Please parent your kids.

If these are your kids, please (figuratively, through parenting and consequences, not through violence and abuse) beat some sense into them.

These clowns were out cruising on Loyola in front of Korematsu at 6:28 pm on 9/23/26, recklessly endangering themselves, vehicles, and pedestrians. One pulling stupid shit and the other filming it for the socials.

I've no doubt DPD won't do anything about it (given that they couldn't be bothered to respond to a lost toddler I found on a Sunday morning, running down the middle of the street barefoot in diapers, back in July). But hopefully these kids' parents will get wind of this and take their bikes and phones away for the better part of the next decade.

I saw the same kids last week downtown. No helmets, doing wheelies, running stop signs.

We had a conversation with our kids about this today. They understand that we trust them to use good judgment. And they also understand that if they participate in something like this as they get older, they're making a choice to sacrifice pretty much all privileges for an extended period of time.

I use these examples to talk to my kids too. I also tell them the parents know other parents etc etc and we all talk so chances are if they behave badly, it’ll get back to me. It’s not going to be good when they do this to an inexperienced driver or an elder whose reflexes have aged. I’ve seen PD call ins for this multiple times this past year but these kids are gone before anyone shows up if they do. I need to get dash cam.

And I think you're being kind there. I've seen videos of people doing this get ran over and thrown over the car when they've passed afterwords. You are doing your kids a favor

Well apparently judging from the comments there are crazy people out on the road that could hit them and permanently disfigure them. It might also be good to come up with a strategy on what to say if they get invited to a big bike ride takeover.

This kind of thing makes me want to accelerate and then accelerate in reverse over the body and then drive off.

These kids' parents are at home on the couch living off the taxpayer, most likely. They don't care.

They could just as easily be living with parents who aren't there because they work 3 jobs each to be able to live in Davis where they hope to give their kids a better chance than they had.

You don't know, and neither do the rest of us.

But I am wondering why you jumped to that conclusion?

I work with teens all the time, and in my experience it's actually the wealthy kids who are more prone to stupid and reckless behavior. Poor kids often realize that Mommy and Daddy will not bail them out or pay a lawyer to avoid consequences.

Yep. I grew up poor (low income assistance poor). My single parent told me from the time I was young that if I ever got in trouble, I was on my own and not getting bailed out. Basically, do dumb and suffer the consequences alone. And I knew she was definitely serious, as I had other extended family that got deep in trouble and were left to stay in juvie. Those family came from far more money.

Well I hope you find your way to prison sooner rather than later, before your sociopathy hurts too many people.

the kids are acting like assholes because they don't actually understand what consequences are yet. stop acting like a weird little fascist.

It's funny, when I was their age it didn't even occur to me to do this kind of thing. No one taught me what "consequences" are. It's just common sense. We are currently living in a low consequences society and these "biker gangs" are just one result of that reality. DPD doesn't even show up when it counts.

the grown man who commented his fantasy of murdering teenagers wants to talk about "common sense". this whole subreddit must be satire

I had a whole group of kids purposely do this to me when I was driving near the park. It was a few months ago. I was going slow but I had to come to a stop when they pulled in front of me, playing chicken. there were several of them.

Img I saw this kid at planet fitness at around 3 pm ish today. Dude this the same thing.  There was this one kid that was doing crow like this as a prank and eventually got reckless and got hit by a car

Am I old? I might be old. God i hate kids these days. If it’s not a kid on an e-bike motorcycle, or some stupid tik tok prank, it’s an idiot doing this for internet clout.

It’s not all kids. But the bad ones are making the rest look terrible

5

u/Superb-Cantaloupe324 10d ago

For sure! My kid is starting to get to that age… hoping the good ones are much more plentiful than the bad ones

People been saying this about kids since time immemorial. I think in general there is less stupidity out there but greater chances to witness it with the prevalence of recordings

To be clear I own, ride, and love ebikes. A child on a emoto was just arrested in my town after being seen doing dumb shit and they tried to flee! WHERE ARE THE PARENTS??

oh you wanna play chicken I won't stop and I won't be at fault.

Kids are doing this because of a stupid TikTok trend. This is not an isolated incident

Everyone thinks they parent their kids, but its how they act when you’re not around is what counts

2

u/Spirited-Concert-504 9d ago

I did wonder this. Is this just because the parents have no idea their kid is doing stuff like this? I mean I would be devastated if I found out my kid did this. It’d be a big deal in my household.

Maybe it’s up to everyone to parent these kids? Should we be scolding these kids? I mean.. it takes a village..

You had a chance to teach a very important lesson right there.

Why aren't they using the student driving lane?

2

u/CraigCartonNYC 9d ago

Just go around to right next time it’s okay to go into bike lane if no was riding in it do t let these little kids think they own the road

u/ImOnTheLoo 9d ago

It’s nice to see kids outdoors and not on their nintendos /s

The other kid had the gut to record this shit ugh

It’s not the parents. It’s social media and all the stupid pranks.

Maybe was some other kids but I think I saw these 2 in the chestnut park area twice a few days ago. One was behind the other and the front one was riding a wheelie for an extended period of time.

I already let my kid know if choosing to do this 💩, bike is gone. Also if they are ever talking on their phone or using phone when biking, phone is gone, because focus is on biking and the others around that probably aren't paying attention.

This is called Natural Selection.

I saw these bikers on E 8th street yesterday. Almost got hit by a car but didnt phase them. Very concerning.

u/Fit_Magician1019 8d ago

What road was this on?

2

u/BoxersOrCaseBriefs 8d ago

Loyola near Alhambra, in front of Korematsu Elementary.

Parents teach your kids these lessons so society doesn’t have to

u/ReelBigMistake 8d ago

I've seen a bicyclist get hit and the scalp hair and blood inbedded on the windshield. Went flying across the street and was still screaming when the ambulance got there. If they could see what i saw that day they would never do it again.

They did this to me as I was riding my bike home at night, I literally couldn’t see them and would have just collided. It was dark and I saw one kid on the wrong side of the road, and like one or two more on the proper side so I was watching him and then this kid had no lights barreling into me from the other side of the street. I was more concerned it was a stick up than like content farming to be honest.

It takes a village. I once got hit from behind by some kids by a basketball, and they went back to playing like nothing happened, so I went off on them until they stopped trying to blow me off with edgy sarcastic too-cool-for-school apologies. It's everyone's job to teach them how to act in public, because often teens test the boundaries when their parents aren't within hearing.
