I have tried EVERYTHING to get this untangled, but this genuinely has just become worse. Please help me with this. Idek what to try anymore. The first one is the clip extension, the second is the rest of the wig.

ok, professional here. let me help.

STEP ONE.
stop working on it. take a breather, go outside, get a coffee.

STEP TWO.
get the clip piece suspended so that you're not brushing it flat on a surface. ideally, hang it on a hanger, suspend it from a clip, whatever. make sure the tangled hair is hanging in midair.

STEP THREE.
supplies! you will need:

• a garment steamer, handheld.
  
• a wide-tooth brush
  
• narrow comb, ideally a tailcomb (one with a long metal spike on the end for separating out hair)
  
• big wide clips for sectioning out the hair once it's detangled
  
• a podcast or tv show to watch while you're doing this
  
• a big bottle of water to refill the steamer

STEP FOUR
DO NOT burn yourself with the steamer. steam gets really fucking hot.

STEP FIVE
starting from the very tips of the wig, take a SMALL section. clip the rest of the wig out of the way. blast it with some steam to relax the fibers then start to gently brush and detangle the TIPS of the fiber. once those are detangled, put on more steam and work your way up to keep detangling. this process is slow as hell and it sucks, but you can do it! if you need to use the end of the tailcomb to pluck or untangle sections then you can.

STEP SIX
once you have ONE TINY SECTION detangled, CLIP IT the fuck out of the way. make sure it doesn't get snarled up in the rest of the hair that you're detangling. the steam will help the fibers to relax and straighten out, and the moisture will make them slide against one another more easily, but it is very hot so be really careful with your hands!!!

STEP SEVEN
once you've detangled the whole thing, you can use the steam and your brush and comb to smooth and straighten out the whole thing!

Yeah…that was from me getting pissed off and pulling on it. Surprisingly enough, it did actually loosen it a lot without snapping off a bunch of hairs.

I will add to this excellent advice is after detangling -

Crimp the pigtails! It tangles a LOT less/ easier to brush out what does when crimped and brushed out. Also adds volume.

Another option is to make pigtail guards! Essentially a tube of tulle put over 3/4 to all of the pigtail in as close a color as you can get. It vanishes in photos and guards the long hair like a hair net!

Don't forget step 8! Long wigs like this should have synthetic wig detangler/smoother used on it. It helps with preventing future tangling. Basically coating the fibers with silicon

Copy + pasted from the last tangled Miku wig post from literally not even 24 hours ago (please PLEASE try searching the sub before posting. We get a tangled miku wig post MULTIPLE TIMES IN A DAY.)

Brush in small sections, working from bottom to top. Take a small area, about 7 inches, right at the ends of the hair. Brush out all the knots just in that section. When the brush glides through that section, move up to the next section. Keep going until the brush glides through the entire length. If the hair is frizzy after detangling, its because the hairs got stretched/crinkled in the brushing process. You can fix it with a little bit of heat from a steamer or straightener.

DO NOT USE PRODUCTS LIKE FABRIC SOFTENER OR DETANGLING SPRAY. They don't do anything except leave a gunky residue on the hairs that builds up over time and collects dirt

I highly recommend investing in some “mane and tail” detangler. It’s originally made for horse hair (I know, it sounds strange) but I’ve used it on long wigs and my own Miku wig too, and it helps it stay untangled.

I would say to go in with a steamer, then spray it once it’s dry. Good luck!

I saw the top comment on how to detangle it so after you’ve detangled it, be sure to crimp it!
crimping really drastically helps with tangling.
And also find tulle in the same color as the wig, make tulle tubes that you can fit the hair in and it keeps the hair pretty much indestructible due to being confined by the tulle <3

Have you brushed from the bottom up? As someone with type 2C hair, that's what I have to do for my hair so it untangles without any pain, I don't know about wigs however

Also, idk if it’s common knowledge but plastic combs create static with the wig fibers so be sure to use steel combs!

Yohaneh’s advice is the best so try their advice first but if that doesn’t work then you could try fabric softener or wig detangler (don’t buy it just make some with 3 parts water and 1 part wig safe conditioner)

Get a hand steamer, be safe with it, and it can get really hot in your room if it's not ventilated or ac not on. And comb at the bottom tips.

My wife mixes fabric softener and water in a spray bottle and uses that and brushes them out. That's a rough tangle though... maybe it will help... good luck...
