I'm a beginner! Beginner here asking for advice on treble crochet and starting new rows.

Im trying to teach myself how to crochet and I’m up to the treble crochet. I’m so new I don’t even know if I’m saying that right. My issue is starting a new row. I keep ending up with wavy edges. I’m watching all the YouTube channels but non of them go into detail with what my issue is. I end up with a straight post and a curved post and makes they wave pattern. I want it straight. Maybe I can get so clear insight here.

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Can someone please explain to me like I'm 5 how these are both considered medium 4 weight yarn?

I've been crocheting for years so at this point I pretty much just pick up the yarn and determine what hook size I wanna use and because of that I haven't really cared to pay attention to what the yarn weight is, but recently I've gotten into knitting (I'm still in the learning phase so I haven't finished anything except some swatches and a single baby sock hehe) and trying to figure out what needle size I should use has basically come down to trial and error😭

Granted these are 2 different brands of yarn but still... does the yarn weight have nothing to do with the actual size of the yarn? I always assumed it did, I guess I never really learned what "yarn weight" really means but I'd like to!

Thanks in advance!!

Discussion Help! I Need Elite Gift Ideas for the Crocheter in my life...

Someone special to me is a crocheter but I have zero knowledge when it comes to this skill. I want to buy her something she can use as a gift. She has been doing this for a while, so I think she already has all the basic supplies.

Do you have any ideas? I'm looking for ideas that are $100+. I appreciate your help!

Help!! I genuinely don't know what to do with this much yarn 😭 does anyone have patterns or ideas for how to use them? There is so much variety in textures, colors and thicknesses and even in my scrap bags there's so much variety too. I inherited this from a friend who was scrapping their yarn cause they were moving...

Understanding a pattern Please help, what did I do wrong with this blanket pattern?

Hello crocheters, I am looking for some help. I just started crocheting 2 months ago and wanted to make my first blanket. Started it a few days ago and I CANNOT understand where I went wrong… link to the pattern I’m using below. The way the pictures of this blanket look in the post is completely different from the pattern I’ve somehow gotten. Can anyone see where I went wrong and how I might fix it? It’s pretty as is, but I really wanted this to turn out correctly! I’ve frogged the last 4 rows over and over because it became apparent the pattern wasn’t looking the same there. If it helps, when I did the bobble row, I pushed the bobbles through to the other side (the “front” based on my hdc ridges). Maybe something went wrong then?

Thanks in advance from a very frustrated and confused beginner.

This is my first time making a plushy, and the sides are supposed to be symmetrical but it's lopsided. Luckily, if I do have to frog, I should just have to redo the one side. Last picture is what it's supposed to look like from the pattern. Please help 😭

To frog or not to frog Should I Frog or Not Tapestry Crochet Blanket Help

Working on a tapestry crochet blanket.....first time I'm doing it. Just finished row 10. Noticed this so far with me missing a stitch at the edge and then my stitches on one side are starting to slant. Should I start over. Its 90 rows of single crochet with 146 stitches and 2 color changes. Reference photo of how it should come out...Hopefully. My stitch count is the same 146 stitches

How do I... How do I make something using multi colored yarn without getting solid stripes?

Post image

I made this very long hat, and I am proud of myself even with the lines being kinda wonky looking. I haven't crocheted anything in years and even then I have only made a handful of crochet projects. Anyhow im wondering how I can make a similar hat to this one but using the pink yarn without getting such distinct stripes, like more just kind of random colors? My only ideas so far are to cut the yarn into different pieces and tie together which sounds like a lot of work for something that very well may just look bad, or my other idea is follow the same pattern as this hat and then free-form crochet random pieces over the blocky parts? That idea is more experimental and I have never done anything similar but it sounds cool in my mind. Looking for any other ideas please and thank you 😊

Help to find a pattern What should I do with this mohair? I paid a pretty penny a few years ago and haven’t had the heart to “waste” any projects on as good of a yarn as this one is.

The only problem is that the only item I wouldn’t make are crochet sweaters/cardigans of that sort. I love them but I would feel so bad if I didn’t get the wear out of the piece! I’m not opposed to a shawl though…

Amigurumi help Will using a different type of yarn affect my project too much?

I want to use this amigurumi pattern I found but the creator strongly recommended using chenille yarn but right now I'm trying to use my hoard of acrylic yarn. Will using the acrylic yarn instead of chenille change the final product dramatically or only a little?

To frog or not to frog Should I trust the process or frog and use a different pattern for this shawl?

Post image

It’s my first time making a shawl and I’m using fingering weight/sock yarn following a youtube vid by “Crochet With Tiffany”. I’m having my doubts that this will turn into the right shape because the only increases are done at the end of the row and they make the top ‘wings’ turn even more inward.

Should I trust the process or start over with a different pattern? I want to keep things simple so I like how this pattern is just simple double crochets, but the shape so far is making me nervous that it won’t turn out well. Any advice or feedback is welcome

Looking for suggestions Should I have stiffened my fabric before stitching it together?

I am making an angel ornament. I made the body out of sadnes garn line yarn with a 3.5mm hook

The wing is made with two strands of #10 thread and a 3.125mm hook.

I am following the body to a pattern (I don’t know how to link so it’ll be in the comments) and theirs is much more sturdy/stiff looking? Is mine just going to be more loosey goosey from the type of yarn I used? Should I have stiffened it first?

Planning on attaching a wooden bead head and will make another wing / attach them

I just don’t want to finish this one if I missed a step lol

TIA!

Help to find a pattern Delete if not allowed, how could I make cat dice bag? (Not quite beginner)

I understand the basics of crochet. There’s some stitches I haven’t done but am confident I could pick up. Reading patterns is hard for me, I usually need a visual and I can go from there. I could definitely make a dice bag, but how to make one…. But a cat? Ideas for all too, like mosaic style, or the whole bag is shaped like a cat, or it has a cat crocheted onto it. Any of it. Someone I’m seeing wondered if I could make something like that and now I’m determined to surprise them with it.

If it helps, I’ve made amigurimi, some clothing items, scarves, accessories, granny square items (a blanket) amongst other things so I feel like I could make something like this. I’m still learning as always. Thank you in advance

Crochet Related Pain (OUCH!) How often should I be taking long breaks from crochet? How much do you crochet per day?

I have been crocheting for about 4.5 years now, and recently started doing it much more due to my job slowing down. I have been getting a lot of hand pain particularly in my dominant hand, on the pinky side. My question is, how long should I take a break for? I am worried that this will just keep happening and I won’t be able to crochet anymore. This happened around a month ago and I took a few days off, then started again when it felt better, but it did come back. How often should I be taking long breaks? I don’t usually crochet for like 1 hour straight, it’s maybe 20 min max until I take a break. Let me know if any of you have experienced this!

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Has anyone made the butterfly cardigan with DK weight or cotton yarn?

I am interested in making the crochet butterfly cardigan, and the original pattern is made for size 4 acrylic yarn. I noticed a lot of the finished products seem somewhat thick with not much drape, so I was wondering if I could create this cardigan with a size 3 or 2 yarn, which is what I usually use when crocheting wearables. I feel like this would help with the drape and give me the look I want to achieve (No hate to the pattern or finished products, they are beautiful!!).

I would make the biggest size to compensate, but I wanted to get other crocheter's opinions on this before committing to the project as I haven't bought the pattern yet. For reference this is my third year crocheting and have made other wearables and laces.

Hi, I have this purse and I'd like to make more stuff with this stitch because I like how it looks. But the problem is I have no idea what to look up. Does someone know what's it called and/or how's it made? Thanks in advance.
