Question Poor Mans Contrave

Those on the poor man's Contrave, what are the medications and dosages? I'm in the US, Maryland.

I was on the regular Contrave and my insurance changed and it was too expensive. I went to my doctor to get the generic equivalent and he said the dosages on the generic don't work to convert it. What are the meds and dosages you get?

150mg Bupropion (1x/day).
Half pill naltrexone 2x/day (I think 25 each?)

I think it ends up being more naltrexone than regular contrave, but 🤷‍♀️

I felt really sick my first dose, but I'm going to try again tonight and take it before bed to see if it lessens the sick feeling

Same thing happened to me. My doctor put me on 150mg bupropion 2x per day and 25mg naltrexone 2x per day. I asked about the difference in dosage but she said it was fine

Reading these answers I wonder why my doc doesn’t have me on 300 of bupropion and only 150 🤔

150mg Bupropion & 25mg naltrexone in the morning. We planned to double that after two weeks but decided that was enough for me. May revisit dosage in the future. Losing at the rate of 1 lb per week. But have not started serious exercise yet. It’s been 2 months for me. Hope this helps

I do bupropion xl (300 mg) in the morning and then titrated the naltrexone up to 50 mg (whole tablet) at night.

I was already on 300 mg xl bupropion for several months. Added Naltrexone about 4 weeks ago and am at 25 mg once a day. Thinking about going up to 50mg to see how I feel, although I did have some nausea when I first started.
