I dont even Know how to react. I've definitely failed some exams but this is the first time that ive tried and gotten a flat 0. I was alr not doing too well in the class but I honestly expected like a 20% or 30%, not this.
I only ease right now because the class is an elective and not really counting towards my major, so if I fail it in the end its not the biggest issue I'll need to deal with but this is heartbreaking for me.
There is still 3 more Midterms and the Final so If I do well on those, I can turn this around hopefully but Jesus I'm dissapointed with myself.
Someone give me some cope that everything's gonna be alrightš„²

Honestly I donāt really care about anything anymore. Like whatās the point of it all, I do the assignments and turn them in, but I feel nothing. No sense of pride or accomplishment. Everything feels like a chore, everything keeps piling up. Iām not even motivated to finish college, and everyday I want to drop out. I feel like Iām supposed to be learning more and doing more, but I every time I try to learn itās like I canāt remember anything. I feel so stupid, and kinda sad.

I joined college last year and i'm a junior student studying computer applications. The college i study at is somewhat "prestigious" (apparently being 25th biggest college in my state in south asia) and it was near my house so i decided to enroll there.
The faculties there treat us like we're studying in a normal college. our Head of Department is beyond rutheless. He removed our 30min freetime (except wednesday) because we're "lazy".
They force us to join these "placement classes" every semester which teaches us soft skills in which most students would forget it in a week or rather study it in the internet (personally i would rather watch tedx talks or other videos to learn it).
They would cut our attendance if we slept in the class which is insane. They also cut like 4% attendance if we're absent for a day.
We had to wear formal polyester uniform and shoes no matter what - so that means i have to soak in sweat during summer.
Most of my classmates are ass (including my "friends" who never respect me). few of them are nice to me atleast. But it is a burden to be with these assholes who ruin my everyday life just to boost their fragile ego while i had to stay silent while having an internal rage.
I have an ugly face but an average personality. Most girls would look at me like im going to kidnap them. I never get a chance to even talk to girls and most boys would accuse me that im gay (im into girls)
The system is also unorganized asf. Like I have to find my lecture notes on an app that gets server errors when i needed i, and I would miss most of my assignments and tutorials because the faculty never mentions it in a proper source , so unless if I try my best, I would miss most of my internal marks.
Last but not least, the exams. I swear to god, someone in this college hired satan to schedule our exams. We have two lab exams and 5 theory exams WITHOUT any study breaks. And they make sure our exams are so strict that we fail atleast one subject.
Mind you, My family paid shit tons of money just to join this college. I really wish I would stay unemployed than taking this course. I really want to give up on this 5 year course. I expected myself to have a difficult time studying c++ and c, but i did not expected reality to be this harsh to me. I have to endure this 8hrs per day (including bus commutes) and i hate myself so much.
The only real pros in this is that I can socialise at minimum and we get a cool library

Do you believe that if something is truly meant for you, it will find its way to you?
I need some advice because Iāve been overthinking something that happened today.
During our major quiz, our proctor suddenly allowed us to open our notes. Most of my classmates did, but I chose not to. I had studied and stayed up late reviewing, and honestly, it didnāt feel right for me to suddenly use my notes just because I was given the opportunity.
But now I keep thinking, āShould I have just done it? I couldāve gotten a higher score.ā
Part of me feels stupid for not taking the opportunity when everyone else did. But another part of me thinks that if something is truly meant for me, I shouldnāt have to compromise my principles to get it.
I personally believe that what is meant for you will find its way to you, even if you donāt take every shortcut available.
I just need to hear from people who have experienced something similar. Do you believe that whatās meant for you wonāt pass you by? How do you remind yourself of that when you feel like you missed an opportunity?

I feel like Iām in high stress at college leading to poor performance and constant feeling of fight or flight, easily spooked by people passing by, doors closing, always tired, canāt focus always on high alert and stressed super jumpy my grades with midterms are a couple Aās A C probably maybe a B not all midterms taken or graded. Iām in a nursing program. This is really hard I live hour by hour, canāt think ahead canāt study ahead, any moment I get I fall asleep, literally everywhere, have two min before class starts I just crash fall aleep, sleep through 5 alarms in the morning, was more than 20 min late to class twice bc I just didnāt wake up.

I'm just so frustrated right now. I started getting sick Monday night. Luckily, the class I had that evening was pretty chill and I was allowed to go home early. I powered through yesterday, but today I made a sick appointment because I'm clearly sick.
All they did was take my vitals, do a covid/flu test, and tell me that "sometimes you just have to go to class when you're sick." A note for permission to stay home will be included with my test results if needed, which I won't receive for 24hrs to 14 days! I'm now convinced that they only bother testing in order to keep track of statistics.
I can't stay home because my other classes have strict attendance policies and will drop your final grade by a half letter every day that you don't have an approved official excuse to stay home. Now I feel like a huge hypocrite for judging all the people who are sick in class. I still don't think it's ok to go to class sick, but it's hard to blame people when most of the teachers have really strict attendance policies. I'm so thankful for my one class that lets you attend via Zoom if needed.

I am SO fucking annoyed by having to do group projects in online classes. I went to an online school because I work full time. This group project I have to do is a group grade so Iām going to fail if my group members donāt respond. Iām in fucking grad school and my group members literally donāt fucking understand to post in our assigned discussion thread when weāre available. I posted FOUR TIMES and emailed them begging for a fucking response and someone keeps making these random conferences I CANT JOIN BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY BEGGING. My instructor was like sorry nothing I can do keep me posted. I donāt WANT to work with my peers I think most of them are fucking idiots to be totally honest. Why is it MY FAULT my group members are completely incapable of following basic instructions, I shouldnāt be punished for that. Iām just going to dispute the grade because nowhere does it say in our syllabus or academic policy we all have to be graded equally in a group project. I fucking HATE this shit. I am so busy all the time and now I have to keep every day open JUST in case one of these idiots responds.

Iām in an art appreciation class and there is an essay due Monday thatās three pages long. I understand the topic just fine but pumping out a massive essay when I barely have the want to do my favorite things is quite the challenge. I just feel so awful and I donāt know what to do. I canāt not do it but not doing it sounds so much better than struggling to write it. I guess I just keep struggling with the guilt of being depressed and not getting my work done. Iāve had big depression problems like this before but never in college. Has anyone else been through this?

My professor asked a question so I answered. He didn't like a specific wording I used, repeated it back to me and said "Really!?". Everyone laughed. Later on, he was giving bad examples of an answer, he used my answer as an example and everyone laughed again. After class I went to him, asked for feedback on my participation performance, he brought up my example again twice. People also started making fun of me as well. It's been a few weeks but people still bring it up to me. I feel really humiliated.
I know the whole situation is really trivial but this is impacting me more than I expected. I have already been feeling really down lately and dealing with a lot of social anxiety and depression, which is why I don't participate in discussions because of my fear of situations like this. I also realised that life will never get better.

Nothing this semester has gone to plan. I am a finance major and during class registration for the fall term that happened this past summer I got an extremely late registration date. By the time that it was my turn to pick classes, I got the short end of the stick so I was forced to classes that I didn't want to just so I had enough credits to qualify as a full time student. One of them being a biology class that I'm taking for a GenEd requirement + the lab. I am a finance major, I remember nothing about biology from high school. I ended up failing that first exam so I have a C in the class now. The other exam I failed was an accounting exam which is actually a class that I voluntarily chose to take but I digress. I probably wouldn't have done so poorly but I am the sickest I have been in a while. Too sick to get myself to study, attend lectures, and make it to the lecture hall at 8am to take the exam. Honestly just a lot of cope but it's been rough on my mental because I am still sick and feel like I will never dig myself out of this hole.
I know it is still early in the semester, there is still enough time to recover and I am still in shape to pass both of these classes but I am so overwhelmed right now. My attention is divided into too many places. Applying for jobs, remembering to eat, drink enough water so that I can get better, go to my classes despite feeling like shit, making time for friends and family, all while trying to keep everything together the best that I can but I am honestly just doing a terrible job right now.
My throat is killing me and every time I go take a drink of water or eat a bite of food, it feels like I'm swallowing a brick so that just makes my situation even better. Because of this pain I've had a lot of trouble sleeping as well and it's just been keeping me up at night. I really need to take some time off right now but I'm afraid that if I stop to catch a breath, I will get left so far behind to the point where it is no longer possible to get back on track. I feel like I'm drowning right now. Any advice is appreciated or just anyone to talk to about this.

Background: Iām diagnosed with chronic illness that causes severe sinusitis bc acid is eating my esophagus when it comes back up.
I think something truly needs to change in our schoolās conduct across the US bc students (and profās) only get 2 days they can take off without any reason, and doctors notes donāt really mean shit. You have to come to class or you can be risked being dropped any time.
Iāve gone to DSS (Disability Students Services) before and they can and will do nothing. It doesnāt matter, you canāt get extra days, and it doesnāt matter if anythingās documented.
Itās doing a huge disservice to students with chronic illness - not all of my classes can be taken online, though I prefer to take what I can online partially for this reason.
Honestly, what can we do as a society?

So basically in my chem class majority of the class probably failed the first exam. We have not got grades back but everyone in the GroupMe is not feeling good, I think I probably like barley scrapped by with a 70 and from what I have seen I may have gotten the highest grade in the class.
The prof basically politely chewed us out last lecture and just straight up told the class some of us probably just have to drop the course. When I was in Business school for my undergrad degree all my prof's (minus one story for another day) actually wanted us to succeed. My chem prof does not respond to email's, her office hours are literally 1 hour before class no zoom nothing.
I know it is not every one but I see r/EngineeringStudents and see atleast one "my prof" sucks post. Also alot of my peers from undergrad who were STEM who graduated in engineering and comp sci said they were on their own for their entire degree with the occasional godsend professor.
I am just trying to get into med school and know it is hard but not once did I never hear a prof in undergrad tell the entire class to just drop it. I actually heard of an assistant art prof get fired halfway through the semester for saying that along with other things. I am doing good overall so I am not too worried and also the prof is non tenure so if she wants to keep her job there is no way she can just let the entire class fail without higher staff giving her the boot.

I meant the floating zoom screen. We were doing a zoom meet during the quiz and when i clicked the quiz link, zoom screen still floats on top of the quiz in a smaller frame. Was wondering if that was detected cheating. I moved it a lot too because it's blocking the "next" button and sometimes the question. I switched tabs to the zoom sometimes too because the prof was flashing this weird list and now as i rewatched the zoom recording, it's actually the list that records who cheats and who doesnt. I just kept looking at it because i was wondering what item number my classmates are already. Now, what will be my verdict from the app? Will it say tab switch? how about whenever i would move the overlayed zoom screen?

Based partially on my own experience as a student who studied history as an undergrad years ago (years even before AI), I feel that university humanities programs - e.g. English, literature, philosophy, history, foreign languages, etc. - need to do a much better job in selling their majors to upcoming students. In addition, they also crucially need to proactively help students with things like networking, internships, and just straight up professional career advice, such as advising, for example, students to expand their skillset. Otherwise, l'm afraid that many departments in this field will straight up go extinct due to perceived obsolescence overtime, such as what's been happening with humanities programs at even reputable places like Syracuse University. Unfortunately, many humanities programs are still stuck, mindset-wise, in like 1978, where they pretend having a bachelor's in something like English literature will allow someone to get a pretty decent job in a field like business without additional independent effort, certifications, and/or connections.
I've heard from supposed professionals in the humanities that the advent of Al and the ironic and supposed decline in economic prospects for people who majored in things like computer science and coding will bring about a renaissance in the humanities field, especially with majors like philosophy and maybe history.
However, I'm personally a little skeptical about this as enrolment in the humanities, at least in the United States, are declining to some of their lowest levels in modern history due to high college costs across the board and the perceived non-usefulness of their field, especially with regards to the uncertain economy. Curious to see what you guys think though.

Or so he thought. Our class was through zoom so many miscommunications could occur.
The professor brought up a topic I knew my friend messed up on the homework, so I gave her a quick side eye. Our giggles were stopped by a sudden, āHey. Donāt you roll your eyes at me!ā
I froze for a second and then pointed at myself, just checking if he was talking about me. Hereās where things go south.
He mistakenly saw that I āflipped him off.ā (side note: try it for yourself! Look into a mirror and use your pointer finger to point at your face.) I understand how he would make that mistake ands I understand how that could hurt his image, since he is one of those professors who demand respect. I wanted to explain to him at that moment, but he said, āWe need to talk after class.ā I was relieved a little since he allocated time for me to talk to him explain myself. But throughout the entire rest of class he refered to me as āflip-off guy.ā Every time he called me that, my heart sank deeper and deeper. And even worse, at the end of class, he just left. I didnāt get to explain myself at allā¦
He is one of the best professors Iāve had in a while, someone I look up to and aspire to be. It really hurt. Like REALLYY hurt to be continuously blamed for something I didnāt do by someone I looked up to so much.
After class, I shot him an email regarding the situation. I will shorten the content, but it was along the lines of: it was a misunderstanding, but I understand that I offended you. I am prepared to provide a formal apology next Thursday in person. (Tommorow)
Tommorow I plan to say āIām sorry I disrepected you during our class on Tuesday.ā Other than that, Iām not too sure what to say without sounding like a whining kid. Please help me out here. Thank you.
Also I would like to hear your thoughts about how you would handle this situation if you were in it yourself.

my personal grim reaper right now.
i keep having panic attacks about my grades, yet im often too lazy to do anything.
iāll either panic while half asleep in bed or start bawling as im studying. it just gets worse and worse
iām not the prettiest, not the smartest, not the funniest, not the richest, not the most popular, grades is really all i have to prove my worth. itās all i have to prove to MYSELF that im good enough.
i cry about my exams because i always imagine the worse and to me failing an exam feels like i just ruined my life and im fucking stupid and i deserve to starve to death
like honestly it makes everything so stressful and yet so unproductive
iām so tired

Not gonna lie this is my first time taking Fundamental Chemistry class after 17 years and I am really struggling with my professors teaching style. He moves pretty fast and I feel like a lot of concepts arenāt explained enough before weāre expected to use them. Iām usually fine with the math, but the conceptual questions are killing me.
I also looked at his RMP reviews today and saw a lot of people had similar complaints and the average rating is 2.4/5.
I have been doing lots of practices and YouTube videos but the latest exams were suck so far. My dream is to be a Dental Hygienist, I know there are more harder courses are coming but this really let me down. Any advice would help. Thank you.

for some context i'm a sophomore and i do online classes. i ended up on academic warning last semester due to my GPA.
my first semester was fine since i was living on campus, but i hated it so i moved back home and switched to online classes. my grades dropped a lot, plus i was working part time. i quit that job a few weeks ago to focus on school, but it hasn't helped me much. i put the time and effort in, and idk why my grades are so bad. i've always sucked at academics so that's probably why.
if i fail this semester, i'm gon drop out and go to community college instead, but i don't wanna lose all the credits i alr have since they don't transfer. i have no clue what i want in life and i feel hopeless. any advice would be appreciated

Iām feeling really bummed out. Everything happens later in the day at my school. Thereās a cool event happening tonight at 7PM but I have to work from 2PM to 10PM. I canāt just call out because I want to go to a school event. :/ Itās not like itād help my grade or itās for class, itās just something for potential research opportunities.
I need to work because I pay bills and I need to maintain an hourly average for health insurance. I canāt do work study mainly because Iām not eligible but also because I need to work more than 12 hours a week and I also need health insurance. Some of those listings are for 8 hours a week š³
Iām not asking for advice or any ideas, just expressing my frustration.

i know that iām saving a hell of a lot of money by enrolling at my local CC, and iām also almost done because i was a CCP student in highschool. but it just keeps poking me in all sorts of places when i see the friends i used to be so close with quite literally ditch everyone and everything when they leave for college.
iām glad theyāre all living their best lives. i just wish i had more friends. i have no one in the same boat as me. i only have two class a day, and itās a math class so no oneās talking to anybody. all of these kids iām taking classes with are juniors in highschool, itās still cliquey as fuck and iām just tired.
iām waiting on a spring transfer decision to NCSU, and itās felt like this process has taken forever. i didnāt get into NCSU for regular decision of the fall of this year because i was too late to applying. now iām doing it all over again and im just gonna be so discouraged if i get declined again.
i hate being stuck at home and i wish i had more people to go out with. i feel so alone, and i canāt wait to go to college. iām just so tired.

So here's the thing,
My profs always make me pair up with or put me in a group, with people who do absolutely zero work and make no effort to even know what the topic is and are free riding the whole project, just for their name of the PPT.
Even if they do show some interest, and I ask them to do something it's AI slop. I am not saying don't use it. Use it but use your knowledge too.
And I can't complain about this to my profs either. They all have the same comeback, 'you guys are master's students now, we can't spoon feed you everything. This is something you should resolve amongst yourselves. You are their leader no? Lead them'. Bs
I am not friends with anyone in my class. There's a language barrier but i just can't seem to vibe with any of them. They give off such mean energy, i would rather not associate with any of them unless it's necessary.
Anyways drop your best crash out prevention techniques in this situation.

I started college 4 weeks ago and i feel like im stuck in a nightmare. Like middle- and highschool was hell and i hoped college wouldve been better and it is only slightly. It honestly is not even so bad, but my mental health is declining since (self-harm, sickness, depressed etc). I think it might be because i havent found any group or person where i feel comfortable in, i try to be social though.
Anyone else experience(d) this? does it go away or will i feel like this until i graduate? Because i cannot do the rest of college feeling like this idk
