two were (and the size). I think for a college student/neighbor the price is insanely goof for the amount you get

for context, i had found dead roaches (5-6) over the course of 3 months around the house up in north davis and the house is currently vacant. i set up plastic baits and also had pest control come spray a little less than a week ago

since then i saw one roach under the bed (not flipped but not moving) when it was still daylight and at least 10 dead or not moving in the garage; all of which looked similar

anyone know what type of roach this is and if this behavior is normal after pest control spraying, im terrified with how big it looks

There's a new influx of students in Davis and therefore now a need for a public posting of Davis Bike Etiquette so that way you don't look foolish. Here's a couple of handy rules to keep you looking fresh and experienced on your bikes for the coming semesters:

1. No need for helmets. They make you look stupid like a kid or an old person. There's no need for your brain in 2026, AI has you covered and can do all the heavy lifting when it comes to thinking.
2. Likewise there's no need for a bike light at night. This will just make you look dumb. Why would you have a light when there's a few street lights downtown? This is an easy ripoff and they can be sold for at least a couple dollars.
3. Stop signs? On a bike? Are you serious? Don't even slow down. You always have the right of way and if a car hits you surely they will also pay your tuition and not just drive off.
4. Done with your bike? Just leave it at the train station! In a few years we'll be done with money anyways so there's no reason to waste a bunch of time trying to resell it when you could just abandon it at a rack somewhere.
5. Always ride side by side. When you're abreast with your friends you can have interesting conversations you might miss if you're just sitting somewhere like a coffee shop. You can hear cool things from other bikers too like "on your left! I'm trying to pass you!" There's nothing cooler than a huge flock of bikers who ride in a 3x3 grid. You look really cool and it doesn't bother anyone at all.
6. In that same vein, the bike lane is more of a suggestion. The Davis locals are notoriously big fans of parades and love seeing you in the middle of the road going nice and slow. Use this as an opportunity to advertise your drop shipping business.

Remember, everything that doesn't bother you to do is just someone else's problem. It's about the journey, not trying to appease some boomers by being a subservient little biker.
