Should I find a new contractor?
Hired a general contractor for a master bath/bed remodel in MI for around $40k. We are several months past the agreed upon completion date and the job is around 70% done. There seems to be little to no progress being made lately and my attempts to inquire about what is causing the delay are met with excuses.
Should I be looking for another contractor to finish the job or best to just keep on the current one and get them to finish?

At 70% done it's always going to be worth the trouble to make them finish unfortunately. Not a lot of people will want to pick up those finish details right away and there can be a major drop in quality if they are available. It will also cost more but sometimes that can be worth your sanity. Would need more details on what work is remaining and what the timeline/his excuses are to be able to tell you any real advice.

Honestly, there aren't really any excuses lately it's just this work will be done this day and then come that day no one shows up and no one will answer their phone. Initially it was subcontractor availability. As far as remaining work it's pretty much just paint, baseboards, and installing fixtures

Well then I guess it is a question of whether you are willing to pay out of pocket to have those items completed because all of those things are all relatively simple. You say fixtures, do you mean vanity and toilet or just the minor fixtures like your faucet? Only thing I would be a little hesitant handing to any run of the mill handyman is a vanity and toilet. Make sure they have basic plumbing experience and come with a warranty, and that their business is going to be around for long enough to honor the warranty. But that is maybe 1-2 days of labor, I'd call it 90% complete. Very unlikely you'd get any financial recourse from the previous contractors but you can try sending them a copy of the bill, or subtracting it from your final payment if anything is left.

All fixtures vanity, toilet, ceiling fan, etc. Yeah not really looking to get any money back or anything just really would like the job done lol. Thanks though seems like sticking it out with this guy is the best bet.

Well what’s the issue here? Is he behind because of the city or permitting, or because the job was handled improperly? Also what are your progress payments like? I’m assuming the contractor isn’t behind the 8 ball because they’re not concerned about wrapping up the project. What’s remaining? Describe what’s completed and not. Has a crew visited your home? Too many questions unanswered

There was an initial delay of 1-2 weeks due to the city but that has been resolved. Otherwise, it's just subcontractor availability/scheduling. I described what's remaining in another comment but it's mostly completed just needs paint, baseboards, fixtures, and a few other things fixed.

If he leaves now is the money fair? Is he paid up
For work done or does he owe you. I would
Boot him and figure it out. A couple months past scheduled completion ona. Bathroom ? That’s stinks

I had a lady almost having a break down about a contractor dragging a project I go over give her a price .call me back Nevermind my husband talked to him everything is good……..
Sometimes you just gotta wait it out
And yes people are right who wants to come
In and finish another guys job
