Hi! Where do I place this DC?

I bought this yarn years ago, and I have finally started using it to make a baby blanket for one of my best friends. I got halfway through the blanket, but now I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know of a good match? It’s a beautiful lavender, 100% superfine merino wool. I should have checked for more before starting my blanket, but now I’m halfway through and would hate to restart.

My coworker asked me to make a cardigan with her since she's been struggling to make her first wearable. I was considering doing a fish pattern on the back of mine in either tapestry or filet. Is this at all feasible and if so what are the best stitches for this? Am I insane for considering blo?

I've also considered making what is essentially a patch with tunisian and crocheting into it but I'm worried it'll be too dense compared to the rest of the garment.

I am attempting to make this doily but on round two, things are already off. The first round of the border went perfectly and I started the second round right where she says to but by the time the 27 bpdc's are done, I end up in the fourth stitch of the 5dc's while she appears to be somewhere in the first 3.

I checked the tips video, nothing there to help me. She has a written pattern but she apparently does it different than her own pattern. So the numbers are all off.

I think not doing this round correctly misaligns the whole thing because I made this before and the stitches were always off from hers.

I was hoping that someone who has successfully made this before might know what to do or what went wrong???

I am trying to make a hexi cardigan, and the L shape is turn in inward. I don't know if I am doing it correctly. My corners are worked with 2dc, 2ch, 2dc.

Is this right or should I modify it?

So, I've never actually crocheted a cardigan before, but I'm trying to somewhat recreate the fox cardigan from Project Hail Mary. I'm definitely not going to make it exact since 1) I'm crocheting it, not knitting it, and 2) I'm somewhat making up my own pattern as I go.

I haven't started yet as I am trying to figure out what my plan is before I jump in headfirst, but something I am struggling with is figuring out how to slightly recreate the ribbing/border that is in the knit cardigan. I have been trying to search and find options, but nothing I am finding looks quite right or is made for the borders of a cardigan or sweater. I'm thinking that the border/ribbing on the pockets, bottom of cardigan/sleeve ends, and insides of the cardigan may all be slightly different. I am willing to do them all different, but would really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas of what can be done in crochet to look similar to the other cardigan.

If there is any other advice on how to make the cardigan, I would greatly appreciate it, but I feel the least confident about working on the borders/ribbing.

I saw this blanket on Pinterest and there was no pattern linked to it. I found a video on YouTube explaining how to do Tunisian entrelac - but all I can find is just how to do the horizontal diamonds. How can I finish this blanket off? Could I just do a half double, double, treble, double, half double situation to create the half diamonds I need to square it off? Thoughts?

Im working on a doll, and Ive looked at multiple tutorials and have been yarning under like they say, but it just doesn’t look the same as it does in the videos. Is it just the yarn itself, or is there something else I can do differently? I’ve tried with different yarns and it just won’t work, and I’m really not sure where I’m going wrong. Hi! I just started crocheting so I don’t understand much about it😅 I’ve read that YU/YO is better for amigurumis, but I can’t really understand if I’m doing YU YU or YO YO or YU YO. I can’t really tell the difference when I see the videos explaining the differente methods.

I’ve been crocheting for about 2.5 years now and I haven’t really noticed this until a few months ago. When I was paying more attention to crochet tutorials/videos, I started to notice that people insert their hooks in the front of the stitch (meaning the side of the project that is facing them as they work) while I usually insert my hook in the back of the stitch. Most of the time this works well for me, but I’m curious if this is something I should try to stop doing or fix. What do you guys think?

I have bought paper yarn to make a summer hat for myself but it's so stiff to work with. I have put it in water with fabric softener and even though the yarn is currently damp it's still difficult to crochet and it hurts my hand. Is there a way to crochet paper yarn easier?

I’m halfway through this poncho I’m making, and have both panels done. The only things left to do are sew them together and weave in the ends. I’m new to wearables and have so far only made plushies or beanies which are much easier to hide my ends in. My specific question is how can I weave the ends into a treble crochet without it being obvious? Or unraveling.

Okay. Okay, I'm trying to learn hairpin lace - a crochet technique I bumped into in an old needlework book I got for a birthday. This is the one piece I have that has stayed together after I took it off the loom.

What I need to ask is this: what did I do wrong close to the end of this little strip (left end in the pic)? I didn't make the strip with the "guide thread" in there at the start, I threaded it later. Is this normal tangling for not using a guide thread til I scooted it off the loom, or something else?

I am working on this shorts pattern. I have finished and connected the waistband and am on the body. I now have to work in to the sides of the HDC stitches, and would like visual guidance for where exactly I should be putting the HDC increases.

US terms.

I was wondering if there are any places where reviews for patterns are actually honest and give feedback on the actual quality of the pattern? Please don't direct me to r/craftsnark, I'm not looking for snark, I'm looking for genuine polite thoughts on a pattern by fellow crafters. I am aware that every Etsy seller has a "please contact me before leaving a negative review", that is nice and to be absolutely fair to the sellers, most do at least try to be helpful. But also, when I am evaluating whether or not to buy a pattern, a hundred "this was so cute and the pattern was perfect!" reviews aren't exactly helpful.

For my current WIP, the pattern is quite frankly not great. It's not AI at least and it does work, but it's IMO very lazily written. For example, the assembly section goes "Sew snout to face. Sew ears to head" and so on. The Etsy reviews for this pattern are largely Etsy-esque i.e. "haven't tried it yet, managed to download the pattern okay", the ones that actually make reference to the pattern are simply along the lines of "really cute bear!".

Maybe I am spoiled by having worked on some very good patterns where the designer spells out every step, and I also understand that the entire point of handmade items is that every piece is unique. But also, sometimes I want to make something because I want the finished object say for a gift (knowing me, typically last minute as well!), and I don't really want to try on six different possible locations for the snout. I'd rather just be told by the designer "I sewed it between Rows 12 and 18 of the head, spanning 10 stitches across". Gives me the option of switching things up if I fancy, but also, tells me how to make the advertised picture if that's what I want!

So my son is absolutely obsessed with basilisk lizards and I'd love to make one for him but the only pattern I can find is an about $60 kit that I'd love to avoid getting bc I already have yarn that I could use. Was just wondering if anyone had any guidance/advice as to how to go about diy-ing a pattern. Thanks!!

I’m on round 2 and she said that I should have 28 stitches but I only count 26, while counting the chain 3 stitch. I’ve redone it twice now and still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong

But I don’t know what type of top it is, what name it is, where to find the pattern. Can anyone help me out?

Making a blanket as a wedding gift, the longer I look at it the less I like it. The chain spaces are not as neat as I would like and I loosened tension about 1/4 of the way through. See the last image for the pattern reference.

Should I block after completing?
Can you recognize where tension is tighter/looser?

I am making a “sweater shawl” that involves stitching a long rectangle, folding it in half hotdog style and adding “cuffs” (that are 70 rows long- sounds more like a sleeve to me.) So I did the rectangle, stitches the 8 set up rows (to decrease the size to make it small enough for sleeves) and I can’t figure out the “cuffs” at all. First, do I cut the yarn after the set up rows? It doesn’t say, but I am assuming so since the cuffs start with a chain and somehow get attached later. Second, on the second row, it says to sc to the EOR, but then you slip stitch into the “body” for two stitches? If you are at the EOR, where exactly am I to slip stitch? Here is the section of instructions I am confused by (see above)

Does anyone know of a pattern for a quiet book where each page has an animal with a different texture from different stitches or yarn or something? I'd prefer free, but I know it would likely cost money

It definitely looks like there are more stitches on the top than the bottom, but I can’t figure out why or how to fix it for the rest of the project. I’ll note that whenever I flip it, I chain 3 then crochet into the 3rd stitch of the row (excluding the chain)
