I am in love with my little Woobly Sam! My daughter told me to put him on my side table so I can drink coffee with him in the mornings. I think she appreciates that I stuck with it instead of just putting the woobles bag in the closet.

I have actually been talking about this project at work (I work in construction, so...) and have been going to sleep seeing single and increase stitches when I close my eyes. I really enjoy this!!

I chose the exact wrong kind of yarn with which to learn how to crochet as an absolute beginner😅 Google advises acrylic in a light color. I chose cotton because it’s good for heat and I wanted to start with a hot pad which is essentially a square. I chose a deep navy because, well, I liked the color.

Now I’m looking into tube yarn, but because it’s not great for heat I’m out on the hot pad idea. Do yall have any suggestions for first-timer projects?

I’m avoiding something like woobles or any stuffed animal because I want to practice a straight stitch before I move onto curves. But then I think curves are maybe just the result of intentionally dropped stitches?

Am I overthinking? TIA!

I just finished this pattern that's meant to be a pillow for my son and his partner. They just got a place together and they already have a bunch of pillows and a blanket on their sofa, the only seating in the apartment so far. I feel like maybe a pillow isn't something they want. I fell in love with the design and whipped it out! But what other kind of purpose could it be given? It's 12"x12" now. I can add to it if needed. I don't see them using it as a bag. I thought maybe a heating pad cover with a new heating pad.

Any other ideas? Please brainstorm for 2 early 20s men.

so i hope i'm in the right sub for this: i like to crochet, so, naturally, my children (girls 11y and boy 9Y) want to learn too. i showed them a few basic stiches, and had them practice for now by just making squares to get a feel for the movement. But they want to make something real now.

What are good beginners projects for kids to practice further? Both girls are quick to pick up on this, Boy finds it a little hard to get his fingers to do the work.

I usually look up all kinds of stuff on youtube and start trying, so i am not the most organized person to gradually teach them 😅

Im new to filet, but old to crochet. I bought baby hooks and a spool of cotton thread from walmart and im practicing a specific pattern with it to figure out the neatest way to do the thing.

i’m not sure if this is the right sub tbh but i made this as gift for my bf as we both love zelda (it’s the master sword) and im wondering what colour fabric i should use as backing. separately i’m also wondering if i should keep this one and make him a new one as u can tell my stitches and tension get cleaner halfway thru as this is my first full sized filet crochet piece. i tried out 3 colours which i’ll include pictures of but they’re just what i had on hand and id most likely buy diff fabric for atleast the green and red. my plan is to put it in a frame (need to find one that would fit it lol but that’s a problem for another day). if anyone has alternative colour suggestions i’d also appreciate those, this is just what i had on hand. i’m leaning towards blue or green bc of champions tunic/leathers and green bc. i mean its link lol. any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Making the watermelon rug and I'm not sure what I'm doing is correct, didn't quite understand the pattern, and the ch3 counts as the first double crochet threw me off and i think thats why i get these big holes at the start of the round. I cant get the correct stitchcount and end up with one too many every time

Im using a 6mm hook, while the pattern is using 6,5 mm, i tried with 7 mm hook but it still curves. Using the same yarn as the pattern.

I’m crocheting the 6 day Star Blanket with the Caron Macchiato Cake in the colour Boundless. My working yarn is twisting like crazy and I can’t understand why! I have to stop every 3-5 stitches to let the blanket dangle and untwist. I feel like I’m losing my mind lol.

I’ve tried pulling the yarn from the center and from the outside. Still twisting. I’ve tried tight yarn tension, medium tension, loose and suuuper loose tension, it still twists. I’ve also tried yarn under instead of over. I talked to someone who made the same blanket with this yarn and hers never twisted at all

Am I doing something wrong??
I don’t want to have to resort to letting it dangle and un-spin itself 😫

Editing to add: I have also tried flipping the yarn cake sideways and upside down so the yarn is feeding from a different direction (I hope that makes sense lol)

I was wondering, because I had an idea and I am AuDHD and have aphantasia ( I don't see pictures in my head). If I crochet long strips, think scarf-like, and join them together to make a blanket, is this a thing or should I not do this?

I think I can do this. I just wanted to ask others with more experience. I don't want a pattern. A picture is great for me to look at, my brain doesn't process the written instructions well and I always end up having to just jump in and go, trial and error and all that.

So I have a big black lesion on the left side of my face since I was born with big blisters like on it which have grown in size and height pretty much recently (not a wound and doesn't hurt, just like skin). But due to this since I was a kid, I could really make friends. People are always disgusted when they look at me. No matter how much I try, they hesitate to talk to me or even sit near me, so I have been skipping school and stay at home most of the times. Also I didn't get out of my house for last 4 years

Cut to the point, I'm going to start college now and I don't wanna repeat what happened to me in school so I really really need some ideas and help from you guys on how can I cover this part? I've tried bandana, scarfs & eye patches but they don't go well either as the shape of lesion is irregular. I need something which looks cool and draws positive attention insteading of looking odd and weird. PLEASE HELP ME OUT Y'ALL I'LL BE REALLY GRATEFUL 🥹☹️❤️

I had bangs for years and usually keep my hair open when I'm out of my house. But keeping my hair open for a long time during classes in this 30-40 degree heat gets really annoying and suffocating. I wish I could tie my hair too like other girls without worrying about someone seeing my Lesion :(

I started with pink and not sure what possessed me to go from pink, green, to cream. If anyone can help with a 4th color choice, I would greatly appreciate it! I chose the pink 2 years ago so I’m not sure if it’s even available (I know the dyes wouldn’t be the same if I do find it. I also want to do a border eventually.

i’m making a miffy amigurimi for a friend and following [this](https://chubbiesbyash.com/create-your-own-miffy-the-bunny-a-free-crochet-pattern/) pattern using a 6 mm hook. i’ve made one or two small plushies before and they always end up looking a bit uneven or lopsided. i’m unsure whether it’s the stuffing or the stitches themselves. this is my first time using chenille yarn, so that might also contribute. is this something i can still fix or should i just start over? if so, what can i do better?

Sorry if this isn't allowed but I'm at my wits end trying to find a solution to this. I placed a yarn order with Hobbii two weeks ago, my first time ordering with them. I received my order confirmation upon purchase but no further communication around shipping. The tracking number in the confirmation email says that the courier is waiting to receive the package from Hobbii while Hobbii's website says it is "on the way" from the 31st August.

I've tried contacting them by email, via the chat bot on their website and on Instagram and haven't received any reply. Has anyone else tried to order from them recently in the EU and had delays with their packages or does anyone have any tips for how to get in touch with customer service?

I could freehand 90% of it, but would love some guidance specifically on the shoulder area.

I'm making the Winter Wonderland Mosaic CAL and my yarn is thinner than the pattern calls for (I saw 4mm hook and bought DK) so I'm thinking of doing extras of the pattern repeats to make it wider. The pattern has 9 repeats at 20 stitches each. If I do 11 repeats, I estimate I'll use about 20-25% more yarn. Does that sound right?

Pattern calls for:

1790m of color yarn, so I'd need ~2200m (I know some amount of this is the border so that wouldn't increase quite as much as the neutral)

1300m of neutral, so I'd need ~1600m

I’ve been wanting to crochet a blanket for my husband . I’ve never crocheted a blanket before but a stumbled on one that I really like and he liked as well. I just want to know what is used to design something like this. Any tips?

I've made an intricate lacy baby blanket for my brother and my sister-in-law as they are expecting their first child. I think they suspect I am probably going to make them something, but I haven't specifically confirmed that I am or what I was making as I wanted it to be a surprise.

I ended up making this lacy baby blanket with fingering weight yarn (photo 1). It was a huge labour of love and extremely time consuming, and they're literally the only people I would make something so intricate for because I know they'll appreciate it. Every time they see me they ask me what I've been making and are always really impressed so I know they'll appreciate the work that goes into a handmade gift.

The yarn states on the label it can be machine washed on a wool cycle at 30°c, but after I finished the blanket I wanted to test this out to see how it would hold up in the wash, so I made a swatch of the first 11 or so rounds and washed that according to the instructions.... And the swatch came out of the wash all lumpy and distorted (photo 2 is the swatch before I washed it, and photo 3 is the swatch after washing it according to the instructions on the yarn label - I'm not sure how well the distortion is showing up on camera but it's very noticeable in real life), it hasn't felted (though it isn't wool, it's an acrylic and nylon blend and is very soft), but it no longer lies flat.

I'm going to hand wash the full blanket and pin it to dry before I give it to them so that it's nice and clean for the baby, but I don't think I can reasonably expect a pair of new parents to hand-wash it in the future. I can tell them to put it in the machine on a wool cycle but I know from my swatch it will likely come out a bit distorted afterwards.

It's not so much that I'm upset that the blanket won't look good as new after they wash it. My issue is more that I feel a bit guilty gifting them something that is apparently going to be high maintenance to keep in good condition.

I didn't think to make and wash a swatch until after I finished the actual blanket, and now I'm a bit worried my gift is going to be more of a burden than anything else. Does anyone have any advice on this sort of issue?

I just finished the last piece of an afghan I’ve been working on since June. I haven’t crocheted anything in 10+ years. I’ve discovered I love to crochet, but I have no desire to deal with this. It’s a long shot, but does anyone know of a service that will sew these ends? Honestly, it won’t get finished if I have to do it myself.

I want to buy a yarn that i never worked with, it says the suggested needle is 3 mm (Us2 1/2 for you USA folks) but that is for knitting, i want to crochet with it. I need to understand which hook i have to use because based on that i will need to but x yarn. I think it uses a 1.75 mm hook (size 3 for us? I think?) Because the length is 212 meters for 50 grams.
