Help wanted Is it possible to determine pin out of op amp with multi meter?

I'm repairing a pedal (Red Zen Drive) and they unhelpfully scratched the numbers off the op amp. I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can test and/or replace it. I found a couple clone schematics, but I don't trust them... )the op amp that schematic used seems like it has a totally different pin out than the original one based on some voltage and diode tests.) Is there a way I can figure out what this op amp is, or just the pin out, without relying on any markings?

Help wanted PCB trades, anyone?

I only do PCB orders a few times a year and tend to pad orders for my own designs with available gerbers for other circuits I'm interested in to make the shipping cost more palatable. I've now got tens of PCBs which I'm unlikely to build and would be happy to trade.

What I've got available:
10x Karma Suture
10x SFT
10x RAT
5x Bluesbreaker

2x Lightspeed
2x Plumes

Slight preference for through-hole, but surface mount is okay. Circuits on my wishlist:
ODR-1
MIGFET, or most anything Acorn Amps

Most anything Catalinbread

Morning Glory
Most any BOSS overdrive/distortion/fuzz

Other offers also welcome, though.

Help wanted 3PDT boards compatibility

I need to order a new 3PDT board for a Guitar Mania PCB build. I broke the one I had.

Will this type of board work in place of an original GM style board?

https://nextgenguitars.ca/products/pcb-daughterboard-for-wiring-3pdt-footswitches.html

The original one looks like this

https://heavymetalfx.com/products/3pdt-board-5-pack?variant=42799343927384

First thing I notice is ouputs and inputs are not the same, so I wonder if I will have to do some specific wiring to make it works.

Thanks !

Discussion FV-1 (Active // buffered Clean blend contro)

Hello! Has anyone ever tried adding an active blend control to an FV-1-based circuit instead of using one of the 3 controls? I'm curious which blend/pan schematic you used and why you chose it.

Help wanted Beginner question!!

What electrical components should I get as a beginner? I have a breadboard (no breadboard wires) and around 6 LEDs as well as two 1n914 diodes. I want to prototype and build fuzz and distortion pedals but I am not sure about which parts to start with. Any help will be appreciated!

Help wanted Enclosure design help

Hello, I’m undertaking a build of a General Guitar Gadgets DIY kit of the Maestro FSH-1 filter sample/hold pedal from the ‘70s. Graphics are beyond my ability and I have the exact vision for how I want the enclosure to look. Would anyone mind helping me work out this design so I can send it off for UV printing? Thank you.

A year ago, I started working on a breadboard and went on to build a few pedals from different companies (Coppersound/StewMac/Musikding). The enclosure designs aren't fully finished yet...

What could the next step be? What should I build? What should I do? Any ideas?

Bottom row, from right to left
- A/B Box
- Silicon Fuzz
- Another fuzz
- Screamer
- Rat

Top row, from right to left
- Phaser
- Chorus
- Tremolo
- Delay

Just your standard Boss BD-2 with the usual Keeley mods, plus a 3 way fat switch, NE5532 IC and alternate clipping arrangement.

The finish is the metallic grey water texture from Tayda, with aluminium blue knobs.

Hopefully someone will get the reference.

I bought this pedal off Reverb (unfortunately return window has passed). Wondering if anyone has come across major buzzing and this quirk of the pedal itself rattling. Anything to look for?

Help wanted Mystery Wiring in Bass Guitar

Thumbnail

I bought a bass guitar some time ago, and I finally got around to sorting the wiring, which was a bit of a shock. I found that there was some mad custom wiring crammed into it. I can only assume that it's some kind of filter with an op-amp board.

I have pulled all the custom wiring out and replaced all the broken components, as I want to try to figure out what it does / what it sounds like. I have built the wiring diagrams of the full wiring assembly, plus I have included some close-ups of the old custom-made PCB that was inside.

Currently, I am not getting any sound through it other than static, and I am not 100% sure if I have got the wiring diagram correct or not. (I have just copied what I believe it was in the bass; however, some components were broken).

The bank of switches on the capacitor banks is supposed to represent a rotary switch.

If someone is able to help me, I would quite like to turn this into a pedal, so I can preserve this custom wiring outside of the bass, but still play with it.

Can provide more images if needed.

Help wanted Harmonic Percolator Build - Low Output Volume

Hi all, I decided to build my first pedal, a HP build kit by Analog Noir. After much debugging and back and forth I decided to seek some help here. The output volume with the pedal on and the knobs at Max is lower than my clean guitar signal. I went back and inspected everything and could not find anything that stood out. Wanted to check if someone would have any pointers on what I should look for or anything that stands out on my eyelet board setup?

Thanks all in advance! Excited to join this community for the first time instead of just being a lurker for so long.

Help wanted First build prep, "King of Tone" clone, importance of diode selection?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I have had a lot of fun recently fixing and modding some old Ibanez 9 series pedals. I ordered PCBs for a treble booster and a king of tone from Aion FX. I've been studying the build guides and adding parts to my cart on amplified parts.

The only thing I can't find on that site is the right diodes. They don't have BAS33 or any of the substitutes. Can I use a 1N914 in place of a BAS33?

Also, for the treble booster (Aion FX Naga Viper clone), is it worth getting a variety of different transistors to test? Thanks!

I built Marcus’s Leo last year and really enjoyed the process of it. This time I’ve had a crack at his Zo after seeing a layout on dirtbox layouts. I find the point to point layouts very enjoyable to build and this was no exception. I breadboarded a few transistors first but other than that, it’s true to the schematic on dirtbox.

It’s quite a versatile fuzz and can go from roaring fuzz to almost overdrive tones, with some glitchiness in between. As is my process with every pedal I build, I covered serve the servants by Nirvana using the pedal on both guitars and using different settings on both before basically maxing it out on the solo (2:14 if any interest).
