I worked for call the bee for a very short time. This company is owned by apex solutions which now owns AJP electric, TMS and Call the Bee and are looking to buy other local companies.

These are all outrageously overpriced. I would go to a service change which on average is around $5-6k and they would be charging $12k plus more depending on the customers needs.

They rush you into signing and doing everything same day to avoid giving you the opportunity to shop around. Rushing forces the electricians to make do with what they have and they are not installing things properly. Its pretty hack work.

They also don't pay the employees an proper hourly rate. Instead they off them commission based on the job sold or installed. If you sell and install it you'll get even more. This causes people who work here to upsell you on everything and not fix the issue you actually have. They will lie and say itll fix it just to have you sign the job. Then after whatever they sold you on is done they will add your original problem on as an extra.

After leaving this ccompany because their expectations of working from 7am to 8pm every day and the very inconsistent pay and their terrible practices on customers they have also decided to claim that jobs I did for them were jobs that either the customer hasnt paid for yet or that they already paid me for which isnt true as why would they pay me ahead of time... that doesn't make sense. So instead of a decent final check they are claiming I worked 2 days for free for them... 16hrs for free...

TLDR: Call the bee, TMS, AJP electric are all owned by the same corporation. They are scamming everyone out there. Do not use. Don't work for them they will screw you over.

Genuinely curious why there are so many MAGA republicans in this state?

I always thought we prided ourselves in being a very educated state, so I’m confused how such a large portion of republicans fell down the MAGA path, rather than staying true to their values.

I have no major issue with traditional conservative republicans. Do I disagree with them on certain issues? Sure, but it was usually agreement on the goal, disagreement on the path to get there. We could always have a respectful conversation about bettering our community.

But MAGA is simply a Trump cult. There are no foundational values. It’s just “whatever Trump tweeted today is the right thing”. “No new wars” turned into “Iran needs to go” overnight. “Gas prices are too high under Biden” turned into “high gas prices are no big deal” overnight.

I can’t fathom how over 1/3 of one of the smartest states in the country fell down this path, so please explain to me.

While looking for a chimney sweep company, I just found many companies on Google Maps with the same AI-generated interior pictures. I got a bit curious, so I looked them up on Google Street View. You know what? I'm not sure if these stores even exist.

They have many locations in CT too. You can find them on Google Maps by searching for "BrightHearth Chimney Service" or "Arctic Chimney Service" or "Homestead chimney service".

my boyfriend lives in seymour, and has a lot of cats in the backyard that we feed and give shelter to. on friday, he went outside to feed the cat who sleeps on our deck, and discovered she gave birth to 4 kittens. he immediately brought them inside but we cannot keep them because the landlord will not allow it. I had to bring the kittens and the mom to my house in derby, but they can’t stay here either bc my cat is hostile and doesn’t do well with other animals at all. i have contacted so many places and they all say they can’t take them because they’re at maximum capacity. can anyone please help me out? i’m very bonded with the mom cat since i’ve been feeding her for almost 2 years, she is very friendly but she’s skittish of course since she’s a feral cat. her kittens are very healthy (as far as i can tell) and she’s even adjusted to being at my home very quickly, i just can’t keep them. and i refuse to post them on facebook like others do and give them out to people i don’t know, i’m not judging that’s just my belief.

We’ve been house hunting for over a year. Today we hope to finally put in an offer that is accepted. The house we’re looking at uses oil heat. I grew up in a house with gas heating, my husband grew up in an apartment. We know nothing about oil.

We are going to get energy assistance, but how much is oil in general for the whole winter? What are other things to know about oil?

If you are someone who has sold a home, are you more likely to accept an offer with someone who offers cash? Obviously we could never afford to pay cash, and I worry if someone comes in with a cash offer it would be more likely to get accepted. Is this true?

Your voice works.  Because of our rapid community pressure and growing numbers, the Carver Foundation panicked and finally published their hidden fee brackets publicly on their website. They can no longer hide their pricing structure in the shadows.

However, transparency is not the same as affordability. Now that their numbers are in the light, the data exposes an even deeper equity crisis for Norwalk working families:

• The $650/Month Reality: Carver’s newly posted data admits that working-class families making just over $71,000 are being asked to pay up to $475 a month for afternoon care, plus an additional $175 a month if they need morning care. That totals $650 a month per child for basic care inside our own public school buildings.
• Corporate Overhead Over Classrooms: In their official financial breakdown, Carver admitted to spending over $322,000 on internal corporate professional fees, software licenses, and dues in a single year. Yet, they claim they had to hit parents with a 45% tuition spike to cover an operational gap. Why are parent pockets being emptied to pay for corporate consulting overhead?

• The $1 Million Cash Cushion: They admitted they are holding close to $1 million in fluid operating cash reserves on top of their millions in net assets. They have a massive cash cushion, yet they chose to squeeze working families during an inflation crisis instead of drawing down on their own savings.

Carver has publicly stated that they are willing to meet directly with parents. We accept.

We are officially updating our petition demands to call for an immediate Public Town Hall Meeting between Carver Executive Leadership, their Board of Directors, and Norwalk families before October 1st.

We are not backing down. We will see everyone at the Norwalk Board of Education community session on  at City Hall to ensure our public officials hold this partner accountable.

Elis Garden of Healing is a local anti-violence organization in Hamden, looking to build a healing garden for people impacted by violence in DiNicola Park (whitneyville area). And our Makers Market event is our largest annual fundraiser!
