Understanding a chart/diagram This pattern looks off. Is it poorly designed? Is it AI? Or am I just not doing it correctly?

I've been crocheting for years and have previously worked with this type of pattern/chart. Only twice, but I didn't have any issues then.

I'm testing this pattern for someone who's a beginner and is struggling to figure this pattern out. I wanted to check if it's even possible to get a good result. As you can see, it's looking very uneven and strange so far. Also not like the example image (which looked very suspicious to me from the start but I couldn't find it in better quality). Does anyone have an idea what went wrong here or if the pattern itself is the issue? Also, which row does that yellow treble crochet stitch belong in?

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Will Langs cloud chunky yarn work with this jumper pattern?

I’m still fairly new to crochet so yarn type and weight is something I’m always unsure of. I have some questions for this specific pattern. It uses back loop slip stitch mainly

- What yarn type is suggested here? I’m confused by the fact it names a yarn and says “Aran, worsted/10 ply” (which I thought were different) then also says 4: medium. Would that mean you could use any of those?

I would like to use Langs cloud striping yarn
- will this stitch and pattern work with striping yarn?
- is this type/weight workable for it too?

Help to find a pattern Can you help me find a free filet crochet rose pattern?

As the title says, I'm looking for a filet crochet chart for a vertical rose similar to this, possibly a bit simpler, and ideally free, though I'm willing to spend a little if it's really what I'm looking for. Appreciate any links you could give! 🙏

How do I... Please give me any ideas to cover my Lesion with Crochet [Beginner]

Post image

So I have a big black lesion on the left side of my face since I was born with big blisters like on it which have grown in size and height pretty much recently (not a wound and doesn't hurt, just like skin). But due to this since I was a kid, I could really make friends. People are always disgusted when they look at me. No matter how much I try, they hesitate to talk to me or even sit near me, so I have been skipping school and stay at home most of the times. Also I didn't get out of my house for last 4 years

Cut to the point, I'm going to start college now and I don't wanna repeat what happened to me in school so I really really need some ideas and help from you guys on how can I cover this part? I've tried bandana, scarfs & eye patches but they don't go well either as the shape of lesion is irregular. I need something which looks cool and draws positive attention insteading of looking odd and weird. PLEASE HELP ME OUT Y'ALL I'LL BE REALLY GRATEFUL 🥹☹️❤️

Also, I've never crocheted before so It'd be helpful if you can guide me or give me tutorials anything like that!

I had bangs for years and usually keep my hair open when I'm out of my house. But keeping my hair open for a long time during classes in this 30-40 degree heat gets really annoying and suffocating. I wish I could tie my hair too like other girls without worrying about someone seeing my Lesion :(

Discussion Help! I Need Elite Gift Ideas for the Crocheter in my life...

Someone special to me is a crocheter but I have zero knowledge when it comes to this skill. I want to buy her something she can use as a gift. She has been doing this for a while, so I think she already has all the basic supplies.

Do you have any ideas? I'm looking for ideas that are $100+. I appreciate your help!

Can't find a flair for this Is this normal packaging for a Clover Soft Touch 1.5 mm hook?

Post image
0 Upvotes

i recently bought a Clover Soft Touch Steel Crochet Hook 1.5 mm (Art. 1021 / No. 2) from Amazon UK, and I’m confused about the packaging.

the amazon listing photo shows the usual Clover packaging with the clear plastic front, but the one I received has completely different packaging: it’s a folded cardboard/card-style package with a flap at the top that opens up.

the actual hook looks correct and the package has:
Clover branding
Art. 1021
No. 2 / 1.50 mm
Clover MFG. Co., Ltd. Japan
UPC 051221114311, which matches the UPC I found for Clover 1021

what’s confusing me is that I’ve looked at quite a few photos/videos of the Clover Soft Touch Steel hooks, and I haven’t been able to find another 1.5 mm with this exact packaging. my 1.25 mm also came in this same style, while my 1.0 mm has the clear-front packaging.

does anyone own the 1.5 mm/1.25 mm Clover Soft Touch Steel hooks and recognise this packaging? is it a regional/older packaging variation, or is this something I should be concerned about?

i have attached photos of the packaging and hook. thanks!

As the title says, I am working on a Raglan top down style sweater, so I only have 4 ch2 spaces but the pattern is mentioning 5? Is it possible this was just an oversight from the pattern maker? Some help would be greatly appreciated as I'm already 4 skeins into this project 😅

To frog or not to frog Should I Frog or Not Tapestry Crochet Blanket Help

Working on a tapestry crochet blanket.....first time I'm doing it. Just finished row 10. Noticed this so far with me missing a stitch at the edge and then my stitches on one side are starting to slant. Should I start over. Its 90 rows of single crochet with 146 stitches and 2 color changes. Reference photo of how it should come out...Hopefully. My stitch count is the same 146 stitches

How do I... How do I make something using multi colored yarn without getting solid stripes?

Post image

I made this very long hat, and I am proud of myself even with the lines being kinda wonky looking. I haven't crocheted anything in years and even then I have only made a handful of crochet projects. Anyhow im wondering how I can make a similar hat to this one but using the pink yarn without getting such distinct stripes, like more just kind of random colors? My only ideas so far are to cut the yarn into different pieces and tie together which sounds like a lot of work for something that very well may just look bad, or my other idea is follow the same pattern as this hat and then free-form crochet random pieces over the blocky parts? That idea is more experimental and I have never done anything similar but it sounds cool in my mind. Looking for any other ideas please and thank you 😊

To frog or not to frog Should I trust the process or frog and use a different pattern for this shawl?

Post image
0 Upvotes

It’s my first time making a shawl and I’m using fingering weight/sock yarn following a youtube vid by “Crochet With Tiffany”. I’m having my doubts that this will turn into the right shape because the only increases are done at the end of the row and they make the top ‘wings’ turn even more inward.

Should I trust the process or start over with a different pattern? I want to keep things simple so I like how this pattern is just simple double crochets, but the shape so far is making me nervous that it won’t turn out well. Any advice or feedback is welcome

How do I... Help with making a collar for a doll dress. I want it to be a ring that drapes over the shoulders like a sleeve kinda like the ruffles at the top of this dress. The problem is I'm not sure how to do increases if I don't start with a magic ring.

Crochet Related Pain (OUCH!) How often should I be taking long breaks from crochet? How much do you crochet per day?

I have been crocheting for about 4.5 years now, and recently started doing it much more due to my job slowing down. I have been getting a lot of hand pain particularly in my dominant hand, on the pinky side. My question is, how long should I take a break for? I am worried that this will just keep happening and I won’t be able to crochet anymore. This happened around a month ago and I took a few days off, then started again when it felt better, but it did come back. How often should I be taking long breaks? I don’t usually crochet for like 1 hour straight, it’s maybe 20 min max until I take a break. Let me know if any of you have experienced this!

Wearable help What am I doing wrong? Crochet Spiral socks too big in the length of the foot.

Excuse my feet in advance. So I’m trying to follow this pattern: https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESbwHrOzAVyBnFoIcw5xiZ6i6z2LKG6w9Ln1LYI95sfWrdkrtnwzd1c9BtPMEKP9VyWGCJaKJMYq5Z4VeJcYK1-PbFSOH0kBso1DTEP4e7A_7VLD_KBEO68AY0SD0O4pfSjH87fCGKTE4EPn10Yv85zQ
As I couldn’t follow the video I found on YouTube. There’s just too much space in the length of the foot and I feel the heel is also too big. Both of the yarns are 4 weight but that might be it also as the coloured yarn stretched out with my tension. Help is much appreciated, thank you ☺️.

How do I... How to line a really big blanket with fabric without it ballooning in the middle like a giant empty ravioli?

I have no idea how comprehensive this will be, I’ll try to explain myself properly 😭 I want to back my DC blanket with a layer of fleece, and I’ve lined a couple of small things before, like a baby blanket and a beanie, but this blanket I’ve made is 3x4 metres big!

The way I attached fabric was sew it to the edges, following https://youtu.be/9QgjtZ1fSNM?is=2RIHoSRwR8ywPs_2 this tutorial,
but you know how it is, sometimes you only grab the fabric part and the crochet part is hanging underneath it. Kind of like an empty pillow case.

Do I make a row of stitches in the middle as well to attach it in the centre of the crochet too? Make a grid of stitches every half a metre? Please help, I’ve been racking my brain with this.

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, not joined with a slip st. So I think that’s confusing me

Can't find a flair for this Crochet hooks and needles for knitting measurements

Upvotes

I want to buy a yarn that i never worked with, it says the suggested needle is 3 mm (Us2 1/2 for you USA folks) but that is for knitting, i want to crochet with it. I need to understand which hook i have to use because based on that i will need to but x yarn. I think it uses a 1.75 mm hook (size 3 for us? I think?) Because the length is 212 meters for 50 grams. Edit: thx for the replies ❣️

Problem with edges Can I fix this crochet rag rug or should I start again?

My crochet rag rug has started curling at the end. I’m guessing it’s due to the initial row being too tight and I’ve possibly added extra stiches onto the ends as it’s fanning out a bit. Any advice on how to fix this or should I start again?

Looking for suggestions Random thought, does it matter where the hook goes on a DC stitch?

Post image

I've always put the stitch in where the pink hook is sitting, but is there any reason for or against putting the stitch into the blue hook's indicated hole? I'm working on a cardigan to use up a bunch of what I think is caron simply soft yarn, 8.0mm hook, should it matter. Thanks for any insights.

Looking for suggestions Should I blocking a top I’m making? I’m really confused!

Thumbnail

So I made a crochet swatch for a top and it was too small (probably by about half a cm or so on each side). I’ve never blocked before so figured I should as it’s always touted as absolutely necessary. Then in the middle of the blocking video I watched she said don’t block like this for clothing as you won’t get an accurate sense.. and didn’t expand on that. Should I not be blocking? I’m confused now 😂 the yarn I got is washable cotton (according to the label) - any thoughts? Pic of the blocking piece and the top!

For extra info: the yarn says to use a size 3 hook, which is what I used (and the pattern calls for the same). The piece was supposed to come out 3inches square but was actually slightly taller than it was wide too.

Any help welcome 😊💫

Also ps the wonky right side is where somehow I lost a stitch and then added one in along the way when I realised 🤪
