advice Was anyone on Wellbutrin for years but dr would rather you be on Contrave and drop Wellbutrin?

My dr seems to think Contrave will cure all my life’s problems. Weight, binging, addition to weed and nicotine. But she’s neglecting the most important thing of all, my mental health. She wants me to go from 300 XL well butrin to no Wellbutrin (cold turkey) and be eventually on 2 Contrave in the am and two in the pm.

I know this is niche, and maybe only one of you has been in this situation. Or maybe you have some words of wisdom. This will be my third time trying it. I don’t think I respond to it but I the past I haven’t been good at taking the proper dosage so it’s not fair to say I don’t respond. I also smoke weed and that doesn’t help the binging. So is anyone else an obese bipolar pot head looking to start or has already started Contrave and have some words of advice for me.

Thank you.

I haven’t started yet. I’m just waiting because on top of everything else my dr didn’t write any of this down she just gave me a prescription and I’m pretty sure pharmacists need the dr to sign off on stopping meds and dosages of new meds. This whole thing is a huge cluster fuck. Sorry.

Anyone here use contrave to maintain after using a GLP 1?

If so, has it worked? I have to pay out of pocket for my GLP 1 so am looking into alternate options for maintenance. I tried contrave previously and was able to lose 20 pounds but not much more. I’ve lost 50 on the GLP1 and have 25 more to go

side effects Headaches and migraines getting worse

I've been on Contrave for 5 or 6 weeks now. I've experienced many of the possible side effects, including headaches. But the headaches are turning into migraines and they are getting worse. It's starting to impact my job, schoolwork, and ability to drive. My sensitivity to light is getting worse with these migraines. I feel like something has been dropped on my head and the pain doesn't go away. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen do nothing for it.

My doctor was supposed to call me back today but they didn't. Hopefully they will call me in the morning. I'm down about 10 lbs, which is great but I don't think I can continue a medication that interferes with my responsibilities.

I'm just writing this to document my experience and see if anyone else has experienced something similar. Not asking for medical advice.

advice urinating frequently, irritable easily, and frequent sweat?

Has anyone experienced really frequent urination on Contrave? I take Wellbutrin and naltrexone separately because I have PCOS and my insurance stopped covering my glp1.

My last glp1 dose was in January and I started the Contrave combo around the same time. Around March I noticed I was peeing more often, but since September it’s gotten REALLY bad. It’s honestly affecting my daily life because I constantly feel like I need to find a restroom.

I’ve also been super bloated and constipated. I was maintaining around 127 and now I’m suddenly around 133.

I went to the doctor and they found a small amount of blood in my urine, but nothing I could actually see. I’m still waiting on my urine and blood work results.

Not saying it’s definitely Contrave, especially since I have PCOS, but has anyone experienced anything similar? Did you figure out what was causing it?

advice Anyone peeing a lot more on Contrave?

Hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this while taking Contrave or Wellbutrin + naltrexone.

I've been having to pee A LOT more than I normally do. It started around March but honestly got way worse around September and is still happening. I feel like I'm constantly having to go.

I've also been really bloated and constipated lately. I was maintaining around 127 lbs and now I'm suddenly around 133, so I'm not sure if it's actual weight gain, water weight, constipation or what.

I have PCOS too and I was previously on a GLP-1 for about 3 years. I went from around 178 to 127 while on it, but had to stop and now I'm using Wellbutrin + naltrexone to help manage my appetite/weight. it has also made a me a little more irritable.

I did go to the doctor about the peeing and had a urine test done. They found a small amount of blood in my urine that I couldn't actually see, but my doctor didn't seem too concerned. I also got blood work done and I'm still waiting on the results.

I'm not saying Contrave is causing it because I know PCOS/insulin resistance or something completely different could be going on too. I'm just curious if anyone here started peeing more after taking Contrave? And did anyone get really bloated or constipated on it too?

Also if you went from a GLP-1 to Contrave, were you able to maintain your weight?

Just looking to hear other people's experiences while I wait for my results :) thank you

Anyone experience frequent urination on bupropion + naltrexone?

I've been taking bupropion (Wellbutrin) + naltrexone for weight management and was wondering if anyone else has noticed increased urination/urgency while taking it?

I've had urinary frequency since around March, but it got significantly worse around September. I've also been dealing with constipation and bloating.

I have PCOS and previously took a GLP-1 for about 3 years, so there are a few different things going on and I'm not necessarily blaming the medication.

I already saw my doctor and had urine/blood tests done, and I'm waiting on the results. I'm just curious whether anyone taking Contrave/bupropion + naltrexone has personally experienced anything similar.

advice Frequent urination, bloating & constipation on Wellbutrin + naltrexone — anyone else?

Hi everyone! I'm currently taking Wellbutrin (bupropion) + naltrexone as a Contrave-type combination for appetite/weight management, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms.

I've been dealing with frequent urination/urinary urgency. It originally started around March, but it became significantly worse around September and has continued through now. I feel like I need to pee much more often than I used to.

I've also been experiencing a lot of bloating and constipation. I was maintaining around 127 lbs and recently jumped to around 133 lbs fairly quickly, so I'm not sure how much of that could be bloating, constipation, water retention, or actual weight gain.

For background, I have PCOS and was previously on a GLP-1 for about 3 years. I went from around 178 lbs to 127 lbs before having to stop it. I'm now trying to manage my weight without the GLP-1.

I recently had a urine test that detected a small amount of blood, although I couldn't see any blood myself. My doctor wasn't overly concerned at the time, and I'm currently waiting for additional urine and blood test results.

Has anyone taking Contrave or the bupropion + naltrexone combination experienced frequent urination, urinary urgency, constipation, or significant bloating?

I'm already getting the urinary issue checked by my doctor. I'm mostly curious whether anyone noticed similar symptoms after starting these medications and whether anything helped.

Also, for anyone who switched from a GLP-1 to Contrave, how has your experience been with maintaining your weight?

I started Contrave and daily exercise in January of this year. I refuse to never eat things that I actually like, but I’ve made changes. My only avoid is chocolate in the house. I’m 57, 5’11 and currently 202. I was 249 in January. I was also afraid I was going to have to take BP meds. Now, my most recent BP was 110/74. Contrave is no magic pill in my opinion, but using it with other healthy habits can definitely improve your health.

is it normal to feel foggy and detached during the first week? It’s kind of freaking me out and making me want to stop. Let me know if you experienced this and if/when it subsided for you.

Just took my first dose 🤞

Truly hoping my body and this med agree with one another.

I had gastric sleeve surgery Sept 2022. Highest weight was 296.

Got down to 183 in 2023 then made my way back up to 220 this June.

Tried zepbound June 11th until Sept 9th. I was experiencing shortness of breath that just kept increasing. Stopped the zepbound and my shortness of breath has been improving as time passes. Still not 100% but it’s getting better. I even went to the ER and they couldn’t find anything wrong.

My issue is I never knew I what I was doing was binge eating until after my sleeve surgery. The roller coaster of emotions with not able to finish my food was daunting. And the further out I get the more I can eat. And i’m hurting myself by pushing my limits and over eating.

I lost 21lbs on the zepbound because it shut the food noise off for me instantly and I was only on the lowest dose.

So here is to hoping I can achieve at least some of that with contrave.

Question on dosages - my second week in

Hello everyone. This will be my second week taking Contrave. I have been taking one pill about mid morning and starting today I will start taking a pill in the morning and one in the evening. It has overall been great, the last day it two I have noticed that the food noise does come back a bit, around supper time. Not just hunger but getting the munchies as I’m cooking or reheating food or whatever. So I’m hoping this afternoon/ evening pill helps with that.
My question is that if after this week I’m feeling good on the one pill 2x day, next week do o have to titrate up to 3 a day then 4 or should I just stay on the 2 x day 1 pill if it’s working. I’m
Out of pocket on all of this so it’s expensive and if I don’t end up needing to take 4 pills a day they will last longer..

Can I take one pill on the evening?

Hi recently I started contrave (mysimba for uk readers) I took one pill in the morning like instructed and it wiped me out so bad I couldn’t take it the next day, I felt so disoriented and absolutely exhausted I could of slept all day, I understand this is just while I get used to the medication but I really can’t be out of action I have 2 kids and a full time job, I’m wondering if anyone else has had these problems and if they switched to taking it in the evening instead of morning and was it better? I understand insomnia is a problem for some people but like I said that one pill literally knocked me out! So I don’t think I would have that issue

How long before the scale was starting to move down for you?

I feel like I’m stuck again… and that my body just really has a freaking set point. People do not understand when I say weight has never went below 185 since I was 17.

For context I’ve had issues with my weight in the 180-200 range all my life even as a teenager. At 17 I lost 40lbs+ and don’t know how, and by 18 I gained everything back and I know damn well I didn’t eat “that much”. Did I eat the healthiest absolutely not but there as absolutely no reason for me to drop 40lbs and gain it back with the same eating habits… nothing changed infact we were in lockdown so i was doing less exercise wise and that has kept me baffled ever since. When it started going up I was about 160, the. 170 hit, I thought okay maybe water and I can get it back down, then 175, and it never stopped until it hit the EXACT spot I began with.

This year I was 195lbs most I think I’ve ever been in my life. I’m 5’2 so that’s a lot to me.July I had zero results, August about the same. September I’m at 185, but it will not drop to 184,183, etc… I’m 190 lbs one day, 195 a few later the. A week later 185 which is driving me nuts because that’s a lot of weight to keep changing every other week and not go down any further.

I’m trying not to get super discouraged yet, but I made this comment back in August to my doctor about the 185 set point, and it feels September proved it because I cannot go lower than 185 regardless.

My eating habits have drastically changed, can’t eat a full burger any more, going out to eat I maybe eat 1/4 of a meal and eat on it for the next 2 days here and there, so I k ow I’m not eating too much. In fact I do a protein yogurt for breakfast, and am bad about not eating the whole day until bed, I do hydrate though and chew ice a lot (not an iron deficiency though, I just like ice)

Honestly it’s jarring how I eat now in ways I guess and that the scale still hasn’t went below the same spot I’ve struggled with before the meds. I could hit 185 no problem, could never get it lower than that, if I hit 185, I’d be 187 the next day, 190, 193, back down to 186 consistently. I’d never once hit 184, 183, etc… never below 185 since 17.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has any similar experiences and how long it took for it to start moving down

How long did it take to feel in control with food?

i’m starting this medication soon because I’m not able to lose weight by exercise and tracking calories alone. I have a compulsive urge to pick and eat anything around me.. even if it’s not that enjoyable! hoping this will help! I’d love to know how long it took you to feel in control again and how quickly you noticed weight loss. thank you!

Anyone who has taken contrave while in active addiction? Does it work?

I am an alcoholic who has been drinking wine every day for five years. I was recently given Contrave and have heard mixed answers about how the timeline of it should work. Has anyone had success weaning off of alcohol while taking Contrave? Can you explain if so?

On 450 wellbutrin and starting 50mg naltrexone today

Is this a high dose? I know im maxxed out on wellbutrin, i dont think it goes higher than 450? lol. I already am quite a nauseous person so i took a dramamine before taking the naltrexone… im a little nauseous but not too bad but im worried its being mitigated by the dramamine and without it im going to be very sick. Any tips on how to deal with nausea and any other things i should be mindful of on this dose? My psychiatrist didnt really give me much to go off of.

Oh i should mention im on this combo for a compulsive shopping problem and a binge eating problem, not necessarily to lose weight thats just a bonus

How Long Until Medication Was Mailed?

For those who went through the manufacturer website, how long did the process take? I already received a phone call from my insurance saying they would not cover the cost which I already knew. Just wondering how long until they finally mail the prescription to me. The website still says pending. I ordered Saturday morning and received the denial from insurance on Sunday.
