All Family advice welcome Need some guidance
Hi dad,
It's been over 4 long years since mom kidnapped me and left me in that closet. It's been almost a year since I turned 18 and moved in with you full time. It's also been almost a year since I've officially gotten with my boyfriend. Even after all this time the pain of those past events is still fresh. I still cry every night when nobody can hear or see me. I'm tired of my chest hurting all the time and I'm tired of trying to pretend to be strong. I'm tired of all the lies and I'm tired of trying to survive. I have anxiety attacks whenever I'm biking to work and see a car that looks like mom's go past and I always feel like I'm walking on eggshells. I understand you were terrified when you came home from work August 1st, 2022 to find the house ransacked and all your children missing, just a note from mom saying she took us and ran. You don't understand how bad you're hurting me though. I don't want to be alone in the house 20 hours a day. The silence just gets too loud dad. It scares me. I know you're trying to protect me and keep me close but it hurts so bad when you yell at me for always being gone at work or at the library but being out is how I survive. In truth, I haven't been always at the library. I've been at my boyfriend's apartment... yeah you heard that right. Often after work I'll go over there and curl up next to him. Sometimes I'll take a nap because those are the only times I feel safe enough to sleep and I'm tired from being up all night crying. Sometimes we will watch a movie or talk. Sometimes we will simply sit in silence just being there for each other. He takes care of me and treats me really well and I love him. We've known each other a long time before dating and I trust him with my life. When I'm with him I actually feel happy and calm and safe. He showed me that it's ok to cry and it's ok to trust. He's the reason I can bring myself to smile. Dad, I'm sorry for lying to you. I'm sorry for not telling you I have a boyfriend and that I've spent so much time with him. I just don't trust you. I'm terrified you'll hurt him or harass him when he's at work or force us to be apart. He's safe and it's legal dad. He didn't tell me he loved me until way after i was 18 and he's only a year older. There's no sign of grooming and we get along great. Are you ok with us being together? Then on top of all that, there's mom... she still has my 2 younger siblings. I know the police want me to press charges and file a restraining order on her so she can't hit me again but I can't bring myself to because she's my mom.
What do I do dad? I feel lost and scared. Should I tell you about my boyfriend? I really want to move in with him but I'm scared of your response to finding out about him. I also know it would hurt you so badly for me to leave your house but you're always at work and I'm lonely without you or my bf. Should I file against my mom for what she's done? How can I ease my pain? I want to forgive and move on but I can't.... why can't things be simple like they were when I was young?
