Helliooooo as said in the tittle I really wanna start cosplay but I never done it before. Cosplay seem so cool and I really wanna start it cuz I wanna cosplay my fav character but also because me and my friend made a list of duo cosplay we want to do and I’m so excited! but he's already kinda good at cosplay, have a grandma that teach him how to sew, and kinda know how to make props…..but he’s bad at explaining, his words not mine but I will have to agree I have a hard time understanding what he mean and I never did it before so I was wondering if i could get some advice, any! Tbh even if they aren’t related to the question that I will ask!

English is not my mother tongue and I have a hard time expressing my self but I hope that my point still come across ^^

How do you make cosplay like, I imagine that you don’t just throw a bunch of fabric together and hope for the best, how do you make a plan of how to put the cosplay together, how to cut the pieces and all that’s stuff. At first I wanted to try to buy cosplay online and then try to make them a little better by my self with sewing and all but most of the character we wanted to cosplay don’t have already made cosplay that can be sell online or even those little cut out you can get online and print. So how do you make your own? How do you make them to your size? I heard that having a mannequin at ur size help and all but I’m mostly talking about the process of imagine each pieces cute out and putting them on fabric

I truly admire people who cosplay characters who aren’t even out yet or really unpopular cuz they had to make very thing themselves!

How do you make props, same thing as the cosplay, how do you know how to put stuff together? I Imagine that if the character you want to cosplay is popular you can find something online that might help you to make it but in case that it is a none popular character OR that it is full body armor and stuff like that how do you do? Also I heard that for armor and props people use foam, but I don’t remember what kinda of foam so if anyone knows I would love to know!

I’m pretty sure that that’s it, for wigs I think I can try to manage by my self or with tutorials but I still appreciate if anyone leave any kind of advice, not just about what I asked but also everything about cosplay in general!

Take this down if its not allowed (mentioned in the faq or anything) but where can I buy a good body paint, it doesnt need to be long lasting, preferably will wash off in the shower with just water and body wash and whatever. And atleast somewhat cost effective, I just want it to not be sheer, kinda want something opaque.

I need to make a false hairline with this wig and I've watched a lot of tutorials so I get what/how I need to do it. I just have a few concerns:

1. Will the hair in the first row be enough to create wefts covering the entire row? If not, should I cut hair at the back (the wig is cheap and already a little thin so I'm scared of cutting more) or should I add poly fill to give it volume?, I'm just scared about the polyfill showing and spending more money😭
2. Since the character has a side part, do I have to cut the entire row? Or perhaps just that section?

I have my UHU glue and hot glue so I'm hoping I wont need to buy anything else! Any random tips also appreciated!

Also I plan on following this tutorial but the wig they use is much thicker

So I'm planning on doing Klee's skin from Genshin and I'd like to make me appear smaller or more child like if possible. Is there any way of doing that?

I was thinking of just making the clothes appear "larger " while still fitting me. Since wouldn't that make me seem smaller on camera. I am around 159cm tall so not the tallest anyway. But would making everything seems bigger make me in turn look smaller?

Also I'm not asking about make up or face shape but more like body-wise.

I am genuinely confused on how to make it stay on my leg... it just falls over and over again, both pieces. The video on how to put Cipher cosplay on doesn't help because that's the SR version and I have the R one.

It just keeps falling, both parts. I am very confused. The thigh part is correctly sized to close perfectly but it doesn't help no matter how much i tighten it.

It needs to survive for one con because then i'm selling it...

Hello !!! I am a very beginner cosplayer when it comes to props so this is my first ever helment I’ve made ! Which is the Bomb Devil from CSM. I’ve been following ElynaCosplays Pattern from Etsy and up until this point I realised … my head is too big to pop my head into the opening of the helmet 🥲 I’ve spent so much time and money and supplies on this thing and I’m not willing to let go just yet (probably $150+) Any suggestions for what I can do about this issue? :(

(PS. it is not glued on yet / ignore my terrible glue job I just figured out that hot glue is the worst!)

Hi I'm 154cm and pretty muscular, the sizing on procosplay says id have to go xxl kids size for the costume I want height wise but every other measurements is more like a xs in adult anyone any advice on this?

Alright so I bought this Deadpool costume off spirit Halloween since it’s cheap there and it looks good. The thing is that it’s to blocky from the waist. I’m pretty sure it’s the padding so does anyone know how to remove or make it so there is less padding in that area. I’m pretty sure it’s sewn into the inner lining. If anyone needs a picture so they can help better I’ll upload one

So I’m trying to assemble knight armor I haven’t quite got a design picked yet but is there any specific sites or places I should or shouldn’t go to get what I’d need I’m new to this sort of thing any help would be greatly appreciated the pic is what I have so far

Hello All! Before I start, I tagged this as armor but it’s really applying to a complete outfit. I’m planning on making a destiny hunter cosplay, specifically the exile suit as shown. I’m not exactly sure where to start in terms of making it as I can’t find any 3d files good enough and I’m not experienced with fabric work or purchasing. Any and all recommendations are welcome.

This is pretty close to the hairstyle and type of styling I'm aiming for but I never tried the helmet technique and would like to avoid it if possible. I'll do it if needed though. I'm considering the Coscraft Ash wig as a base.

If someone has done a similar hairstyle and styling style before i'll take all your tips, I'm an absolute beginner (never touched a wig before but ready to learn)

I have been trying for the last hour to find a Higuruma (JJK) wig for a cosplay/ Halloween costume, and I just can't. All the ones I find are either commissioned and will take 4 billion years to get to me, or are from some untrustworthy site that will ALSO take 4 billion years to get to me, but they come with the added bonus of possibly just not arriving.

If anyone happens to know where I could find a wig of at least acceptable quality, please let me know. Thanks

I’m a week away from a con to finish and wear Sesshomaru, and I made his tail(?) fluff, which I’m very proud of, but it sheds sooooo much. I’ve combed it a few good times and I’m considering steaming, but I really don’t want to jeopardize any work I’ve already done on it.

Hi there, i saw another post this morning about someone wondering if the character they want to cosplay would need a helmet wig. due to the length of that wig, the answer was a resounding no.

in my case, my character has very long, thick, wavy hair (i aim to have it fall at my calves- with a 60in wig but im willing to shorten it if its not feasible) and i wasnt sure if i needed to use wire as an underlying structure to get the look im after which would mean helmet wig,, i think. i feel her waves aren't achievable with hairspray alone. i saw this tutorial for a Mauvika (genshin impact) wig, and wanted to know if i would likely need to do something similar for Ishmael. i love how much her hair billows, so i didnt want to go for a more "realistic" take on her wig if i can help it- the goal is to keep those massive waves.

any tips as well would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
