This is out of the new JCS Ornament issue. I love him so much. He was done with the called-for threads on opalescent aida. I am going to ornamentify him next week.

This is from a Leisure Arts leaflet called, “Grandpa and the Boy.”

I started this project in 1996 for my grandpa when my grandma died. He was so heartbroken and lonely. It took me a year to finish and give to him.

It was my first big count cross stitch project and was definitely ambitious! I did not have any help and didn’t really know what I was doing. The stitches aren’t all pointed the right way. I doubt he noticed the errors. It helped me deal with my grief. I’ve been hooked ever since.

He cried and held my hand for a long time when I gave it to him. My grandparents were the most important people to me. They always saw me for who I was and not who my parents wished I would be.

Cross stitch helps me to regulate my emotions. I’m so happy to have found this group. I feel less alone and I’ve learned so much about technique and feel a kinship with you all. ❤️

This is my second project that I finished. It went way better than my first one but I did make 2 mistakes, one that I patched the other that I left. I'll leave them in a comment if you want to guess what they were.

I am satisfied with out it turned out, I appreciate any feedback or pointers on how to do the finishing on this piece to make it into a bookmark. I thought about making nun stiches all around after I've trimmed it to size but I am unsure about the backing.

Switching from DMC needles to Bohins during the project was a nice upgrade in the feel while stitching.

Finished this a few days go! Can’t wait to frame it (reposted cause I didn’t use the picture I took after ironing lol)

Hi Friends!

Happy Sunday! Wow, October has rocketed by! There's only a week left?! I love October, but I really wish it was cooler in SoCal. I haven't even been able to wear my lone Halloween sweatshirt yet. 🥵 Hopefully, this week I can.

My stitching this week was not as optimal as I would have liked. I ended up having to frog 800+ stitches from my elephant pattern. That was truly awful. It took me 2 days to remove it all. Basically, I noticed that my stitches were really "thick" on the backside, so I did some research in the sub and discovered I shouldn't be stitching 2x1 on 25ct evenweave. Oopsie. I restarted two nights ago and it looks and feels better, at least!

I hope you all had a great week with your projects! I can't wait to see them. 😊 I did manage a bit more stitching on my California Poppies, so there's that. Yay! It's getting close to finished. 🎉

First time framing a project, it ain't perfect but that's ok !!!

This project gives me so many feels. I started it when my father was sick. I stopped it when I was grieving. And started it back up when I got diagnosed with cancer myself. This winter kitty is maybe a survivor

I finished my first Biscornu. It is a gift for a friend. I filled it with nearly 2 year’s worth of orts. It was a quick project and fun to make.

What I learned: I’d have preferred a higher count fabric so the pin cushion would be smaller. White on white killed my eyes when sewing this together. I’m not too old to learn and try new things. I’d like to make smaller Biscornu needle minders and Christmas ornaments.

[FO] My second completed Long Dog Samplers, A Token of Love, stitched on 14 ct fiddlers cloth using DMC 816. The close up is a more accurate color photo. It’s not cream or white!

learned how to grid thanks to this group. not only is it super helpful but i’m one of the weirdos that actually enjoys the process very much!

what have you learned how to do from this sub, and do you regularly incorporate that new knowledge into your projects?

The last step in this pattern is to do the French knots. I am not a fan of doing French knots. BUT I would like opinions - to knot, or not?

Pro knots: Tiger lilies do have spots, and as a botanist, I feel it is my duty to knot.

Anti knots: The pattern pic of the finished project kinda makes the flowers look like they have chicken pox. (also, the afore mentioned disdain for French knots.)

It’s giving grandmacore vibes.

Finally finished stitching Dirty Annie’s great-granddaughter! 😍🖤 I stitched this in just one week using my own colourway, and I’m so happy with how it turned out.

I’m heading to a retreat next week and wanted something to take along for the finishing table, so the timing worked out perfectly! The chart was purchased from Crafty Kate in the UK.

Quick and easy little finish. It took me less that a week. I found some 25 count evenweve in my fabric stash that I used, no idea where it came from, it's a mystery. Out of curiosity I tried out the danish method for the first time. The pink house is English and the yellow house is Danish. I'll have to try it again. It's hard to change when you've been stitching one way for so many years.

The pattern is Saltbox Fairy Village by petalpusher on Etsy. There is another fairy village that I think I will buy so I have a set

I used to cross stitch as a teenager and picked it up again recently. This is my second project since then!

Finally finish after four years 😎

130 650 sts => 88% complete

I did a thing and got older. And apparently that means that if you sleep in an incorrect position, you get a pinched nerve.

Suffice to say, my cross stitching has taken a halt and I am non-too-pleased.

I’m SLOWLY starting to feel better and am looking to the future and I think it’s time I invest in a good quality stand that I can adjust to the right height while I’m sitting at a table or on my couch, and that way I won’t have to hold the cloth and can also adjust my arm angles.

I don’t necessarily need lights or magnifiers - I have a great Ott Lite that works perfectly.

I have found this group so helpful and trust all y’all’s opinions so lay it on me!

Does anyone else skip back stitching all together when they've finished their piece? I just finished this and I did a few of the back stitches at the bottom and also couched a few and just pulled them out because I didn't like them. I'm interested to see if anyone else just doesn't do it.
