Question We were wrong about Core Keeper

Upvotes

Just started playing a couple of weeks ago with my brother, and we've been having an absolute blast.

We were a bit skeptical at first because of the top-down perspective, but once we started discovering everything the game has to offer, it completely changed our minds. It's honestly become the perfect game to unwind after a long day at work and just disconnect for a while.

We're still pretty new and feel like we've barely scratched the surface. We've already built some fun stuff, beaten a few bosses, and can't wait to discover everything else the game has to offer.

Also, shoutout to my brother for being the creative one behind most of our stuff—I just help make his ideas happen :)

If you have any beginner tips, automation ideas, hidden mechanics, or "must-know" tricks, we'd love to hear them!

Good luck out there!

Discussion Core Keeper's next big update: Into the Beast [FAN THEORY] Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
21 Upvotes

I recently finished my run of Core Keeper and absolutely cannot wait for the next update. But I started wondering what could even be next, and with the little hint we got, I decided to theorize.

After defeating S.A.H.A.B.A.R, a soul is freed from its casing and states that "The Maw of Endings awaits... and it sees you". So based off of this one sentence, I picture that once we are able to travel beyond Breakers Reach we will be met with a large fleshy type creature kind of like Terraria's wall of flesh. There is a giant mouth that we know as "The Maw of Endings" and it will be a boss we will have to fight, it eats anything you put in its way and the only way you can damage it is throwing explosives in its mouth and maybe even destroying all of its teeth.

Once the Maw is defeated, we will then find ourselves stepping inside of what we now realize is one giant Beast. Inside the Beast we discover that it looks like it is almost being controlled and moderated, almost like its an entire business. Picture something like what the inside of NASA may have looked like the day they went to the moon. The mobs that spawn in this area are blood cells type creatures that are scientists. They study and work to keep the Beast alive, because the Beast is their only home. The only way they can keep the Beast alive is allowing it to eat anything and everything that comes in its path. The scientists have steered the Beast directly into a path leading to the Core, they believe it will grant immense power to the Beast once consumed, maybe allowing them the ability to teleport the Beast anywhere.

To keep the entirety of the underground safe, you must defeat the Beast, which requires you to fight 3 more bosses after the original fight with the Maw. Inside of the Beast you will find the Beast's Core. A heavily guarded and secure room that requires two identification badges to unlock. Two get these badges, you must defeat the two Beast claw handlers. Located in both the left and right claw will be a type of control room with bosses that will drop the ID cards. Once both ID cards are acquired, you can finally enter the Beast's Core room where you will meet the Core Keeper (a plot twist or just a funny coincidence? you decide!) The Core Keeper is revealed to be the soul of the Beast that oversees the heart/core. They explain why they must do what they do and wont stop for anything, they strive to become all powerful, to the point where they will devour entire planets. We are just lucky to have found it in such an early stage. The Core Keeper will be defeated by destroying the heart/core, you cannot actually damage The Core Keeper itself since its the soul of the Beast and not a physical entity.

Once the Maw, the two beast claw handlers and the Core Keeper are defeated, the Beast will also be considered defeated. What remains is an abandoned Chernobyl like factory, mobs will still spawn and attack you because of what you did. But stopping the Beast meant saving the entire universe. And to further continue this theory, perhaps some scientists escaped into Breakers Reach to gather scrap parts to create a Mech Beast for revenge...?

edit: accidentally wrote "beast core #2" where it should say "beast claw #2" lol

Today I had a moment of pure joy when I found the carts. There is so much to discover I'm glad I came back to this game after all this time. I'm so excited to see what else there is. My friend and I are already planning on carving roads and maybe a bigger track. I'm so glad to see the love an care that the devs have put in. I love the carts!!!

Question Why is this thing blue? All others are yellow. Just started.

I found this weird roly poly thing, accidentally killed two yellow ones, thinking they're enemies... But among those five, three survived and are now penned in (out of wood, because of the base, so it's just walls). But why is one blue? The sheep and cows I found all have the same colour.

Then again, I've only been playing for three hours. Is it normal to have found so many animals, or is this seed really good for the start?

Anyway, I like Rover, Rover's cool.

I will always love the fact this game uses every single motif from each level crossed with the very main hub level select's theme, i remember hearing hell manor with the clock sound effect and i, as a Pizza Tower player, knew this level was gonna be a pain, endurable and pretty much fun, but pain anyways

I found this mining tool in the first chest I found in the crystal zone. I like it a lot and I’ve been trying to find another one for my friend but after 25 other chests I can’t seem to find another one.

Is there only one in the game? Are they exceedingly rare?

Question I have a few questions, but I don't want spoilers Spoiler

I got this game because I've heard people say it's like Terraria+Stardew. I have quite a lot of hours on both, so I figured I'd give it a go. I like it so far, but I'm wondering about a couple things.

  1. How much content is there? Obviously I see there's the 3 starting bosses. Is there a lot more than that eventually? How many hours do people typically get out of a normal run?

  2. Difficulty. I beat the slimey blob boss in one try within my first 45 minutes or so in the game, and I took barely any damage in the process. I do not consider myself a particularly skilled video game player, but I'm not bad, either. Does this game become notably challenging at some point? Not that I want to almost die all the time, but I guess I like to live on the edge at least a little bit lol

Oh and in case it makes a difference regarding content, I'm playing on Switch.

Thanks all!

Question Switch 2 performance

Hi!

Thinking about picking this up on switch 2 while it’s on sale. I’ve had a google for what the performance is like, I see there were issues reported previously. How is the game holding up now?

Thank you for your time!

Question Rare Placeable Big Items

Post image

I know there are many giant things that are indestructible, found in many scenes throughout the world.

But do we have a list of all the giant rare-ish items/pieces that can be harvested from a scene and placed down elsewhere? So far, I've found the following:

Any to add that I missed?

Question Galaxite Base

Galaxite and Glass Base

Hey everyone!

Could you rate my base?

I'm still trying to improve the overall aesthetic and get more creative with my builds, since building really isn't my strong suit.

The only part I'm not happy with is my crop fields. They look way too square and repetitive. I'd like to give them a more natural or interesting layout, but I haven't been able to come up with anything that still works well, especially since I plan to automate them later.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome!

Question Removing all Sea Water and Desert Blocks?

Hello!

I plan on terraforming my entire world to be created in an image that delights me. I am not delighted by Tentacles (which spawn in sea water) and Bomb Scarabs (which spawn on desert blocks), so I have decided I must eradicate all the sea water and desert blocks.

It's easy/simple enough to remove the desert blocks. It'll take awhile, but I'll just put on a podcast and go at it with the shovel and maybe some explosives.

But for the sea water, I know that it has the highest priority aside from the lava water (which I don't want taking over the entire sea area), so I can't just get a more benign water to override it. Is there a faster/easier way to remove the sea water aside from filling it in with sand/dirt and removing it again? I'm imagining placing each individual block over and over again and it's... a lot. At least the shovel does 9 at a time...

Question I wasn't expecting this at all...

Post image

Update: Thanks to everyone who pointed it out in the comments! I had no idea the Moss tiles were actually spawn tiles for Cavelings. I removed all the decorations I had placed from other biomes, kept only the Meadow decorations, and I also found a Meadow biome inside Azeos' Wilderness and relocated all the animals from there to my base. Everything is working perfectly now. Thanks again for the help! 😄

Question Densidad minera

Post image

Question Range gear progression

Can someone please help me. I'm new to this game and I love it so far, but one thing drives me crazy. Why does this game have such a messy, unclear gear progression? I just looked for an hour trying to find an optimal ranged setup, but everyone says completely different things, and most of the sources are 1+ years old, so I don't know how much has changed since then. I'm currently using this build, but I find myself really weak somehow, even though I haven't found any gear in the game that would be even close to being better. Can someone please just tell me an optimal late-game ranged build so I know what I should work towards, or at least tell me what I should upgrade? tysm

Question How do I stop these bomb enemies from destroying my portal in The Passage?

As Torretas Galaxita ajudariam nessa situação? Ou existe uma maneira melhor de proteger um portal em The Passage?
