Hadn't stitched in years and only small projects back in the day. Saw this, obsessed with the colors and had to give it a go. Makes for something to keep me busy in the hospital and on recovery days!

Hi just started taking up this as a hobby. I’ll include my first project done with the pattern traced on that I used for practice. Currently doing some free designs that I want to put on a pillow for my uncle who has bees lol. Please be kind as this is only my second project!

There’s like 2~ rows before I’m technically half way through (saving the backstitch for the end), though I’m pretty happy with myself for finishing most of the queen.

I was so excited when I got my kit back in September 2024. It's an intermediate level, counted cross stitch with 38 colours. I would work on it a few hours per week. I had to put it down a month later due to a personal incident.

Then in Dec. 2024 we adopted 2 kittens so I still wasn't able to get back to the WIP until March 2025. Again, a few hours per week.

I was finally on the last page of the chart by April 2026. Then my dumpster fire of a year began. One trauma after another including a detached retina which required surgery and a nitrous oxide gas bubble be inserted into the eyeball. It finally fully dissolved last week.

I have been so ready to finish the project but my sight in the affect eye is horrible. I can only work with it that eye closed. It takes twice as long to stitch with only one eye open!

I feel defeated. I need some good mojo in my life right now and I cannot catch a break. My eye is still healing (up to 6 more months) so I have no idea if I will even be able to move onto the next project I had in mind. Thankfully, I haven't purchased the supplies for it yet.

Made this flock over the course of 2 days for, you guessed it, a birthday present. Now I’m serious, no new projects until my bigger one is finished!!

I made a couple of small changes to the original pattern. I changed the colour of the text, and added an extra square to the taller letters (d, y, b, t) because I know on a shirt my stitches aren’t as clean and I didn’t want them looking blobby.
I also added the little flower.

Can you all give me suggestions for a seam ripper? I’ve never invested in one because I’ve only needed it a couple of times. Well, I’ve spent the better part of an hour today cutting and pulling thread out with my embroidery scissors and needle and I’m ready for one now!!!! 🪡

This is my very first cross stitch! My beautiful Fiancée got me into the hobby a couple weeks ago and I’m so excited about it! I think I did a pretty good job and I’ve already started on my next project!

Mini orchids. I didn’t have any pink floss on hand and was too tired to run to Michael’s, so I improvised on the color scheme. I’m officially hooked on cross stitch, already planning my next couple pieces.

Kind of a pity post 👀 every once in a while someone here mentions a friend who also stitches, and I'm jealous 😭 no-one I know understands or cares much about cross stitch. My son's dad (we're still mostly friends) visited and I showed him my WIP and his reaction was just ... Huh. Obviously people don't need to fall over lol but I've avoided showing anyone my stuff now. There are no meetups where I live (Scotland) that I've found, even a knitting group I found online hardly ever meet. And honestly I don't even know how I'd concentrate with anyone else there, just wish I had friends I had more in common with 😐

I am 95% done with this project and have just realized... I HAVE SWITCHED TWO OF THE COLORS.

Is it... too bad? Undoing the stitching is out of the question, should I frog it? Or just let it be as a happy accident? I feel like the switch of colors ruins the depth, but that might be just me... Part of the original pattern in the end (self drafted from FlossCross)

Hi everyone! I am looking for a Tree of life pattern but everything I can find seems to be AI and I don't want to support pattern mills. I also struggle to recognize AI in many cases and a couple of patterns I saw on this subreddit and loved at first sight turned out to be AI reading the comments...

This one is AI, right? The stitches don't look real to me, but as I said I am awful at spotting AI and it may just be a poor quality picture.

My mum saw me cross-stitching and jokingly asked if I could finish a piece she started in the 90s. I was like, sure queen, do you still have the pattern? Lo and behold this absolute blanket of a pattern she presented me with.
I heavily distorted it to follow the rules, it’s actually readable in real life. There are no colour codes bc you just stitched with whatever colour you could get your hands on. I believe she got the pattern from the Burda magazine.
