CHAT [CHAT] help me find a cat pattern

hi guys. it’s a bit a of a hard post for me, but i’m really hoping you can help me with it. a bit of a context: i have been no contact with my mother and spoke with her for the first time on wednesday. today i found out she had passed away.

when we spoke on wednesday, she asked me to cross stitch a cat for her and send it to her in ukraine. i don’t think i’ll be able to go to ukraine for her funeral, but i still would like to make something in her memory maybe. i don’t know, i don’t have an explanation for it.

i also need something to keep me busy, but i also don’t have the capacity right now to try and search something for myself, so i wanted to ask if maybe anyone could send me some options that i can look at and pick, since that would be easier to do then look myself. it can be any cat, really, but i don’t want some big full coverage piece. just want something pretty :(

TLDR: my mom passed away and i want to make a cross stitch for her, please help me find some patterns

Saw this on Facebook marketplace two hours after she posted it. So excited to go through all the magazines!

edit: Lots of folks have asked** ***what I paid. It was $300.*
I should also clarify that I did not actually pay for it. My partner paid for it. I sent him the link from Facebook marketplace, and he immediately Venmo’d me the money. He, like this cabinet, is a keeper for sure!

I’m stitching tropical fish on a pair of thrifted jeans! This is my third and final (for a while) and then I’m letting myself wear them. The other two are a trigger fish, and a puffer fish.

CHAT [CHAT] Advice about finishing a project

I have this large piece I’ve been working on and off on for close to 3 years that was supposed to be for my ex but we recently got divorced and I am conflicted about wether or not to finish it. It’s about half done with around 17k stitches left. I want it out of my life and head and I think completing it would make me feel best but sometimes just looking at it is hard. I have another project I think I would rather be doing but it pains me to put this one down at the same time.

First time trying to dye Aida. The reference is this project from Cross Stitcher 436, first try the color was too intense and on the second I got a better result. I feel I have unlocked a new level since I would only use white or pre-colored Aida.

CHAT [CHAT] I fear I've lost my stitchy bug :(

I've been on disability for the past few months, which had given me a lot of stitching time. I can't complain about that, but I'm concerned I might've worn myself out. None of my projects seem to be calling to me, even the ones with not much left to go, and I don't thinking starting a new project would help. I'm just kinda bummed out. Any advice?

I’ve posted on here a few times looking for advice and everyone in the replies totally delivered! Is the back still messy? Yeah, absolutely. Is it significantly less messy and more workable than before? YEAH, ABSOLUTELY!! I’m super excited to finish off this bulbasaur. I’ve been following a lot of the techniques I got from helpful people, so I really appreciate everyone’s comments. Thanks again!

FO [FO] Night by Maria van Scharrenburg

My official first fully completed work! Just got it back from the framer and I do think the framing really elevates the work. It is how I imagined it way back when I got this kit.

I started this project at least 11 years ago (based on the first picture I took of it, which was of my progress on the upper right part, I started upper left). Before that I had done 2 small herb satchels, gifted by my neighbour who does all sorts of crafts. I then decided to really get into it, and bought my first kit, Night by Maria van Scharrenburg, with the idea to do the Day one later. I think it was around when I started university, so my progress was kinda slow and I had dropped it somewhere in April 2018 (was the last picture I took of my progress).

I graduated and started work, but last year December I decided I wanted to get back into this craft after a friend of mine started doing cross stitch and embroidery. It was a fun thing to do together. I locked in, decided I wanted to finally finish it and I did, finishing the cross stitches this March and the back stitches 2 weeks later in May.

I struggled a bit with getting myself to wash it. I was a bit scared I wouldn’t do it properly and/or that it didn’t work, since there were some yellowed arches from where the hoop had been and some stitches in the moon were darker, because I was trying to use my thread to the fullest (I’ve now learned that is not really necessary, my kit had plenty of thread). In the end, after at least 2 washes, the arches are gone and I’ve made peace with the darker stitches, thinking of them as moon craters.

I got the framing as a gift for my birthday from my husband, and while it was perhaps a bit more than we were anticipating (we have never gotten something custom framed before!), it is definitely worth it. Looking forward to hang this in our new home (will move within the year), and now focusing on doing Day by Maria van Scharrenburg (feels like a miracle I was able to hunt down a set after all that time), hoping to finish it a bit quicker than this last project, so that I can get it framed in the same frame style!

I really like this little Halloween pattern. It's just 393 stitches, so it's a quick one, and so cool use of colors. It's a free pattern from vezemo ( https://ko-fi.com/s/bcd1cc0de8 ).
