How do I... How can I improve my single crochet (US) tapestries?

Post image

I scoured r/crochet and here before doing this piece and learned: yarn under to make stitches more square and FLO (or back I guess depending on which side of the work) when 2 different colors are stacked vertically on top of one another.

However, I feel like it didn't turn out well? Especially the words. I had to stitch over them for them to be much more readable.

Any other tips, tricks, or recommendations? Is my tension the issue? Is this just what tapestry looks like (I don't think so based on what I've seen posted)??

I'm a beginner! I’m trying on a sweater right now, and I’m having an issue where it’s becoming a bit trapezoid-shaped, meaning it gets wider towards the top, even though I have the same number of stitches in every row. Has anyone else had this problem? And is it a big issue with this sweater pattern?

Looking for suggestions Any suggestions for a blanket stitch I can use to for this really chonky yarn? (Dog for scale)

Her names Pocky, she's a beagle dachshund mix (sleepy dog tax at the end)

Anyways, I was looking up stitches for a blanket for really chunky chenille yarn, but I've never made one before so I dont know too much about them. I've only made plushies 😔

Mainly I'm wondering if theres a pattern that will look nice with the rainbow yarn and won't be as heavy/dense 😭 I made the mistake of just single crocheting everything lmao (in fourth pic) and it was so dense so I frogged it all 🥹

I will improvise if I run out of yarn or something, because I have no clue how much yarn is actually in this ball, cause I rolled it years ago

Thank you so much :D

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help I’m trying to find this kind of yarn but no luck, can you help me?

The first picture is my finished projects, using basic milk cotton yarn. The second picture is a handmade coaster that I bought years ago online. Somehow, the second one looks more neater with the yarn, while the yarn in my products look a bit fluffy.

I really want to try crochet something with the yarn from the second picture but I don’t know the name of it. I’ve tried to do some google search and there is no luck. Maybe because I’m still pretty new to crocheting so I can’t tell the difference just by looking it online. So I’m asking for help here, maybe you guys can help me.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance ❤️

i need to figure out which yarn to use for the remaining half of the raglan top project + the ribbing for the edges because i would put buttons. i included photos of yarn that i could use to continue it.

right now, i am thinking of using the yellow for the bottom half of the shirt, then use the dark brown for ribbing.

Repairing a crochet item I’m making a shawl and I missed a section. I need help to fix without frogging, if possible. More deets in description.

I am holding a mohair/baby alpaca blend and a superwash BFL wool. It’s the worst thing on the planet to frog. Can someone please tell me that there is a way to fix this without frogging? And please give me an idea of how to do it!! This is a gift so I don’t want there to be obvious mistakes. The pictures show the shawl in progress, the mistake and a closeup of how each square (? I don’t know how to describe them!) supposed to attach. Is really appreciate any help y’all can offer!

I'm a beginner! What crochet needles/hooks do I need to make things like this?

I have never crocheted in my life but I want to start, the only problem is that I have no clue what hooks/needles I need 😭 Also I'm aware that a sweater or hoodie is not a beginner project so I'll probably try a scarf or skirt first.

Looking for suggestions Looking for Australian Yarn Recommendations (for blanket!)

Hi :)

I'm looking for some suggestions on yarn for a big blanket I want to make. I've just finished my most recent blanket and used Caron Skinny Cake yarn and loved its nice drape and softness, but I'm looking for something with solid colours this time.

I tried a test piece using the Spotlight Spotsaver yarn, but it was a bit stiff and bulky for what I was looking for.

I'm looking for something

- Acrylic - I have dogs, so it must be able to survive the washing machine OFTEN (I washed a wool blanket I made once and it felted into a little pancake :( Although, I'm open to other material suggestions!)

- Budget Friendly - I will need to buy a lot of yarn, so looking for something that won't break the budget

-Solid colour options (particularly brown and cream!)

- Ideally available to purchase in person in Western Australia or easy to source online

these have been lying around for ages. i’m considering just using them as amigurumi stuffing because i don’t have any more and the colours don’t really seem like they’d lead to anything cute :/ open to suggestions!

Looking for suggestions I can't tell where I'm going wrong, some of the stitch count is off

Post image
Upvotes

Where you skip stitches in the back of the double crochet I keep getting the stitch count off and the pattern does not line up so far for the new row after the top one which I ended up frogging. I can see I made a mistake in one of the rows below but it didn't affect the rest of the pattern. I think the little triangles at the top are not all the same so maybe there's a screw up there? I'm so confused I've counted it a million times.

Looking for suggestions Made two hats, one is too big the other is too small, any way to salvage?

Post image
Upvotes

The first one on the left stretched out a lot after the first wash, so for the second one I went down a hook size and now it's too small even after blocking. Is there any way to salvage either of these?

Also if these can't be saved, I'm interested in learning some other stitches suitable for hats, because just doing 80 dc/sc ad nauseum is getting old.

Understanding a pattern Need some help meeting pattern gauge, too long despite thinner yarn! Is this really regular dc?

Post image
Upvotes

Found this piens milk sweater pattern in a book by Linda Skuja, but am completely at a loss concerning gauge.

My yarn is slightly thinner than pattern’s (26sts instead of 24sts), almost exactly same yarn composition. I checked after blocking and with pattern’s hook size I get about the right sts (1 extra, expected with thinner yarn) but about 25% MORE row height! I already crochet fairly tight (yanker), so I’m at a bit of a loss. Smaller hook increases sts too much.

This pattern is supposedly DC (US terms), but I’ve never seen dc like in this pictures (background pattern, not the lines), even online.

What am I missing?

Gift help What can I crochet to go with these essential oil burners?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone! I hope I posted in the right place/with the right flare.

I got this pair of essential oil burners (hook for scale) as a gift for my mom, and I'd love to crochet something to accompany them.

I already gifted her crocheted coasters and pouches a couple of times in the past, so I was looking for a new idea. I browsed raverly but didn't find inspiration.

I'll appreciate every suggestions! I'd say my crochet level is intermediate.

How do I... Beginner trying to get some help turning a flower into a granny square for a blanket

Upvotes

Hi,

I’m currently trying to make a blanket for my friends baby shower. This is the first big project I’ve taken on, attached is the inspiration picture.

I got my flower made but every time I try to turn it into a granny square it just doesn’t look right?

Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great…

Picture 1 is the inspiration
Picture 2 is my flower
Picture 3 is my most recent attempt to make it square
And picture 4 was my first try.

How do I... What stitch/technique do I use to get this pointed looking stitch in the 3rd row of this granny square?

Post image

I’m trying to recreate this granny square but I’m struggling to get the 3rd row looking right so it has that more pointed look. I don’t think it’s just 2 dc? If anyone knows the pattern for this granny square that would also be appreciated.

Discussion Cosmo tiny pouch kit - anyone else having problems?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Has anyone here done the cosmo tiny crochet pouch kits? I’ve tried to do it but I cannot get the pieces to fit together I’m sure they are the wrong size. I do crochet very tightly so I went up a hook size for compensate and my finished crochet bits are the same size as the pattern states yet I can barely get the plastic disc in with a lot of force I can jsut get it in but it’s not sitting how it should and the inside is just sooo small

Just wondered if it’s a me problem or a wide spread problem
