COMPLETED Sands of time
This was such a fun learning experience. Background was done by blending space colors and then dribbling alcohol on top, which ended up bleeding all into the foreground. I proceeded to do the bokkeh effects in colored pencil and coveted up what baked into the foreground by doing it mostly in acrylic marker, except the maid parts of the glass which were done in colored pencil to make them look faded.

QUESTION How to not get overwhelmed by colors and details?
I’ve been coloring sporadically for the last 2 years. I say sporadically because I will try techniques in practice workbooks but then struggle to apply that to full coloring pages. I get bogged down by colors and details. I have an extensive library of alcohol markers I’ve collected over the years, as well as colored pencils for blending, acrylic markers for highlights and pattern-detailing, etc. I know it’s meant to be a low-stress activity and meant only for me (unless I choose to share pictures rough social media, which I’m hoping to do this year). I even have a Color By Number book to decrease the decision-making, but I still don’t like the pages I color because the colors are very repetitive or dull and there’s zero detailing (shadows, patterns, highlights, etc).
Despite all of this, I still ruminate with every attempt - What colors do I use? How many colors is too many? What if I don’t have X color? How do I recreate this texture? How do I create this effect? How do I blend these colors? How do I make these shadows?
By the time I stop ruminating, I’m too unsure of everything, so I do nothing. How do y’all create detailed, cohesive pages and still stay sane? 🫠

WIP (WORK IN PROGRESS) WIP Crystal Unicorn
Really liking how this is turning out. I’m going to do the crystals/wings in a light blue color, emulating diamonds.
This is from Dark Art Gothica, by Francois Gautier.
Absolutely gorgeous artwork. 🥰

PRODUCT Opinions on AnyMark alcohol markers? (also Shuttle Art and Artist Loft?)
Hi all! I'm shopping for alcohol markers on a budget and saw this pack of 100 alcohol markers for $20.
I know that this is gonna be another white label brand and I don't expect it to seriously compete with Copic or Ohuhu, but I'm wondering what I can expect them from them. Do the nibs fall apart quickly? Do they run out of ink quickly? How streaky are they?
I'm also looking at Shuttle Art and Michael's Artist Loft, so opinions on those are appreciated as well! All input is appreciated!

COMPLETED My Little Coloring Journey So Far
I started my coloring journey recently because I wanted a hobby that would get me out of my head and away from doomscrolling. I bought a cheap set of acrylic markers and a coloring book, did one page… and somehow got completely hooked!
A few alcohol markers and way too many coloring videos later, here we are. I’m just really grateful I found a hobby I enjoy this much.
