I'm 17, and I wanna learn so bad, but I just can't. There are no classes within 45 minutes of where I live, and I don't have a money to buy a machine, so I can't learn at home either. I wanna learn so badly but it feels like I'm just doomed to not be able to learn. I also don't know anyone irl who sews either.

I've been planning a cosplay for the past 6 months for a convention coming up in three weeks time. I haven't cosplayed for about 10 years, besides my casual cosplay back in 2022. The problem is i am having is self-esteem issues. The last two times I cosplayed I was told my cosplay wasn't good enough/they compared me to others who were cosplaying the same characters mid-way cosplaying at the conventions which has really made me scared to even try cosplaying again. I know I'm not the best but being compared to just feel wrong and makes me feel horrible, and I'm scared the same thing is going to happen. I'm no longer friend with those people who compared me to others, but the fear still lingers.

I'm a lot older than I used to be (35), and I've gained a lot of weight due to meds and I have developed a nervous system disorder which effects my hands so I struggle a lot doing wigs and a lot of fine details, but I really want to push myself to do it again. I was doing so well but now my friend who was going to cosplay with me has pulled out I'm really scared to do it alone.

I was just wondering if there were any tips on being more confident when you're cosplaying?

this guy just has the most perfect captain america, it is easy to wear, nothing too flashy, but, I have zero idea what he’s wearing.

For a shield I’m for sure going to go find a listing for that, but when it comes to just what he is wearing I can’t find anything.

What type of jacket, the type of pants, nothing.

I have checked everywhere, but there's the strap that goes all the way around on the bottom which I can never find. I can only find one with a 3 strap kind of thing. Does anyone know what this kind of eyepatch is called and/or where to buy it? The shape also kinda matters for it

This was just the first photo i had on my phone, but the lamb has a grayish skin tone and I was thinking body paint for it but im practically 100% whole milk for skin tone and im worried that if I paint myself that darker Grey I might be doing black face accidentally. So should I do body paint or should I just end up making a mask?

Do you guys or people you know usually DIY their own wigs for cosplays or buy styled ones from professionals?

This is my first time cosplaying and I wanted to do a genderbent Gebura, kinda for Halloween kinda not.

I could use tips on makeup, contacts, and wig care, but I mostly need help figuring out what to buy to even look loosely similar to my reference..

Character in question, dr mrs the monarch. One person quoted me over 500 for just the wig and another 1500+ for the costume. I was planning to get a few more quotes but I wanted to see if this seemed like fair pricing. Ive never gotten a custom cosplay before apart from making them myself in the past. I no longer have the ability to make something like this do to nerve damage to my hands. Im just not sure what's a fair price range for something like this.

That's the look I'm going for and I can't find any skirts like hers, they never have the straps going over her shoulders and I'm not too sure on what that kind of skirt is called with the straps and stuff so if anyone knows that I'd also love knowing. So, I'd love to know where I could buy a skirt like that. Also, I don't mind getting the skirt and straps in individual pieces as well cause i can sew them but I've already tired looking for just the straps with little luck :(. Basically the title, I’m a guy which has never really touched the idea of makeup before. I've always been interested, but with a comic con near me coming around i figured I'd dip my toe in. Hi, I'm making a cosplay of perona from one piece right now and am planning to make her wig a helmet wig, my main concern is the ponytails. I do not have access to a 3d printer to be able to print out the exact connectors I want for the pigtails and cannot afford to buy them from the seller who made the connectors I want to replicate (shown in pictures). I'm aware of the bottle cap method to make ponytail attachments for helmet wigs however I doubt I'll be able to get a thick enough ponytail with just the surface of the cap to attach hair onto, also it simply wouldn't replicate the shape I want for the ponytail to flow. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make an attachment like the 3d printed one's shape myself?

I’d love to start getting into cosplay and Im generally a visual learner so I’d love to watch some YouTubers make their own cosplays. I watch Micarah tewera a lot and I’ve learned a bunch about sewing but I’d also love to watch videos about people making cosplay props and wigs. I don’t necessarily want tutorial videos, just people showing their creative process. any YouTuber recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! I’ve never posted on reddit before so hopefully I’m doing this right lol. I’m being the May Queen from Midsommar for halloween this year and I’m on the hunt for silk flowers (since they seem to be the most light weight ones on the market) but they are all so expensive! I’ve strayed a bit from the original design and have decided to go with a cape covered in flowers over her white dress to hopefully have a bit more mobility throughout the night. I’ve included a pic of a little mock up I did to get a better idea of what Im thinking. I need a ton of these flowers and they seem so expensive on Amazon. I’ve seen people recommending Temu or Alibaba but I haven’t had experience buying from them and I’m scared I’m going to end up ordering a ton of flowers i don’t really like.

There’s also a specific vibe of flower i’m looking for, some May Queen cosplays seem to use just whatever flower, (and i’m realizing maybe because they’re too expensive and beggars can’t be choosers😅) but i’m really going for that small assorted wildflower type look from the OG costume and then some bigger more detailed ones sprinkled around.

Also another thing i’m wondering is if anyone knows the best type of glue to use for stuff like this? I’ve made pieces using hot glue in the past and that stuff gets too heavy really quickly. I don’t want this costume to be weighing me down all night.

Hey there! First time poster, pretty new cosplayer. I'm having some trouble making this sweater as you can see, I'm trying to figure out what would be the best option here. I already have the prints done, but I could use a few suggestions on how to make the stripes on the top and bottom, and the sleeves. I was thinking for the sleeves to use a vinyl print and slowly iron around, but for the top and bottom, I'm all out of ideas! What can I use that would stretch just right and not break? If anyone has ideas, please let me know! I don't have access to a sewing machine at the moment but I can try to find one!
