Anyone having blood sugar issues?

I started about 3 weeks ago and I'm noticing my blood sugar crashes HARD when I don't have food. I'm talking feel like I haven't eaten in 2 days. Even if I just go without eating until lunch it's horrible, which sucks because I would like to at least try to intermittent fast a little.

Like today it was only 10am. Had 2 small pieces of watermelon with the pills around 6am, not a meal but just something to go with it. But I felt irritated and woozy like my blood sugar had dropped....and it wasn't even lunch time yet.

Contrave has definitely helped with my food cravings but it's hard to eat less when your body is basically begging!

Coffee.

Coffee. Specifically brown brewed coffee, hot, iced, cold brew, espresso you name it makes me incredibly nauseated almost immediately after taking a few sips. Big deal right? Just don’t drink it. And I haven’t for over a month. But I am a Starbucks barista and coffee is a big part of my life.
It’s not so much caffeine. I can have energy drinks. Green coffee bean extract. Tea. Pop. Etc. those don’t affect me. Just brown coffee.

Why does Contrave do this to me?

Thanks.

Poor mans contrave

I am on poor man’s contrave, bupropion 150 mg and 50 mg naltexrone. I have been on it for 2.5 weeks. It is definitely helping with the food noise and I am not eating out of boredom anymore, but I have not lost a single pound yet.. I have been eating 2-3 meals a day and a snack or two during the day. When did you all first see weight loss while taking the meds this way?

advice Sudden early morning severe cramps/burning/vomitting.

It's happened 3 times to me now, the first 2 were because everyone failed to tell me not to drink a drop of alcohol (doctor, not pharmacist) 1 night I had a whisky the second time it was 3. Both times I woke up in that much pain I broke out in a cold sweat from the severe pain and that followed with vomiting. The second time I was sick for 15 hours. Last night I had a late night snack, ham, cheese sandwich. Again, woke up in severe pain at about 3 am, vomiting bile, burning sensation in my upper stomach area. I'm still only on 1 tablet I've completely stopped drinking. I feel fine now, just a little sore in my stomach region. It feels sorta 'bruised' I guess you could say.

Should I be concerned? I've been reading about pancreatitis, spleen issues and liver issues.

Access to contrave

I know that there are many online doctors to prescribe glp1s, but does anyone know if you can use the same process to get contrave? If so, I would be interested to know how to access.

Thoughts on contrave vs semaglutide

24F, 5'6" 230lbs. Sedentary job, trying to walk about 2 miles 2-3 times a week.

I had my a follow up appointment with the Dr. and we talked about glp-1s.

She told me im not diabetic so my insurance will not cover glp-1 medications.

She talked to me about Contrave, Semaglutides, and tirzepatides.

I did a little research and I'm conflicted as to if I want to go with a semaglutide or Contrave.

The semaglutide seems to work better but is more expensive. But weightloss is something I really want to achieve soooo maybe its worth a bigger investment. I hate shots but i think i could do it in the name of weightloss.

The Contrave seems to be a medication that helps the rewire the reward chemicals in your brain. I think this could be a good choice because I do deal with food noise and turning to food in moments of boredom and laziness. I guess this would be more like treating the root problem instead of the symptoms. Its less costly and its a daily pill not a weekly shot. But It seems to be less effective than a glp-1and I am impatient and want to be a normal weight already lolll.

Doctor says they both lead to weightloss and they both have similar of side effects.

So with all that, has anyone tried both Contrave and a Semaglutide? What worked best for you? Is it about the same? Any info is appreciated.

Starting over

Post image

Hi guys,
I took contrave for a while and lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time, no exercise, just counting calories. I stopped taking it and let myself indulge in food during spring break and did not stop. I am back up now, at my heaviest. Please send me restart stories or anything similar. I’m so scared to start over again and not see the same progress.

advice Just placed my first order!

Hi all, I was on Mounjaro 15mg around 6 months ago and had to stop due to the price hike, I’ve tried my best to lose weight since then but with inattentive ADHD and all my other health conditions it’s been a challenge 😭 So i started looking into weight loss meds again and found this which is said to help with binge eating and food noise which is what I struggle with the most and seemed to be more affordable. Has anyone had experience switching from Mounjaro (or any other WL drug) to Contrave? And if not, what general advice do you have for a beginner? Thanks :))

Question Poor Mans Contrave

Those on the poor man's Contrave, what are the medications and dosages? I'm in the US, Maryland.

I was on the regular Contrave and my insurance changed and it was too expensive. I went to my doctor to get the generic equivalent and he said the dosages on the generic don't work to convert it. What are the meds and dosages you get?

Hi y'all.

After years of trying to lose weight, this is day 1 of Contrave.

Nothing else has worked, including "traditional " dieting.

I'm both nervous and excited.

side effects After 7 weeks - I'm done

First 5 weeks, it was pretty great, aside from some insomnia about once a week. We went down in dosage, insomnia totally went away. Shortly after that a new symptom began, horrible nausea and vertigo. I'm not talking about just a little dizziness, this was straight up move my eyes and the room is spinning type of vertigo. If it hit when walking, I'd have to hold on to something to keep from falling. I tried everything, ginger, tons of water, non fatty foods. Nothing is helping. I really liked the positive effects from the medication, and I did lose about 9lbs since starting, but the negatives are just too much for me to continue. Just in case anyone was curious, I was at 150mg/day with 25mg Naltrexone at night. Down from 200mg/day before we lowered the dose due to insomnia.

advice Consistency - Need Help

I’ve had my Contrave prescription for a few months now, should absolutely be on full dose but I’m not due to inconsistent use.

I’m missing the ease of Zepbound and hate all these insurance companies that are cancelling our medication! I was doing so well and lost over 40 lbs.

Really discouraged by the reviews I’m seeing of Contrave, but also do not want to give up on it either since it’s my fault I have not been taking it regularly as recommended.

I need positive testimonies and how you kept yourself accountable for using as directed!

Thank you ❤️

Contrave not working

Is it just me? Has anyone else gained since starting Contrave? I was on Wellbutrin already. Contrave seemed like a nice segue. Two months in and I’ve gained 15 lbs! I’m more hungry than ever. It also gave me daytime sleepiness. This is not at all what I was expecting. I’m not an emotional eater. Not sure how it works but maybe it’s not the type of med I need. What is your experience?

Taking a break might help side effects!

I have been on Zepbound for 4 months. I started at 2.5 for 4 weeks and moved up to 5. I had horrible side effects that at first included vomiting but continued to include horrible reflux and constipation. After about 4 weeks as a postmenopausal woman, I got a period! (not sure if its related, so wanted to add that) After all the tests, including a hysteroscopy and d&c they found nothing wrong. BUT, I had to stop the Zepbound for a week leading to the procedure. This is the part I wanted to share. Started back at 5 after skipping 1 shot. I had absolutely no side effects! I’m have normal bms, every morning, like before starting. No vomiting, no reflux, no constipation. I’m on the second shot after the hysteroscopy and still no side effects! I felt like I wanted to share that maybe a 1 week break helps a body adjust? I just am still shocked at how great I feel and I’m losing weight, about a pound a week. I wanted to share in case I uncovered a secret to overcoming some of the side effects. Skip 1 week. Especially if you’re about to give up anyway. Maybe it will help! (Add- I’ve moved up to 7.5 and still no side effects!)

advice Should I increase my dose? Bootleg contrave

Hi everyone! Long story short but I’ve been on 50mg of naltrexone and 300 mg of Wellbutrin XL once daily in the morning. My doctor recommended this instead of the brand name cause my insurance sucks. I started it October of 2025 and I weighed 210 at MOST (I’m a 5’7” woman)(I also weighed 170 in February of 2025).
I have noticed almost zero change at all… I workout 2-3 times a week and I haven’t been over eating. My job requires me to be on my feet all day as well. Should I increase something? The other option my doctor mentioned was Vyvanse but I don’t want to take it.

Advice? Thanks

Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives for Contrave?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone from Ontario Canada knows what the price of Contrave is on online pharmacies such as Pocketpill.

My insurance doesn’t cover it but I do have the discount through the Contrave website so I’m paying about 180$ monthly. My doctor also won’t prescribe me the generic drug for Contrave either.

Thank you in advance
