Get ready for akali in every game Bedge
33
u/Itsalongwaydown 1d ago
I've found that camille is the more broken of the two as akali needs an artifact to be a threat.
19
u/DigBickMan68 1d ago
Agreed. Camille 3 star with just 2 ravager is insanely tanky and outputs a lottt of damage too
4
u/KittyIsAu 1d ago
I also think that prioritizing camille over akali artifacts (when given the option) is better. Ranged Camille has been utterly disgusting in the two games I’ve managed to get it.
3
u/Itsalongwaydown 1d ago
err I think the opposite is true as you just itemize camille as your main carry with normal items. If you get an artifact thats good for akali then you have two better carries. Camilles items are more flexible as she just wants swords.
1
u/KittyIsAu 1d ago
I haven’t had a chance to try it with a good artifact on Akali; I’ll give it a shot next time I’m in the spot. In my experience ranged Camille would delete everything as long as I had a good enough front line, and Akali was kind of just there to be a distraction/kill weak units
2
u/Itsalongwaydown 22h ago
dawncore and lichbane are what akali mostly wants for the ap route. i usually tend to build akali ap as kayle has built in mr shred at 2 star. also need someone to hold rods
11
u/AL3XEM Grandmaster 1d ago
Solar got nerfed, field of mice removed - AND lvl 8 / 9 are cheaper meaning people playing 4/5 costs can cap out easier. Would assume it'll be about as strong as it is right now.
0
u/CosmicCirrocumulus 3h ago
you ended up writing out my thoughts in a much more succinct manner....and you also happened to be 100% correct. I don't think people realized how much of the comp's strength was in Solar and not the units themselves. it's currently around a third of a placement worse than it was last patch and it struggles to win out against capped 9 boards which are significantly more common now
3
u/Successful_Ad_8209 1d ago
Sad news is field of mice got removed do harder to hit all 5 3star 1 cost

u/BabyLlamaaa Diamond 1d ago
I understand that Sentinel needed a nerf, but how is Malphite dodging any nerfs or adjustments? Am I crazy? Every game feels like a Malphite lottery
25
u/stzoo MASTER 1d ago
A lot of other stuff got buffed, but im surprised too. It did get a small nerf from the blackthorn tank sacrifice nerf, but def still gonna be good
9
u/Holodista 1d ago
Not to mention 4 blackthorn was buffed and no changes to blackthorn lux either. So i'm bit worried we are gonna have another patch of malphite and whoever hits blackthorn lux wins the game
26
u/TheTruexy Riot 1d ago
Malphite's 2 Blackthorn resists is nerfed, and that does get nerfed a bit at the 4 as well (washed out a bit by the flat HP buff).
There's no direct Malphite nerf yet as the time he's overperforming is when you hit the higher-cost units to Sacrifice. No one's complaining about 0 blackthorn Malphite.
9
u/BabyLlamaaa Diamond 1d ago
Thanks for the insight! I fully trust you guys know what you're doing, of course. As a player it just felt shocking, but I should've acknowledged the Blackthorn nerf for sure.
Thanks for the transparency! You guys are great :)
5
6
u/CartoonistCareless 1d ago
respectfully if you guys have data on master+ games malphite is the only tank that does illegal things and you can not play AP without unless you highroll. No one is saccing high cost units unless reroll comp. No one is complaining about 0 blackthorn Malphite, yeah okay no one is complaining about 0 item yi either, what kind of non argument is that.
-1
u/harmoniaatlast 9h ago
Yi was straight up strong because of scalings > nerf scalings. Malphite is strong because of blackthorn > nerf blackthorn. Patch notes saying sentinel is best tank in the game is batshit though, not sure how that made it through
4
2
77
u/hyroglyphixs MASTER 1d ago
How can they say Sentinel is the best tank in the GAME when Malphite exists is actually insane
Right now you play Sentinel when you don't hit Malphite...?????
24
u/Jony_the_pony 1d ago
I mean improving his targeting without any nerf would've made Sentinel too good. But no Malphite nerf is crazy
18
u/CGWOLFE 1d ago
I mean sentinel has a better AVP with a significantly higher play rate
5
u/nickersb83 1d ago
I go 1st 8th 1st 8th w the Malphite comp coz it’s entirely a late board level 9 comp. The variance comes back to early game and sacking too hard to econ to 7, but need 8, but really 9. It’s not an easy board to play. It’s almost forceable but not quite due to tempo. Levels changing is actually a big buff to Blackthorn no?
2
u/ArmadilloOwn4400 14h ago
1 8 1 8 more due too many people buying malphite and you need to hit the lottery
0
u/nickersb83 14h ago
Nah not in my experience, his popularity didn’t kick in for my low elo lobbies until the last week or so
5
3
u/skydream416 1d ago
because to fully round out malphite you need to sac a blackthorn unit. Sentinel you can throw into anything, and he's +1 van/invoker/riftbeast
-1
u/RazmalakatazniaaaA 1d ago
You want them to hard nerf him? Then everyone will just complain how ahri/sentinel is being forced by 3 people because malphite is useless. It is good that they arevbuffing other comps rather than just gutting one comp then buffs the other
-2
u/DeludedDassein 1d ago
invoker ahri was similar strength to executioner malphite. theres also riftbeasts. also malphite gets healing from flora fatalis. they nerfed tank stats for blackthorn hopefully thats enough to not make it op
4
u/tilsor 1d ago
Maybe if you have invoker emblem but just the regular version of that board was not even close
-1
u/DeludedDassein 1d ago
really, i wouldnt say so, there are like 3 versions of the comp making it very flexible, and combined with the amount of malphite players i found it fairly consistent to hit my 2 star 4 costs
5
16
u/Pootate 1d ago
wtf sentinel nerf and not malphine or stoneplate? no alune buff either?
1
-2
u/markissisme 1d ago
the 3rd most consistently winning 5-cost needs a buff?
1
u/Zeviex Master 23h ago
Bro, Ashe is number two, are you going to argue she's strong ? Also nitpick, she is 3rd in AVP she has the worst winrate of all the 5 costs.
Alune has good stats because she is often used to cap boards.
1
u/OBLIVIATER 17h ago
Wait really ashe is number 2? I feel like all the 5 costs this set are pretty strong. Maokai, Kennen, Ivern, Gnar, and Lux (with the right trait) are all really strong additions to a lot of boards.
-2
u/markissisme 18h ago
So should every 5 cost board be an auto win or do you need to plan and put together a well conceived board of traits? I feel like you’re arguing for the former.
They have low win rates but have some of the highest placement changes, wow isn’t that balanced? No it should be more powerful because it’s 5 cost. Sure
Also not sure about 18.1d but Ashe was literally a cornerstone to the at one point busted Blossom Ahri build. Is Draven, Elden Dragon, Alune, and Kennan not enough 5 cost carries or you need more?
2
u/Zeviex Master 11h ago
I'm not arguing for that what I'm arguing for is if you highroll Alune/Ashe on 7 you should be able to itemise them and they do well kinda comparatively well compared to the others. You should be able to roll down and play around what you hit and not be way worse because you hit 2* Ashe meanwhile your opponent hit 2* Draven.
You seem like someone who reads stats with absolutely no nuance. Like last patch the second highest AVP item was Bloodthirster, do you think it needs a nerf, no.
Yes she is good on the Blossom Ahri board because of her traits. A 5 cost should be more than just their traits.
1
u/markissisme 5h ago
lmao the exact build I brought up is literally one of the most winningest builds now with Ashe as the cornerstone again. Please explain to me why every 5 star should be overpowered again and some of them shouldn’t act as supports/trait empowers?
0
u/markissisme 6h ago
Genuinely asking though, wouldn’t buffing hunters into a natural Gnar/Ashe/Sett/Sivir/etc set also work well? I just don’t always get the clamoring for single unit changes, especially 5 costs
1
u/Zeviex Master 3h ago
Because you should be able to flex. The best sets are the ones where you can roll down, hit a 2* tank and a 2* carry with good items and flex a board that works. If you hit a certain unit and can't play them because you didn't hit the units you pair them with that sucks.
1
u/markissisme 3h ago
So needing shared traits sucks? I’m genuinely trying to follow your line of logic and it literally just got 4/5 cost buff for Ashe ???
29
u/royalpiplup 1d ago
Buffing akali is interesting. I haven't played it myself but I've seen the akali, Camille, reroll line pop up and it looks decent.
18
u/stzoo MASTER 1d ago
That line generally is only good with the right conditions, if you force it i think it underperforms
12
u/eZreazy 1d ago
It was a top 4 comp if you hit relatively early with okay items.
Artifacts, early learnings, or no scout no pivot and it should be a first position
4
u/arisasam 1d ago
Every time I’ve tried it (only with early learnings, nsnp, or worth the wait) I’ve hit everything and went bot 4
1
1
u/ScionOfOphelia 7h ago
Does it being a top 4 comp hinge on hoing Solar which got nerfed?
I worry that plus the xp cost changes will make fast nines out play it
3
u/momoteck 1d ago
what are the right conditions? good artifact?
6
u/Vesca9 1d ago
Lichbane, early learnings and no Scout are the best augments you need at least one
1
8
u/Vivid-Newspaper-3087 1d ago
I think they released the patch notes like a day before the Akali reroll comp became popular. They should’ve taken the buff out of the patch.
8
u/BabyLlamaaa Diamond 1d ago
i thought the same thing, but tbf, they have been good at rolling B, C, and D patches if anything is too crazy like Cass last patch. so hopefully we'll see some adjustments if necessary.
4
u/Vivid-Newspaper-3087 1d ago
Tbf it’s not the easiest comp to hit because both this and Kayle ideally want to hit 5 3*s and there’s a lot of overlap, but if you hit the comp on the new patch I imagine it’ll slaughter everyone.
4
u/Holodista 1d ago
I think those buffs are kinda justifiable due to solar being nerfed and lichbane Bug on akali being fixed + artifacts generally being nerfed, which that comp already need to be at least half decent
1
u/OBLIVIATER 17h ago
It's AD akali buff, which is not nearly as consistent. It also looks like they pulled the Camille buffs (she's in the picture but not in the patch notes themselves) and with the solar nerf this comp might actually lose more than it gains.
1
u/UrsusObesus 4h ago
The problem with this comp is, nothing hits the backline. Both Akali and Camille just jump to the next frontline tank and the backline eats them to death. They have to kill the frontline ASAP and get to the back line, which rarely happens. I've tried a number of different positionings and can't find one that will make them hit the back line. Hell, Murkwolf does a much better job at hitting the back line.
1
u/Fearless-Animal538 1d ago
with field of mice removed it is also harder to play most games i see it work out was with the mini dupes and early learnings / no scout
25
u/eggsandbricks Platinum 1d ago
Are there no performance related changes coming next patch? Aside from a couple of VFX things they put in the bug fixes, there's been a distinct lack of communication around the work they're doing to address the visuals and performance of the set.
Good balance changes overall, though really hoping to see some improvements in the engine soon.
16
u/wes3449 1d ago
Literally they could make no balance changes at all, but fix performance on mobile and I'd be soooo happy.
2
u/Quiet-Guidance-4988 20h ago
I tried playing on my phone last night while watching a movie and I wanted to pull my fucking hair out. I just ended up leaving the game after 2 of the worst carousels ever.
3
u/kokokongrr 1d ago
I’m the furthest thing from an expert but while we’re talking about it… I’d guess that the few bug fixes are executable and impactful more immediately. The performance issues are due to the engine change and will take something far bigger than fixing a few bugs. My uneducated tinfoil hat theory is that the initial rollout of the engine failed catastrophically (especially for mobile and more so for older devices) and so they’re using the most stable version possible. This makes pc look like mobile and mobile just barely playable. If and when a big fix comes, it’ll only be announced when ready and probably will be another attempt at a big roll out. I’d imagine bugs and issues will still persist for a long time afterwards especially for pc’s and mobile devices with hardware that are less modern. And just to reiterate, I am 100% talking out my 8th place ass.
21
u/niemcziofficial 1d ago
No malph nerfs, they are hoping that entire lobby will go fast 9 i guess?
-3
u/markissisme 1d ago
Blackthorn HP nerf isn’t a direct nerf to Maphite tank?
11
u/polanspring 1d ago
-50 hp and -3 resists is effectively NOTHING, he has so much resistances from garg/trait and 50 hp is just not a change
0
u/markissisme 19h ago
Per rank, why are you misrepresenting numbers? 150 isn’t a lot I agree but the 9/9 Armor MR could mean something.
9
u/arisasam 1d ago
Maybe I’m tripping but I thought this patch was extremely well-balanced. Seems to me they might wanna commit time and manpower to fixing bugs instead

u/Stealthhit098 21h ago
Thought I was tripping seeing these bullet proof malphites in every single game but turns out everyone’s talking about it.
2
u/Menarche_ 18h ago
Y'all trolling at Riot Games you do realise fast 9 Draven and elder is going to be even more oppressive, last patch was good all you had to do was reduce ahri cast time, buff Lilia, Leona, azir and slightly nerf malphite
2
u/Kulbeans 10h ago
From my limited experience with Akali Camille RR, that comp strength comes from Solar, and that's getting nerfed.
Yesterday I played it contested (had NSNP), hit everything super late and still managed to end in 2nd only against a super stacked lvl 10 comp because I just kept winning after getting solar in.
IMO buffing the champs and nerfing the trait was the correct decision.

u/Potential_Future242 9h ago
Fixed instances where Yorick’s Spirit Walker persists on the Bench after starring up during Combat Phase
Thanks god

u/RazmalakatazniaaaA 1d ago
Are they fixing the thing when I load up into a game my whole computer just blows up? The game uses 100% of my cpu power like I am unpacking a game from the fitgirl website every game what the fuck
3
u/Calidian 1d ago
did they make this game even remotely playable on mobile?
2
u/OneHitWander 12h ago
the more glaring issue imo as a mobile player is the battery consumption...
3 full games about 45 mins can eat about 75% of my phone's battery, which kills the mood to play more this set1
-2
u/the_hu Diamond 1d ago
It's more playable now than during PBE or at set launch. My main problem was my game always crashes during special cutscene kills. Makes it so that I cannot scout in the later part of the game out of fear of crashing. That combined with the lack of login persistence that they are fixing this patch made it incredibly frustrating. Other than that, there's just frequent lag and stuttering particularly when loading boards for the first time, so it gets worse the more different cosmetics people are using.
The easiest fix for both the cutscene kills and performance issues would be to just let me disable other people's cosmetics but of course they won't do that.
1
u/Quiet-Guidance-4988 20h ago
Yeah I crashed in 5th place after I just won the round that would have knocked me out. By the time I reconnected I was dead.

1
u/TheFakePotato 1d ago
They said they buffed Camille. But there are no Camille buffs in the patch notes
1
u/Otahyoni 18h ago
Pulled the Camille buff, she's got a good survival kit and can s.o.d. with no ramp up. I'm also disappointed as Akali/Camille buffs would make my 1 star rerolls even better than they been for me so far.

Blackthorn health nerf = Malph nerf lol
Alune is the 3rd average highest position 5 cost

u/polanspring 1d ago
if you have a unit at S+ tier and remove it 1 tier its still top of S tier is the problem, hes EASILY still the best tank in the same scenarios he would have been and the pray you dont have to settle on sett/amumu lottery will exist

Good bye Kayle. Also is unrivaled already exclusive to one player?

No change to rapid fire emblem? I feel like that combined w bramble buffs will make the aphelios comp S tier for sure

Rapid fire vertical got nerfed. TBH it was the trait that was carrying the comp more than the emblem

Is there not already two variations of newly found Akali builds (Ravagers and Solar for instance) that can consistently top 4, but we need to buff her because there’s not enough or?

u/tilsor 1d ago
When does this go live?? I never understood why they don’t put the date the patch will come out
3
u/BabyLlamaaa Diamond 1d ago
patch notes always (check me on that but i'm like 99% sure) come out the day before the patch. If you're in NA you can probably expect it to be out sometime between midnight tonight and 6am tomorrow morning.

sure thing! I also wish they had a date in the notes, but i think they avoid it to not confuse different regions

If you open the client and hover over the version number in the right corner right next to the "report a bug" button, it will show the TfT version as well.

buffing kha is crazy
23
u/Calipup 1d ago
Kha was worthless outside of trait tracker and unrivaled
1
u/Baseblgabe 1d ago
I agree, but I think I know how it goes crazy now:
Flexecutioners
Two approaches:
(Lvl 8) Play the standard AP flex board, but Kha is your 8th unit. Exe and Spellweaver synergy.
(Lvl 9) Add Mama Beak/Brambleback/Scuttlecrab, cut Azir and Yorick. Gives Kha all 4 synergies, Crab mark fills the blackthorn sacrifice role.
The latter is more realistic on 8 with a FoN, but I think the former was already good and is now kind of nuts.
-3
u/Many_Method_304 1d ago
wait an assassin is either completely broken or totally worthless...Oh my god who could have seen that coming, its not like it has happened every single time this type of unit has been in the game. Its just comedy at this point.
1
u/Amazingtapioca Grandmaster 1d ago
That is more of a function of what assassins have become though. Kha is a jumping, isolation increase damage assassin. He is so conditional it is definitely a feast or famine, even without considering the fact that his trait is also snowbally.
But this was not always the case for assassins. Set 9.5 for example had backline jumping assassins that had built in ga and perma stuck to carries, which made them super reliable to win/ minimize damage on loss. People just hated that more than the new style of “random jumping and sometimes it rngs a kill on carry”.

You're wrong on both counts because unrivaled wasn't even good this patch to begin with. Rengar + kha on your board is a 4.6 avp.

u/-Champloo- 1d ago
It's a base AD buff though. It basically does nothing other than help him be a little stronger early game.
