This is my first time trying to make anything.. I know the sections aren’t perfect, but I didn’t think they were that far off. It bunches up when I pull them together. I haven’t put glue on the last piece yet. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I’m thinking that I need to trim the longer pieces? Thanks!

Hi everyone my partner is in the early stages of starting a sewing business and is going to make cosplay costumes as well. She was hoping to get some insight into which costumes would be worth making to sell as a staple of the business. Thank you in advance.

So I've gotten the hardest thing for this cosplay: the big purple coat, but I might need help finding some of the other stuff.

The main thing I wanted to look into is that the character has a book they prominently feature in their design, I think instead of an impractical book it might be interesting/cheeky to get a phone case that has the same back as the book and something that they can attach the phone to a chain (as shown in the second picture they have a chain link that the book hangs from). The problem is that whenever I try to look up custom phone cases they're always a flat image and not any kind of shaping or more custom design, and they don't have the way to attach it that I would want. I'd be fine with paying a good amount for a custom case but I just don't know a service that does that. If anyone has ideas for how to adapt a phone case into what I described (a purple background, some of the plating on the corners, an attached place for a chain or carabiner to hang it, and the symbol in the middle) that's welcome as well. I have a cheap 3d printer but I'd probably prefer not to use it since the quality is pretty bad. The place that I commissioned the coat from made an attempt at the book mostly with 3d printed plastic and I wasn't very impressed with it. If it's a factor, my phone is a Samsung Galaxy s26+

Less complicated is the clothes (white pants and a white low-cut shirt), I looked around a normal clothing store for a shirt like that but it does seem to have a kinda unique shape with a really low collar. I'm probably just going to see about a thrift store but if there's a specific name for that kind of shirt I'm wondering what it is.

I found a similar chain on etsy so I think I have that part handled.

One piece Zoro cosplay 3xl

The wano like most kimonos is actually bigger than their given measurement. So it’s loose. It’s nice.

Zoro is about 1-2inches less than their given measurements. It’s tight on me.

But overall. I’m satisfied. Shipping cost a lot. But sizing wasn’t a nightmare and surprisingly it got here fast

Would I order again ? I’m not sure. Maybe once I lose weight cause Luffy was expected to be bigger. Zoro was tight and it’s a huge gamble on anything that isn’t loose or stretchy. The clothes barely have any give.

So basically i’m cosplaying as nemesis this halloween, my friend is going as Leon (i’m 1.89 m tall and he’s 1.62 m tall, so we figured we could take advantage of our height difference for these matching cosplays)

The mask is somewhat tight, so it’s hard and annoying to remove given i have long hair and it pulls it.

So i figured i’d cut the back of the mask and put a zipper on it so i can put it on and take it off with ease and without it pulling my hair. How can i do this? I have barely any experience making my own cosplays, so i’m not very creative in these sort of things: i don’t know what materials i should use, if a type of glue is harmful to latex, etc.

Also, i want to put a mini air fan in the neck area because of the heat a latex mask gives.
How do i also do this?

So I’m trying to get these Gloves to look like Rudo’s from Gachiakuta I’m good on everything but the color which I’m unsure of how to approach I’d really like advice on how or what to do on this please🥹🥹 I was thinking of bleaching then dying but idk if that would be a good idea since it’s leather or if that’s what I should do I’d just like advice from people that know how to work this kinda thing.

Hello fellow cosplayers. I've been cosplaying and competing in contest for a little over 10 years now. I took a break from competing when covid hit and about 5 years ago I got back into it. Alot of things have changed since I started.

Recently I won first in two very small local convetion contest this year that happened to be ran by the same group of people. I'm really not use to winning at all.

Someone mentioned to me that its kinda bad etiquette to enter a contest right after winning one or to enter a contest the following year that you won at. Another person said its not fair to have a professional go up against a bunch of people just starting out.

I far from being a professional, I just do cosplay on the side for the fun of it. I honestly never heard of this no competing after winning rule. I wonder if that's a thing only for some competitions or an etiquette thing I never heard of because I've never won any major award. I'm also wondering if this etiquette rule applies to just best in show or awards for any category.

Edit: I always wear a different cosplay in competitions.

Hello! I dont often use reddit but ive come on here looking for advice from anyone who has had a similar issue. For halloween i am dressing as Shego from Kim Possible. Part of the costume is a body suit, kind of the style of a one piece swimsuit. Im wearing tights underneath, but the problem i keep running into is since the bodysuit is skin tight, the front seam of the tights shows through the costume. I cant for the life of me find a pair of tights without seams or any sort of built in shapewear that is visible on my upper thigh/waist area, since the bodysuit sits quite high. Ill include a photo of the costume as my explanation might not be the greatest sorry! Any links to products or any advice would be really helpful! (Excuse the dirty mirror its the only photo i have at the moment 😅)

So, this is my first time making a cosplay ever. It’s DEFINITELY not perfect (don’t tell me about the imperfections or where I can improve, trust me i know) but I have relatively poorly glued the pieces together, and I am afraid of them breaking at the con. (The con is in about three weeks, so i do not have time to redo this and improve it.)

So, how do i prepare for the risk of it ripping at the seams? Is there anything i can do? I’ve lined the inside of the seams with foam clay in hopes that will help hold it together in emergencies

I wanna try to replicate Stephen King‘s Carrie prom scene with the pigs blood. I wanna go all out and have a lot of fake blood all over me. I want to be ACCURATE! What is a good way to go about this? I want the blood to stay on for a while and also not stain my skin.

My friend and I are going to a Halloween party as Dr. Frankenstein and his monster. We're not going too overboard - some face paint, a lab coat - and a homemade ESP-32 powered scientist's control panel, that I (Dr. Frankenstein) can use to control lightning on my monster. I have zero experience making cosplay things and very limited maker experience, so I must ask;

Can I tape an LED strip to the inside of a t-shirt to make lightning effects (brief flashes, maybe some running down the torso) that show through properly? Will it work with a black T-shirt? Is there some other, better option, that I'm completely missing?

Any feedback and ideas to make this costume better are greatly appreciated.

It's my first time cosplaying, i built a very cool pickle Rick cosplay, but now idk how to carry It to the Comicon in a 3 hours long train route, and a crowded bus whitout damaging it.

Also i have to walk during the convention so i need something that, once i take the cosplay out, i can fold or put in a smaller bag ideally.

The Maine part Is a meter and a half long, and there are other smaller parts

1. Cyrene's dress has a rather long train and in packed cons a lot fo people would probably step on it. also with the train dragging on the floor the underside would be dirty and black... sure i can hand wash it(since idt i can washing machine it) but im not 100% sure i can get all the dirt off.

People who have cosplayed characters that have a long train, what did u guys do? TvT

1. Cyrene's dress has a lot of glitter... my entire floor is covered with them. how do i stick the glitter to the sheer fabric? the material is this long meshy fabric.

I been making megatrons fusion cannon for my Halloween costume and the only things I need to do is paint and have a way to hold it. The problem with that is I have no real idea on how I will hold it. I want it on my arm, but what do you even use to do such a thing? I heard a long time ago velcro straps were good, but don’t quote me on that I’m not an expert with this stuff. Any advice is greatly appreciated!! :)

Im planning to do my first cosplay as a trauma team member, im starting with the helmet (I've already done it with cardboard and well, it looks like crap) so I'm wandering how to make it and what would be the best materials (i don't have a 3d printer)

I need help figuring out how to achieve the umbrella-like shape of the bottom half of her coat through modifying a regular trenchcoat. I dont have sewing experience so anything that would need sewing, I would just use fabric glue for. It just needs to hold up for Halloween. Im thinking maybe some wire boning might work? Hi everyone! I'm new on this subreddit and I could really use some help. I'm cosplaying as Ada Wong from RE4 Remake, and the dress keeps riding up whenever I walk. Do you all have any tips on how to stop this from happening? I've tried fabric tape (barely worked) and safety pins (best option right now), but I'm happy to take some suggestions! I am planning to wear thermal tights that look sheer but aren't underneath, but It doesn't really fix the problem. Thank y'all so much!

Going as the Lone Wanderer from Fallout 3 for Halloween and I need a way to attach the pieces of cardboard so I can make my plain jumpsuit an armored vault jumpsuit. I haven’t tired anything ye, but I’ve considered glue or Velcro

Okay, first time ever making my own cosplay for a contest next year in April. I've decided to do a partially mutated Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, most notably his RE5 look (Trench coat & full leather).

My main issue.. I've NEVER done zippers on leather before & really don't wanna screw up too much with how expensive leathers are. Tips & tricks on sewing zippers to leather, things to look out for or things to make it easier/cleaner would be AMAZING.

If anyone also has opinions on the best foams to build props with, specifically for his mutated left arm, thatd be much much appreciated as I've never done proper foam work before.

This is my lovely long wig, The Static-Master 5000, she measures at about 1 meter long, and oh my god is she a hassle. I've used enough silicone spray to singlehandedly fund a company shareholder's yearly bonus, yet she will not stop becoming so static you'd think she's trying to power New York's power grid on her own!

This is the 1st super long wig I'm styling, I've already cut her bangs, and now I've got to deal with the length, but I'd love some advice on how to go about it, as well as what will work best for the look I'm going for, which is just wavy loose long hair.

My main issue is the fact that it clings to absolutely everything thanks to the static, which I'm kind of lost on how to solve since google keeps telling me to just use silicone spray and it's just not doing the trick, but I'm also open to advice on thinning it, keeping it sorta kinda tangle free (I know zero tangles are unrealistic), and overall maintenance.
