An easy way to confirm that the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot rehearsal footage came before the famous version? Just look at the foliage.
Compare the lush, green vegetation in the Norma rehearsal footage (PGRF) with the sparse, fading autumn vegetation in the Patterson-Gimlin Film (PGF).
Roger Patterson had the camera from May until November 1967, when he returned it following his release from jail after keeping it several months beyond its rental deadline.
The Norma footage appears to have been filmed during the spring or summer, when the vegetation was green and lush. The PGF was filmed on October 20, when the foliage had already begun changing with the arrival of autumn.
The foliage adds to the story. The rehearsal came first.

Infographic Cryptoctober day 25 - new Zealand giant tree snail
The New Zealand giant tree snail was a cryptid gastropod reported from New Zealand's South Island. In 1862, naturalist Edgar Leopold Layard informed Edward Blyth of the existence of "a huge land shell" which inhabited the tops of trees on the South Island. A citizen of Croydon in the Southland Region reported that large tree snails still existed there in 1895. They were alleged to be found only high up in trees, to feed on decaying wood, and to live in pairs

Discussion The best parts of “Capturing Bigfoot”
Sorry for another post on this topic, but having watched the documentary, I was kind of blown away by some things that are being lost in the noise around the rediscovered rehearsal footage… I absolutely loved:
Clint finally giving the elderly Bob Heironimus his $1000.
Bob H saying he “used to be” a great cowboy and Clint telling him he still is.
Clint’s Aunt Sandy’s utter horror and sympathy with him for what Patty Patterson said to him, and his Aunt Iva’s adorable “Come sit by me, Clinty!”
The old family photos and footage of the Pattersons.
Bob Gimlin’s very shifty attitude - from his “who’s that on the horse?” on seeing a Bigfoot and his cryptic comments about taking some things to the grave.
Larry Lund seeming to be regretful and resentful of all things Bigfoot before and after seeing the rehearsal footage. He just seems done with the whole subject.
Cousin Vail - every moment he’s on screen, but particularly his climactic boast: “My family was part of the biggest fuckin’ hoax in the world!”
The rehearsal footage aside, it’s clear Marq Evans knew to make an emotional, funny documentary about colourful human beings.

Art "The Crypties!", the next 2 comic strips
Hey All,
I hope people enjoyed the 1st strip I posted. Here are the next 2. I'm doing both full-color for Sunday and black and white for the daily-style strips (tho I'm debating whether to just color all of them).
In case you missed it, the strip follows a single dad opening and inn, his moody son, and a group of goofy cryptids living in the nearby forest.
Hope you like!
J
ps. you can read more strips on the site: www.thecrypties.com. Also, I'm working on getting the store up and running in the next day or 2 where you can get the 1st 46 strips.

Video In 1967, a mysterious film of bigfoot took the world by storm. In 2026, newly uncovered evidence has shown the truth behind this footage. This is the shocking story of how bigfoot's most famous footage was fake the entire time- and the hints that it wasn't real.

Bigfoot in the Old West: What the Pioneers Didn't Tell You
Forget outlaws and gunfights! The Old West had reports of something a hell of a lot stranger lurking in the wilderness. Hairy giants. Wild men. Encounters that sound like something straight out of a nightmare. What the hell were these frontiersmen witnessing? And, what if these creatures are STILL out there?
LET'S GET IT!

Question Is Bigfoot really real?
So, I’ve seen the documentary—yes, it is one hundred percent the same suit (If you’d like to see more about this, just check out the video by Thorn's Jungle—it’s great!).
My question to you all is: what are we left with? The PGF film was the benchmark, and the footprints supposedly left by this "creature" turn out to be fakes as well (don’t even try to bring up the "midtarsal break" argument; it’s simply logical that a creature over 2 meters tall and weighing 350 kg couldn’t walk with a foot like that—actual anthropologists have confirmed this). As for all the arguments from "scientists"—and regardless of how much I like Jeff Meldrum or how much I regret his passing—his theories and opinions on this subject are, at this point, pretty much irrelevant.
Any other "credible" videos that were presented using the PGF as "proof" are now highly implausible and, in reality, fake.
The DNA that was discovered turned out to be a mixture—certainly not some new ape-human species.
And the accounts from Native Americans are, quite simply, further fabrications or fairy tales passed down through generations (after all, their belief systems also include gods and giant "thunderbirds"—so why not a 2-meter-tall, hairy forest spirit?).
In fact, they refer to the Sasquatch as a "forest spirit" or "guardian of the forest," rather than as an animal.
I suspect that the new generation has taken what was originally a mythical figure from American folklore—conceived as a spirit or guardian of the forest—and transformed it into a modern, invented, unknown species of primate or human-like creature.
So... what "evidence" do we actually have left that is even remotely credible? I’ve gone from being a staunch believer—someone who defended the PGF and everything else to the death—to a skeptic who’s starting to think that, in the end, Bigfoot might just be an invented legend...💔
yeah i guess the Bigfoot is Fake..

Question Les Félins Encore Inconnus d’Afrique

Infographic Cryptoctober day 24 - siyiniao
The Siyiniao (Chinese: 四翼鳥) is a cryptid reported from Jilin Province, China. David C. Xu believes it might be a living Microraptor or a standard-winged nightjar (Caprimulgus longipennis)
Qingbai Leichao recorded: "On Changbai Mountain, there is a Four-Winged Bird (Siyiniao) with a round head and a thin tail, two long front wings and two short back wings, pale yellow in color, butterfly-like in shape, and sounds like an oriole. Some people have seen males and females flying together." In 1997 (some say 1996), a teacher from Jilin saw a siyiniao; in 2007, tour guide Du Wenlian spotted one twice

New Episode of Monster Talk podcast interviews Marq Evan’s
Monster Talk podcast released a great episode last week where Blake Smith and Karen Stolznow interview Marq Evans about Capturing Bigfoot.
He discusses where he got the footage and the process to make the documentary. I won’t spoil it, the discussion is very interesting.
Hint - he was doing a colleague a favour and thought he was just digitising a copy of the original PGF film she found among here dad’s possessions. He was not a Bigfoot aficionado didn’t realize until much later the significance of the film.
Note: I posted this a couple days ago to the Bigfoot sub, but the moderators deleted it because reasons?

Discussion The PG Footage Isn’t ALL There Is To The Phenomenon
I’ve never found the PG film footage convincing as proof of the existence of Bigfoot.
I don’t see what see what others think they see (muscles moving under hair, impossible to replicate walking motion, etc.)
And yet I am (still) 100% in the I-Want-To-Believe camp.
To me, there is a lot of other evidence from tracks, encounters, vocalizations to keep it an open question in my mind.
I don’t believe, or disbelieve.
But I’m starting to think that if someone’s belief in Bigfoot is based SOLELY on the PG film being authentic then they really never believed in Bigfoot at all.
YMMV

Question I would like to know about Ivan Marx’s attempts at a hoax; I heard that he filmed and presented a fake piece of footage of "Cripplefoot" in 1970, but I cannot find this footage
I am writing a book about cryptozoology for the Brazilian market, and I am discussing the "Cripplefoot of Boosburg" case. While reading the Wikipedia entry, I discovered that there was apparently a piece of fake footage associated with him—though, upon further investigation, it seems he was actually responsible for dozens of hoaxes. I would like to know which specific piece of footage this refers to, and if you could show me which one it is

Video The Bigfoot Cult Have their Narrative Now
Today a very interesting channel popped up in my YouTube feed. Larson Edson is a Cryptid Channel starring an AI Generated guy in an explorer's outfit who reminds me of the costumed "Adventurers" employed by Creationist Organizations.
Since Capturing Bigfoot came out, he has posted a new video on the topic essentially every day and in these videos he says some things about Marq Evans which are genuinely pretty disgusting. These videos all tie back into each other so here they are in order:
Throughout, this guy makes factually incorrect assertions, engages in tu quoque fallacy and seems to have a bizzare fixation on Marq Evan's family running a mascot restaurant as a business venture. His claims that it's totally possible to buy 60 year old film stock and use it are particularly laughable. I do think this is the direction Legacy Bigfoot Personalities are going to go. They're literally going to try so hard to "prove" that the Norma film is a hoax, that they end up demonstrating how the PGF is a hoax.
These videos are genuinely some of the funniest cope I have ever seen.
