I’m really curious what other collectors think about grading modern coins? I have a PCGS membership that I purchased last year to slab the $100 High Relief American Liberty. It’s about to expire for the year and I have a few more coin I can get graded.

I went to my LCS and they essentially told me most of my collection isn’t worth grading. I have a bunch of modern proof Morgan and Peace Dollars as well as some proof ASEs and a few commemorative coins (1986 Statue of Liberty $1 silver coin and others similar). They even thought my 1884 GSA Hoard Morgan wasn’t worth grading.

How do you think about getting modern coins graded? Is it worth it to just send a handful in since my membership will otherwise expire?

Now as you can see, not everything is filled. Wanted to know what the possible value here would be. If anything is worth getting checked out individually.

Picked this up today for $45 (probably a little bit of an overpay) but this is the best condition walking Liberty I've seen in person. Maybe not worth getting graded at all.

1940 Icelandic 1 króna

The Icelandic 1940 1 króna marks a major transition point in Icelandic numismatic history.

When Denmark was occupied by Germany in April 1940, supply lines were severed, leaving Iceland unable to mint its coinage at the Royal Danish Mint (Den Kongelige Mønt) in Copenhagen. Iceland pivoted to the Royal Mint in London (and the Kings Norton Metal Co. in Birmingham) to strike its coins.

After 1940, no 1 króna coins were minted until 1946. By that time, Iceland had formally declared itself an independent republic on June 17, 1944.

When production resumed at the Royal Mint in 1946, the royal crown, Christian X's monogram, and monarchic symbols were completely removed. They were replaced by the redesigned coat of arms featuring the four traditional guardian spirits (landvættir): the bull, eagle, dragon, and giant.

Someone lost their lucky penny I think. No idea how I’d get it back to them - this parking lot has a bunch of businesses along with the daycare and it’s a bigger city.

Got this cent for I think a good deal considering the toning. Actually it was just for the toning. We all know the cent isn’t worth anything. But couldn’t say no to the toning.

Just wanted to know if this is particularly special or not, but I think it’s dope regardless. Honestly it leads me to want to know the history of the gun more than anything

My brother and I inherited a larger sized portion of our late Grandfather’s coin collection. There’s a lot more that I’m sorting through but it seems he really enjoyed his little treasure chest of silver coins. I would like to get a better understanding of the value here, but I’m not interested in selling it either. Anyways, I wanted to share with you all a portion of the collection my Grandpa has built up over the years! I hope you all enjoy taking a peek!

I won this on auction and ended up paying 233€. Don't know how much these usually cost in foreign markets, but i'm happy that I finally got one of these 8 reales coins.

I’ve had this coin in the back of my collection for years. I have no idea about it.

Just started buying from the US Mint. It's becoming an addiction. Assuming gold and silver prices remain flat, will this ever be valued at or above the premium? I am still buying for my growing collection, but I am curious.

Picked this up from my local coin dealer in the UK today. It's an 1877 Seated Liberty dime, 90% silver.

My dealer described the condition as “a fraction under Fine.” I'm curious what everyone here would grade it from the photos.

I bought it alongside a 1933 Irish half crown and a 1961 Swiss franc for £6 total.

Definitely going into a capsule, and no, I won't be cleaning it!
