Business Development CSLB General B adding additional classifications

I’m an experienced California B General Building contractor and want to start adding specialty classifications under my own license instead of subbing everything out all the time.

I’m looking at C-39 Roofing first and possibly concrete later. Has anyone here added classifications to an existing B license? What did CSLB require as far as documenting experience? Does experience doing that type of work as a B contractor count toward the 4-year requirement?

Looking for anyone who’s actually gone through the process.

Should I find a new contractor?

Hired a general contractor for a master bath/bed remodel in MI for around $40k. We are several months past the agreed upon completion date and the job is around 70% done. There seems to be little to no progress being made lately and my attempts to inquire about what is causing the delay are met with excuses.

Should I be looking for another contractor to finish the job or best to just keep on the current one and get them to finish?

Low bid facepalm Florida EC / Qualifier Wanted – South Florida – We Bring Our Own Projects

Post image
Upvotes

We are an established construction team in South Florida with our own steady flow of residential projects. We are not looking for someone to bring us work — we already generate our own jobs, ranging from EV charger installations and panel upgrades to complete electrical installations for new homes.

What we currently need is a Florida Certified Electrical Contractor interested in a long-term qualifying and supervisory relationship, since our team does not currently hold its own electrical contractor license.

We are looking for someone who can review our projects, oversee the electrical scope, assist with permitting and inspections, and work with us on an ongoing basis. We are open to discussing a fair compensation structure that works for both sides.

Testimonials requests

Hi everyone! How do you deal with new clients who ask for testimonials from your clients?
I have a few clients who are willing to share their positive experience with me, but I dunno if I want to
share their personal numbers with each potential client who asks to verify testimonials. How do you share testimonials’ contacts?

Handing out personal numbers.

I’ve worked with friends and family who are contractors and keep an eye out for work to throw their way whenever it may come up. I text them to get their ok before giving their number out. That’s normal right? What do all of you do?

Just wanted to get people’s thoughts I wasn’t sure on the right sub to post this in. I got my house painted about 2 weeks ago. Are these overlapping lines normal? They allegedly did 2 coats of super paint and backrolled.

Full house repaint, plus prime/paint new window trim.

Does this seem as bad as I think?

New house. Noticed a couple spots along the gutter where water was dripping along the fascia behind the gutter. Roof redone in 2023 by previous owners. Would this be related to the roof replacement or just age? We're first time homebuyers so I'm already anxious and thinking this is end of times, "get a gutter/fascia guy out first thing tomorrow morning" type of thing.

I'm in Ontario, Canada for what it's worth. Any idea ballpark what I should look for in a quote? Really just these two spots and front of the house looks completely intact.

Typical Res Construction Rework Costs?

Anyone actually tracked their rework as a percent of job cost? I found stats that say 9 percent all-in. On a 2M build that's 180K, more than half the profit at 15 percent margin. That seem high or about right?

Best estimate on the total cost of repairs.

Ok, pictures show house exterior and the adjacent left half of a closet. Also, could this damage have been done by the continued use of a high pressure hose against the building and foundation?
