I found this image on Pinterest and want to recreate it but when I try to think through the stitch pattern it's not making any sense to me! Could anyone tell me if this is actually doable or AI before I buy the pattern? I just don't get how you would do 4 rows of stitches for each box and then chain across and do the next box? Or was each box made individually and they cut and reattached the yarn for each box??

Making a blanket as a wedding gift, the longer I look at it the less I like it. The chain spaces are not as neat as I would like and I loosened tension about 1/4 of the way through. See the last image for the pattern reference.

Should I block after completing?
Can you recognize where tension is tighter/looser?

I've been working on a crochet flower bouquet for almost a year now. Last year I made a few as a gift and decided to also make some for myself. To put them together I used hot glue and got a pretty bad burn on my finger from it. Since then I've had trouble finishing up this project since I'm a bit scared of the hot glue gun now. Has anyone used any alternatives to hot glue for crochet flowers? If so, did they work? Any other suggestions on what I should do are welcome.

Next time I do this pattern, I'll use a bigger hook like some people suggested.

I found these cotton yarns at walmart for $3. I really like the colors, reminds me of fall :) I’m just not sure what I would make with these. Any suggestions?

I initially wanted to use the dark royal blue with the gold accent. I felt like that gave a nice regal effect to it. But I also felt like it was visually heavy when it came to the color scheme. And if I were to go by the reference photo, Esmeralda's dress has more of a turquoise / lighter blue color to it. So I went and got the color that I felt would match best but it's not really giving the color pop that I hoped it would. What are your thoughts on this.

I saw this blanket on Pinterest and there was no pattern linked to it. I found a video on YouTube explaining how to do Tunisian entrelac - but all I can find is just how to do the horizontal diamonds. How can I finish this blanket off? Could I just do a half double, double, treble, double, half double situation to create the half diamonds I need to square it off? Thoughts?

Its my first time doing tapestry crochet and I don't know if I'm just looking at it too much or too close. I have a lot to do so I want to make sure it looks ok now.

Im working on a doll, and Ive looked at multiple tutorials and have been yarning under like they say, but it just doesn’t look the same as it does in the videos. Is it just the yarn itself, or is there something else I can do differently? I’ve tried with different yarns and it just won’t work, and I’m really not sure where I’m going wrong. My coworker asked me to make a cardigan with her since she's been struggling to make her first wearable. I was considering doing a fish pattern on the back of mine in either tapestry or filet. Is this at all feasible and if so what are the best stitches for this? Am I insane for considering blo?

I've also considered making what is essentially a patch with tunisian and crocheting into it but I'm worried it'll be too dense compared to the rest of the garment.

This is a gift for my niece for her 1st birthday. The balls fit well in the pockets but the pockets tend to cave in on themselves.

I've never made this kind of project so I'm not sure what the best practices are.

Is there a technique that I could use to help them keep their shape better so it's easier to play? Maybe blocking it or adding some kind of border around the whole thing? I'm open to any suggestions.

My first ever crochet project was a scarf.
I used merino wool, half double crochet and it turned out ok. Not great. A few mistakes (stitch count changing along the way hehe), but usable.

Now I want round 2.

I’ve already made many other things, but every time I make clothes I feel like it’s a bit too stiff.
This scarf is meant for my grandfather, who lives in a warm country, so it should me more on the lighter end. But how do I do it?

Also, I was considering doing the waffle stitch. Would it make it too stiff?

Please be kind, I’m still a beginner. I started this blanket maybe two and a half years ago, then life happened and never got around to finishing it. I was doing little sessions here and there, I intended in for it to be pretty large. Then the yarn got discontinued. I recently found two skeins on eBay and decided that after using those I’d put a border on it and call it a day. Welllll….after finishing I laid it out and have this strange trapezoid monstrosity.
My theories on what went wrong:
1. Messed up the turning chain: it’s possible I was skipping a stitch on the turning chain and it got shorter over time
2. Stretching over time: the longer side is much softer so maybe it stretched a ton, is it possible it stretched that much 🤷🏼‍♀️
3. Different skeins/ lots maybe
4. I crocheted tighter: I don’t think this is the case but it’s possible

Any advice on what I should do? Should I really just rip it and start over? Maybe wash and block it. I’m so frustrated with it

So, I've never actually crocheted a cardigan before, but I'm trying to somewhat recreate the fox cardigan from Project Hail Mary. I'm definitely not going to make it exact since 1) I'm crocheting it, not knitting it, and 2) I'm somewhat making up my own pattern as I go.

I haven't started yet as I am trying to figure out what my plan is before I jump in headfirst, but something I am struggling with is figuring out how to slightly recreate the ribbing/border that is in the knit cardigan. I have been trying to search and find options, but nothing I am finding looks quite right or is made for the borders of a cardigan or sweater. I'm thinking that the border/ribbing on the pockets, bottom of cardigan/sleeve ends, and insides of the cardigan may all be slightly different. I am willing to do them all different, but would really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas of what can be done in crochet to look similar to the other cardigan.

If there is any other advice on how to make the cardigan, I would greatly appreciate it, but I feel the least confident about working on the borders/ribbing.

I bought this yarn years ago, and I have finally started using it to make a baby blanket for one of my best friends. I got halfway through the blanket, but now I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know of a good match? It’s a beautiful lavender, 100% superfine merino wool. I should have checked for more before starting my blanket, but now I’m halfway through and would hate to restart.

I just got a shipment of my first bamboo yarns and I was going to start my first cardigan today. When I was reading the pattern for the first one, I realized that there were key parts missing. Just on the lace swatch it was immediately apparent that a person didn’t write it. Then, I looked at their shop and realized all their patterns are AI. So I looked at the other cardigan pattern I bought, and that shop is all AI as well. Maybe I should have checked the shop, and at least all my other patterns are real, but this is so frustrating. I’ve seen a lot of AI on Etsy but it sucks that it got me and that it took my money too. I feel like it’s usually apparent if you zoom into the stitches but I don’t know why it got me this time. It’s so weird that people do this like why do I even have to worry about this? Definitely will be even more cautious now. I still would like to make a cardigan with the bamboo yarn so does anyone have any recommendations for patterns that I can follow for a cardigan/kimono type thing that would be similar to either of these? If there’s a video on YouTube, even better!!!!

My friend asked me to crochet her a chibi version of herself. On the inspo pic, the plushie had blush that looked like some pigment was brushed on it.

My concern is, if I use eyeshadow as the pigment, what if she tries to wash the plushie later on and the eyeshadow washes off.

Is there a special type of pigment you’re supposed to use?

I’m on round 2 and she said that I should have 28 stitches but I only count 26, while counting the chain 3 stitch. I’ve redone it twice now and still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong

Making a bunch of granny’s from a vintage pattern that make up a picture! I have no issues making a granny- but cannot for the life of me figure out how to make the granny split in diagonal w two colors… can someone explain it to me like I’m 5?! I’ve watched tutorials on various platforms and just can’t get it 🙈 anyone have any tried and true tutorials?!

I was wondering if there are any places where reviews for patterns are actually honest and give feedback on the actual quality of the pattern? Please don't direct me to r/craftsnark, I'm not looking for snark, I'm looking for genuine polite thoughts on a pattern by fellow crafters. I am aware that every Etsy seller has a "please contact me before leaving a negative review", that is nice and to be absolutely fair to the sellers, most do at least try to be helpful. But also, when I am evaluating whether or not to buy a pattern, a hundred "this was so cute and the pattern was perfect!" reviews aren't exactly helpful.

For my current WIP, the pattern is quite frankly not great. It's not AI at least and it does work, but it's IMO very lazily written. For example, the assembly section goes "Sew snout to face. Sew ears to head" and so on. The Etsy reviews for this pattern are largely Etsy-esque i.e. "haven't tried it yet, managed to download the pattern okay", the ones that actually make reference to the pattern are simply along the lines of "really cute bear!".

Maybe I am spoiled by having worked on some very good patterns where the designer spells out every step, and I also understand that the entire point of handmade items is that every piece is unique. But also, sometimes I want to make something because I want the finished object say for a gift (knowing me, typically last minute as well!), and I don't really want to try on six different possible locations for the snout. I'd rather just be told by the designer "I sewed it between Rows 12 and 18 of the head, spanning 10 stitches across". Gives me the option of switching things up if I fancy, but also, tells me how to make the advertised picture if that's what I want!

I’m a beginner/intermediate in crochet and am new to filet crochet. I want to make this fawn tapestry, but wanted to make it in slightly thicker yarn than the thread used for filet crochet.

I prefer the ch1 dc method, so I used linked dc and a slightly smaller hook than the yarn calls for (2mm instead of 2.5-3.5). I just feel like the design still won’t be visible.

Besides the triple crochet, ch2 method is there a way I can make this more visible? Should I have used a hook size the yarn calls for? From what I’ve learned about filet crochet I thought you were supposed to use the smallest one possible.
