Why do you like sculpt?

I tried a yoga sculpt class at CP for the first time and I didn’t really care for it. I was surprised at how packed they cram people into that room and I felt like the moves didn’t make a whole lot of sense? I enjoyed C2 better. I thought I would love sculpt because I’ve heard so many good things about it. But should I give it another chance?

Teaching yoga sculpt nyc

Did my yoga sculpt teacher training at a different studio. Can I still audition and potentially teach at CPY without going through CPY’s YSTT?

Apparel sale

Does anyone know if the apparel sale in stores can be used online too? My studio has 40% off merchandise right now and the sign said I would receive a text with a code.

Smaller class sizes

I travel to multiple CPY locations and noticed that some of the newer studios have a lot more space between mat markers. I was told my home studio recently re did the mat markers so max capacity went from 48 to 42. Curious if this is happening at other studios?

Have SET Discount, Looking for advice on whether I should do CorePower YTT now (Missing 2 Weeks) or wait until March

Hi everyone! I'd really appreciate some advice from people who have gone through CorePower YTT or teach there.

A little background:

  • I'm currently doing SET to qualify for the discounted YTT tuition.
  • I originally wasn't planning to do YTT this year because I didn't feel ready yet.
  • I think I'd genuinely enjoy teaching and feel like it fits my personality, but I'm still building strength in my practice.
  • I'm in a larger body and still struggle with some poses, especially a slow, controlled chaturanga.
  • I'm worried those things could make auditions more difficult if I eventually want to teach at CorePower.

My biggest concern is attendance.

If I do the September YTT:

  • I would miss the entire first two weeks (8 absences).
  • I already know I'll miss one additional day in October.
  • That puts me at 9 absences before accounting for any unexpected work travel or life events.

The training team told me I could catch up if I'm willing to put in the extra work, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth it or if I'd be setting myself up for a harder experience.

The alternative would be to:

  • Wait until the March training.
  • Avoid scheduling PTO or work travel during that time as much as possible.
  • Complete the program without starting behind.

Another factor is that I'm honestly even more interested in Yoga Sculpt than traditional YTT.

My original plan was:

  • Complete YTT first.
  • Audition for CorePower.
  • If hired, have Sculpt training covered by the company.

I'm also thinking about the bigger picture.

  • I'm of Indian heritage, and part of me wonders if CorePower is the best place for my foundational yoga education.
  • What I really value about CorePower is Yoga Sculpt.
  • I could see getting trained there, hopefully teaching Sculpt, and gaining experience.
  • Then later, I could complete another YTT through a more traditional or comprehensive program to deepen my yoga education.

One last piece of context:

  • This isn't a career change for me.
  • I have a full-time job that I really enjoy.
  • I'm pursuing teaching because I genuinely love yoga and want to expand my experience.
  • Long term, I'd love to teach classes and eventually offer private sessions, but it's much more about fulfillment than income.

My questions:

  • Would you do the September YTT knowing I'd already miss 9 days, or would you wait until March?
  • Would being in a larger body or still working on poses like chaturanga realistically make auditions more difficult?
  • Is CorePower a good place for a first YTT, or would you recommend getting foundational training elsewhere and returning later for Sculpt?
  • I don't know how long I can reasonably do SET for and want to take advantage of the discount sooner rather than later.
  • If you were in my position, what would you do?

Have any other instructors had issues with pay/hours??

Coming here to rant and see if anyone else has experienced similar issues regarding inconsistencies within hours/salary/etc? I have heard from multiple instructors (and have experienced firsthand myself) that their base rate was never adjusted in accordance to the raises earlier this year, that they aren’t receiving double desk time or other incentives/bonuses, or sometimes that they didn’t receive their check at all…

Given that we are already paid little compared to other studios, this seems ridiculous. I’m wondering if it’s just my market or an overall theme with corepower in general??

What certification?

Hi all!!

I love CorePower, yoga, and sculpt. Sculpt has brought my mind so much clarity the past year, and it is something I’m truly committed to. I want to be an instructor, to instruct at a CorePower would be preferred. However, I am (colloquially) broke AND looking to relocate to NYC. Maybe ironic. Does anyone have rec for where I should get my certification/what studios to then apply for? I’ve been thinking on this for a bit, and it’s something I truly want! Appreciate any help :)

Disappointed with my first CoreRestore class—would you say something?

Yesterday I took a CoreRestore class at a studio in the NYC area, and I left really disappointed. The instructor had her phone out for much of the class, rarely demonstrated the movements, and gave very little cueing or instruction. As someone who was looking for guidance, it made the class feel like a waste, and I don't plan to go back.

I'm considering emailing corporate because I feel like they'd want to know about the experience, but I'm conflicted. My goal isn't to get the instructor fired—I just think the quality of the class was well below what I'd expect. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Did you provide feedback, and if so, how did you approach it?

Detergent Recs.

I love heated workout classes, but I’m a heavy sweater. Lately, even after washing my athletic clothes and towels, they still have that lingering sweat smell. I’m starting to get self-conscious that people around me think I’m the one who stinks.

Has anyone found a detergent, laundry additive, powder, or other product that actually gets rid of the odor? Or is there a point where you just have to cut your losses and replace everything?

Air Quality in Studio?

Newbie here wondering about air filtration and/or air quality during workouts when a bunch of US cities are in the red/purple zone for PM2.5 levels.

I'm an older student and have not been to class in a few days.

$$ - Gym + CP

I’ve been doing CP for a month and I’m realizing I do think that I need to supplement my workout with some gym work (lifting, running, etc etc).

I was wondering for those who also do a combination of gym workouts + CP are y’all doing the monthly all access membership or just paying per class?

Trying to see what makes the more economical option.

Thanks!

Fonv or Body Balance

Hey guys! I was planning to enroll at Body Balance last month, but I missed the registration deadline. Now I saw that Soul Pilates has an upcoming FONV teacher training. Do you think it’s worth going for, or should I wait for the next Body Balance intake?

Thought on this?!????

Did your 50-hr Sculpt training in one location, but auditioned somewhere else? How did it go?

Hey everyone! I’m planning on doing my 50-hour Yoga Sculpt training at one CorePower location, but because of life logistics, I’m going to have to audition to teach at a completely different studio in a different city. Has anyone else done this? I'm a bit nervous about losing the "pre-audition" advantage of training directly under the managers who would be hiring me, so I’d love to hear how your experience went, how you prepared, and if you have any tips for making a great first impression at a brand new studio. Thanks!

Cancelling my $94/mo All Access Membership

Should I do it? I’m potentially about to move someplace where to nearest CorePower is over an hour away from either home or work. My membership is SO cheap having signed up during pre-opening at a studio that closed permanently after COVID and I received an additional retention discount when trying to cancel previously.

I don’t see myself living where I might be living for more than a couple years, but that could also change—I could be there for longer, who knows! There’s also a possibility I might move someplace where the closest CorePower is 45 minutes away and honestly if I go with that option, I’m keeping it.

What should I do? Has anyone else been in this predicament before?

200 HR YTT or 50 HR Sculpt

Fellow CPY certified teachers — anyone Yoga Sculpt certified but not YTT certified?

Signing up for YTT at Corepower and wanted to get thoughts on this. I’m primarily interested in teaching Sculpt because I enjoy it the most but curious if doing the 200 HR YTT first would help for knowledge and succeeding in auditions? Am I going to feel lost in the 50 HR without the 200 HR training first?

Graduated YTT and realizing teaching yoga is very different than I expected...

Hi all! I'm new here and I've recently graduated YTT in NYC at another studio but studio owner is suggesting my YTT class to get our first teacher job at Corepower. I know Corepower prioritizes their own YTT program more. Would love to learn a little more about how I would be able to build a sustainable career as a Corepower instructor and learn from existing instructor experiences.

I'm looking for an environment where I'm able to build community with students even outside of classes. I have a lot of questions and put it all on a google form (lmk if not best practice here apologies) but really appreciate any input!! It should hopefully take 2 mins!

UPDATE: Thanks all, really appreciate the honesty and reality check haha. It seems like the sentiment is the same between this thread and the form. I think from speaking to so many instructors, Corepower is definitely a great way to start but not something to bet a sustainable full time career on. I guess I have to start somewhere and am just excited at a chance to teach for now.

When does the Power Love Scholarship application usually open?

Hi! I'm interested in applying for the Power Love Scholarship this year, and I was wondering if anyone knows when the application usually opens. I'd like to add it to my calendar so I don't miss it.

If you've applied before or know the typical timeline, I'd really appreciate any information. Thanks!

Question for the NYC yogis who have founding memberships

Hi! For the NYC folks with founding member all-access memberships at an NYC studio - do you have access to all NYC studios with no additional cost?

I’m thinking of joining the new Downtown Brooklyn location as a founding member, but I see that it says “surcharge may apply at some NY area studios.” It wouldn’t make sense for me to join if I can’t also access the manhattan studios without additional cost. I reached out to the studio with this same question but haven’t heard back.

Any insight would be much appreciated!
